This is not the Carnivale post. This is just a tribute.

[ Another huff of a laugh, and he shakes his head a little. It's not such a terrible thing, he thinks, getting caught staring like this. And he doesn't turn away, memorizing the way the glow highlights the curve of her cheek, catches in the silver etched in her brow. ]

Nothing.

[ He lifts a shoulder in barely-there sort of shrug, and his smile widens a little, turns fond. ]

Just an unspoken thing.

[ That soft smile of hers doesn't disappear, and if anything, there's the gentlest crook to it.

Still that unspoken thing.

They haven't talked about it, not yet, and Gamora isn't certain if she's ready to (or even knows how best to start approaching it), but it's there, and she's more than willing to acknowledge that much. It's meaningful, no matter how out of her depth she feels, and maybe they'll have the chance to deal with it someday.

Maybe even sometime soon.

But for now? It can still be some unspoken thing.

She's not necessarily tentative about it, but she steps closer to Peter's side, reaching out to wind her arm around his waist as the gentle glow continues to pulse around them. ]

[ As she moves in, he lifts an arm, giving her a little more space. When she seems settled, he wraps his arm around her shoulder – just resting there, rather than pulling her in. If she wanted to be closer, she would have placed herself there to start, or she'll move in of her own accord.

They'll talk it through, one of these days. Just— there hasn't been a good time, he reasons. After the mess, after winding up here, with the two of them still trying to find their footing in this new place, it's not like he could throw, "Hey, you wanna be, like, an item?" into the mix in good conscience.

So this is fine, he thinks. Gamora, warm against his side, comfortable and at ease. He wants more, because Peter is selfish and greedy even at the best of times. He wishes Gamora would say something, whenever he makes those little overtures, but he's trying to temper his disappointment when she doesn't. He's trying to learn patience, too, trying to learn how to bide his time and wait for the right moment.

It's gotta be a good sign that she's not avoiding him; something must be working.

His looks up at the trees again, the glow of the flowers fading and fading. It reminds Peter a little of those glow in the dark stars he used to put on his bedroom ceiling, and he feels his smile widen a little with that faint bloom of nostalgia. ]

Thanks for bringing me here.

[ Something in her warms as she settles against Peter, allowing his arm around her without a hint of protest. She's become far more comfortable with physical contact (in the right moments, with the right people), and she doesn't even tense with the expectation of a fight, doesn't prepare to defend herself, because in a twist of fate that still startles her, Peter doesn't inspire the instinct in her. At least, not anymore. She doesn't feel like she has to prepare herself to throw him to the ground at a moment's notice, and she thinks that means that she— feels safe.

What a strange turn her life has taken.

She tilts her face towards him for a brief instant, letting her nose press lightly against his chest, and then she turns her eyes skyward to enjoy the last of the flowers' light. ]

Thank you for coming with me.

[ Gamora doesn't necessarily do blatant gratitude, considering "pleases" and "thank yous" are not high on her list of priorities, but she finds she genuinely means "thank you" now. He took this time to step away from an event he was clearly enjoying, and he's chosen to spend it with her instead.

That means something to her. ]

[He reigns his laugh in, and... yeah, that's deep. He's just pulling Jon into another loose little hug.]

When you're older I might tell you what happened - but trust me, these aren't scars anyone should be proud of.

[ Jon doesn't get why scars would be something to be proud of. But Jon is rather invulnerable. He's never gotten scars. Neither has his father. ]

Well, even if you're not . . . it still hurt, right? So people shouldn't make that worse.

It was less tell and more show. [He taps his head, Tony obviously knows what he means. Tony knows Wanda can play cheesy, 80s flashbacks in your brain.]

I did not expect everything to fall apart so quickly without me.

Oh? [Thor's brow is cocked once more.] Is that your opening line?

[ No, it's more like a pipe dream at this point. ]

I need more. What worked when we were younger — it's not enough.

[She's giggling, also a bit flushed and excited by all this. (And a bit drunk.)

Lup is fairly steady on her feet as they get back on solid (well, moving slowly) ground.]

It's kind of you to be so concerned for someone you've just met, but I really hate being coddled, so please don't worry too much.

[He gives a little peace sign, like that will help the fact that he's dying quicker than everyone else.] Aren't you the one who wanted to go beyond those protective walls? You look quite ordinary, so that was a little shocking, as well.

[He... the insulting way he says that is an accident...]

[Tony grimaces faintly in return. As complicated as his relationship with Wanda is, he will probably never be entirely comfortable with that.]

Yeah, well. Things got messy.

[ Alec just laughs around a mouthful of popcorn, covering his mouth with the back of his hand as he does. ]

Now you’re getting the full popcorn experience.

