Wrapping up loose ends
who: 2B and others
what: saying good-byes
when: first half of July (before the amnesia event)
where: Abandoned City (prompt I) and the communal building (prompt II)
warnings: probably nothing, will update as needed
I. (open)
[Crash! An old rusted door in a ruined building is kicked in. The black-clad android quickly walks in and, glancing around to make sure there are no monsters or other hostiles, begins her search.
This is not the only place 2B visited recently. She's been on a trip around the abandoned city, looking around factories, hospitals, any place with a chance of finding still-functioning machinery that wasn't picked clean yet - easier said than done. But this is not an action sanctioned by the Perimeter Guard but rather her own individual decision, and she is definitely patient enough.
Since the android makes no secret of her scavenging, she should be easy enough to notice. Her objective on the other hand remains a mystery.]
II. (closed to people with CR - if you talked with her more than briefly you qualify here)
[The preparations are all done. All that is left - is to leave. Quietly, as she arrived, without making ripples of the Quarantine's society.
But even though her stay here was short, 2B learnt some important things. She got to know people, as more than just human beings that she had no prior contact. Perhaps she could even call some of them friends... and either way, the very least they deserve is to know.
This is why she has sent a message over the network, with quite a few recipients. The message was surprisingly hard to write, its contents took some mulling over but eventually 2B settled on:]
Even though I felt welcome in the Riverview Quarantine, I never made a secret of my intention of returning back to the world I originated from.
I paid my dues and the time of my departure is soon. As such it is my farewell.
If you wish to meet in person, I will be available in the community housing building.
Regardless of your choice, I am glad we could have shared our thoughts and experiences.
I appreciate it.
[Well, that's that. She'll be waiting around in the lobby - whether anyone shows up or not, she feels strangely at peace with herself.
Finally, something resembling closure.]

II.
However, he can't let her go just yet without giving her a few gifts. Because of that, she may see him arrive at the lobby holding a small box.]
Hello, 2B. I hope I didn't interrupt you on your preparations.
no subject
[She raises her head, meeting the source of a familiar voice.]
No, you're not interrupting anything. I'm ready to leave any time.
[She doesn't seem to carry much luggage. Or any, for that matter.]
I'm glad you received my message, though.
no subject
Also, I didn't get to thank you on how you helped me on my request, especially the time when my telekinesis manifested.
no subject
[She's being a little vague but somehow, 2B feels this choice of words is just right. Where would she even begin to describe it?]
Ah yes. Did you manage to control it in the end? No other incidents happened, I hope.
no subject
And regarding my current situation, I encountered several more problems regarding my powers. So far, I'm trying to train myself to control them as we speak.
no subject
[Well, that's not good. She's a little concerned right now actually.]
Did anything similar in scale to what the two of us witnessed has manifested itself?
no subject
She's still okay, but I don't know how long till I control my powers.
no subject
[2B nods, looking serious. Her expression of concern doesn't disappear.]
I wish I could leave only after I took care of everything here, in the Quarantine. Leave no unfinished business behind...
This isn't how the world works, is it? New complications keep appearing, so if I wanted to take care of them all, I'd stay here forever.
I should have faith that others are able to take care of their own problems themselves. After all, many times I saw proof of that.
[She takes a deeper breath and sighs.]
Sorry. I just needed to get this off my chest.
no subject
That's alright. You did need to share what you feel to others.
Besides, I think there are some people that may able to tackle on those complications in your place. Also, I do respect your decision, so I didn't ask any advice even after I told you my current situation.
no subject
I hope everything turns out right with your power. I trust you have what it takes to control it and use it for good.
After all, even though you said telekinesis almost injured your Garchomp, you had the skill to actually prevent that from happening.
[It's a bit awkward as far as encouragement goes, but 2B is actually trying genuinely here. She's just not very good at this kind of thing.]
no subject
Well, maybe my bond with her gave me the power to control it temporarily. In fact, I feel that her support helps me be better on my telekinesis training. But even if you're leaving, I know that I will able to break through this mental obstacle with the others' support.
Besides, we can't stay here forever. The world outside this city is waiting for us to discover what's out there. And that includes what's on the other side of that portal.
no subject
I too have this kind of a person, waiting back where I came from. But even when I return to him... I won't forget about the ones I met here.
no subject
Let's hope so. I am also wishing that I could go home as well. But after my arrival as well with the Pokemon, I feel that I'm still not done right now.
But before I forget...
[As he said this, he then gives the box he just brought to 2B.]
no subject
What's this? Something for me?
[She looks surprised. A present? How unusual.]
no subject
Yes, think of it as a farewell present.
[If 2B opens it, she will find a sapphire necklace with the pendant shaped like a metallic Honedge.]
no subject
[The box is opened indeed.]
A farewell present, is it? I can't say I received one before.
[Or in fact, any other present. 2B picks up the necklace from the box, observing it curiously while holding in hand.]
no subject
I just found a special jewelry shop that accepts custom orders and I think this Honedge sapphire pendant should be the perfect present for you to remember Riverview Quarantine.
What do you think?
no subject
It must have taken dedication to have this done on such a short notice. Thanks to it, I'll have something to remember - not just the Riverview Quarantine. Yourself too, Augustine Sycamore.
Thank you.
[She sounds a little awkward still. Apparently 2B isn't used to saying thanks either.]
no subject
Your welcome and please, call me Augustine or Professor Sycamore. It's much easier than my full name.
no subject
I'm glad I could meet you, Augustine.
[In the end, it's simple like that.]
no subject
[He then stretches his hand out as he offers her for a handshake.]
Good luck out there.
no subject
[She looks down on that hand. Even though it's not what 2B is used to, she knows what the gesture is about. And the time is right - the time to reach out and return the handshake.]
Only time will tell, won't it? It's not impossible either way.
no subject
Regardless, I will say this is not our final goodbye. I am sure of it.
no subject
[Augustine seems pretty confident about that. 2B herself isn't so sure but - whatever future will bring, finally she can look forward to it.]
no subject
Well, I should probably leave you to prepare for your departure then.
no subject
[A small nod. 2B pauses for a moment, then moves her hand to put Sycamore's gift on.]
Until we meet again then, Augustine.
[That's right. Not a farewell, but a see you around.]
no subject
[Sycamore then gives a sincere nod and smile as a reply before he climbs up the stairs. Although it might be the last time he will see 2B, he hopes that they will meet again in the near future.]
