who: Yuuto and Morgana
what: A boy and a nya taking a casual stroll through monster infested lands
when: Backdated to the 19th
where: Beyond the walls
warnings: shrugs
[ By now, a month and a half in his stay within the Quarantine, Yuuto has familiarized himself well enough with the city, but there's always been one aspect of it he hasn't quite been able to see for himself: what lies beyond the protection of the inner walls. He's heard much about the Perimeter Guard, exploration teams, and monsters that lurk within the forest—enough to know that going out there on his own was probably not the smartest idea, but it was difficult to team up without jeopardizing his image of a normal teenager. Even here, he's keeping his life as a thief a secret.
Fortunately, a recent arrival that does know this secret has shown up—a fellow partner in crime and capable fighter. And so the obvious solution to sate Yuuto's curiosity? Take Morgana along with him to see the sights.
As they traverse through the thick foliage and debris, remnants of what was left behind when this part of the city went abandoned, Yuuto does so in his thief garb—as they may have to fight in a pinch, but it's easier to hide his identity this way... in the unlikely chance they stumble upon others out here, but one learns to play it safe when they've taken up the life of a criminal. (Neither him nor Morgana are considered criminals here, but that's a yet.) The scenery is incredible, in an eerie sort of way; for all the vacant cities left for nature to take over you see on television and photos online, Yuuto learns quickly that none of it matches up to the real deal.
Now he really wants to see what's been left behind in all these empty, broken buildings.
Yuuto pauses in a small clearing, craning his head upwards to see through the canopy of trees, then glances back down at Morgana. ]
... Kinda makes you wonder if there's stuff worth anything inside these places, huh?

a nya... that's so cute
There is! If you know what to look for, anyway.
[ Having found himself in his Phantom Thief outfit from the get-go (as much as it can be called an "outfit, anyway), the only addition Morgana's sporting today is his scimitar. He hasn't really had to use it so far in this place, thankfully. Small size and quick thinking get him out of most bad situations out here. Morgana clambers up onto the hood of something that resembles a rusted-out car, apparently for a better vantage point. Also probably so that he can talk on a more even level with Yuuto. He seems like he's in high spirits about the whole thing - as expected from the one who was an adventuring treasure thief from the outset of it all. ]
I've found lots of salvage out here. There might be some really valuable things tucked away somewhere, though! It's too bad I can't detect treasure in the real world.
just like mona
[ As handy as it'd be, Yuuto thinks nothing of it that they're currently lacking in that particular skill. If anything— ]
... No, maybe not that. It could add to the challenge of it.
[ Said as if looting around was nothing more than a fun past time, but Yuuto would be lying if he said he didn't find some enjoyment out of it. Life in Riverview so far has been too quiet for his liking within the city proper, truth be told—it was time to shake it up with a little thrill seeking, and this provided a good opportunity for exactly that.
He cants his head toward a warehouse looking building in the near distance, its higher floors seen from over the tops of the trees. ]
We could start there.
[ There's a good chance they could come up with nothing but junk, but he's curious to see what it's like inside regardless. ]
it's true
With his navigational skills essentially moot here, he follows Yuuto's gaze and nods in easy agreement. Working means looking for scrap and bits of machinery that they might be able to make use of. If they're out here on their free time, though? It's more like looking for treasure in Mementos. Anything could be out there. ]
Mm! I haven't been over there before. I can't really tell what they might have been storing there before from here... Let's go check it out!
[ he bounces down from the decaying vehicle and onto the ground, starting to trot in that direction. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any monsters in the area. He rarely sees them, but still... Fighting might be hard with just the two of them. ]
no subject
After allowing silence to fall between them for a handful of moments, Yuuto then asks: ]
Do they send you this far out a lot?
that icon is so cute wtf
[ morgana's little feet translate to short strides, so Yuuto will find himself walking beside the little cat-thing soon enough. He seems fairly at-ease for being out in a potentially dangerous area, looking up at him brightly. ]
But I'm surprised you haven't been out here at all. You're always doing risky stuff.
isn't it just....
I was starting to consider it.
[ No shame in admitting his recklessness; their team is well aware of it. ]
But I didn't know if running solo was only kind of a stupid idea or a really, really stupid one.
[ He has some self preservation, thank you, because he has no plans to wind up dead just yet. Though, the itch to try anyway was certainly there. ]
a good boy
For you? Hmmm... Probably somewhere in the middle.
[ Joker is the strongest one out of all of them, thanks to his special powers - they all know it, even if they don't necessarily acknowledge it.
Still. That doesn't mean Morgana can't picture him getting steamrolled out here. ]
Just stupid enough for you to still try. It's a good thing I'm here to keep you out of trouble.

I had so many bad decisions lined up, too... [ He trails off, shaking his head in faux disappointment. ] Well, I'll be relying on you now, 'specially since you know the territory better than I.

Leave it to me!
[ A few compliments go a long way for Morgana, as ever; he bounds off ahead a little bit, making sure they're not about to trip over a giant spider or whatever else might be lurking around these parts. Fortunately, they're not. It's a pretty straight shot to the warehouse - the worst it involves is finding ways around some particularly overgrown sections of road. As they get closer, it becomes obvious that the building is definitely some kind of old warehouse, and Morgana pauses where he stands, looking up at it speculatively. ]
... Hopefully, it's not the warehouse for a canned bean company or something like that.

He pauses in his steps as well once he catches up to Morgana, likewise taking a cursory glance around. ]
Unless that canned bean company had some magic beans lying around. We could plant a giant beanstalk...
[ He's joking, of course, if the amused twitch at the corners of his mouth imply anything. On the other hand, one could almost guess someone had already beaten them to that; vines coat the concrete walls, and tree roots spill through the few bottom floor windows there. Nature sure was aggressive enough on this moon that Yuuto would believe these sections of the city had been left abandoned more like a century rather than a decade. ]