[He could be very serious. In fact he wouldn't really admit that he could be anything else, but he did find the antics of the younger paladins amusing. The food goo fight as a way to get back at Allura for all of "bonding" exercises she had made them do for example, complete with big dopey grin at how much fun it had been to do something so silly]

Unfortunately yes, he frequently is. Not all the time.

[Keith's temper maybe him appear grumpier than he was. If she had met him soon after arriving, he wouldn't have been in the best mood and could have been rather threatening because that's unfortunately what Keith did. At least since they were both here, Keith would feel more at ease]

Hmm... that would be the most ideal. I don't know much about how this place works and what the odds are of getting it. I would like to see it though if it does show up.

Keith. [He shook her hand in return.] I only got here a few days ago, so I guess you could say I'm still learning all this stuff.

[ Rin grins over the rim of his drink, leaning forward. Look at that blush!

He purrs, drawling out his response. ]

Oh, darling, it's delicious. Do you want a sip?

[ She gave a quiet "huh," in contemplation at trying to imagine someone being so grumpy so much of the time, and wondered what he was like on a team. There were a few grumps on her own squadron at home, sure, so maybe it was a similar kind of deal.

But then he mentioned wanting to see her mech and— she recognized a chance to show off and there was no way she wasn't going to take it. She pulls her phone out with a bit of excitement gleaming in her eyes. ]

If your mech's a black lion, then mine's a pink bunny. I have pics on my phone. Wanna see?

[ The guy's friends look like they might agree with Hana, starting to back away nervously. The man in the spider's web looks very much like he might agree with Hana, as he scrabbles fruitlessly at the wire at his neck. Widowmaker smiles and pulls it tighter, listening to the wet gasps of pain as metal bites into flesh. ]

It does seem that way...

[ She should kill him. She hungers for it, for that little bright burst of light and life it would bring into her dreary landscape... but this man is no target of hers, and unnecessary kills in a civilian world promise nothing but headache. With a faint, nearly imperceptible sigh she releases him. He stumbles away, chocking and near to crying, and the whole lot of them take that as their cue to make a hasty getaway.

Widowmaker's pale eyes find Hana's, meanwhile, and she watches her impassively. ]

How brave, running into a fight of odds stacked against you. [ It doesn't sound like praise. This girl really is young, isn't she? ]

[ He gestures for her to follow him and puts his arms behind his back casually once they start to walk. Genji gives a quite little hum in response and nods. ] Well, I have yet to cause any children to run away screaming when I remove it so. [ The grin behind the visor is obvious. ] So I suppose that's a good sign.

[ He's glad he's reached a point where he can joke about it, at least. (He used to be so terribly vain... although he still is, a touch.) ]

I can guarantee I don't wanna know fuck all about time travel.

[The Chalice is bad enough, any other kind of time travel is just going to get confusing and the less he knows about other kinds of time travel, the happier he'll be.]

And the name's Taako, that's T-to the double A-K-O.

[Since... Earth.]

[ While he wasn't expecting company, Yuuto doesn't seem to mind that's what he has now. He glances toward Rin from the corners of his eyes—one of the stranger looking fellows he's come across around these parts, though he takes that much in stride. ]

If I said a lot of noise, would that make more sense to you?

[ He's joking, of course... but still manages to ask with a straight face. ]

[Thor almost forgot about the drink in his hand, until Mantis drinking reminds him. He knocks back the whole thing in one gulp, dumping the plastic cup into a nearby receptacle.]

Then you've learned to use it to your advantage? Or are you more dedicated to the aid of others? [It's not accusatory, he's genuinely curious. His powers are.. vastly different.]

[Thor accepts the swat, since he's more than aware that he deserved it. Of course, he also knows that dodging the first swat means the second swat will come harder and faster.]

You're right. What you require is a drink. Come, it's my treat. [He beckons her toward the crowds.]

I haven't got any of it with me... [ Which seems like a heinous error, in hindsight, but Cisco hadn't anticipating running into a fellow engineer at the Carnivale festivities. But it is rare that anyone actually wants the whole tech show-and-tell, so Cisco isn't about to just say no here. ] ...but you're totally welcome to come by my workshop any time. And by totally welcome I mean please do because I would love to geek out about some of the projects I got going. Lemme get you the address.

[ And he scrawls out the address one of the few things he does have with him - the receipt for the beers he'd bought them. He sets it down on the table and says: ]

One more drink, then, and I can at least do the tell if not the show.

[ He returns a moment later with two more bottles, puts one down in front of Tony and then immediately launches into: ]

So I'm working on these anti-mind control earbuds. Well, more like... adapting a design that I had for some back in Central City.
