Blinking at the brusque nature the man portrayed, Al quickly slid into the booth across from the man. He didn't even know his name yet ( the man hadn't given it ) but Al figured he was similar to Ed in his paranoia. Or something similar. He decided it was best to not ask questions and beckoned Ed to sit next to him before peering down at the arm.

One thing was for sure. It was far different from automail. Al didn't recognize the wiring and he had watched many times as Winry worked on Ed's automail or reattached it. It always seemed like a painful experience for Ed, and Al couldn't help wondering if it was painful for the stranger.

"This is a little more advanced than Brother's automail," Al quickly explained. "We might not be able to fix all of it, but we might be able to adjust a few parts so it works better. Brother? What do you think?"

"Yeah. Do what you can. It's more than I can do." Well, fuck. Two people...who, yeah, don't expect him to tell them apart any time soon...knowing he's down one working hand, and not able to really fix it.

It's clear he's not happy with their response. Frankenstein's 'not happy' probably looks a lot like most people's 'pissed right off', but he manages--eventually--to beat the scowl on his face into submission.

"How do you know you can trust him?" Trust issues are important, man.

Once more, Al is reminded of Ed's paranoia as he gives the man's arm a look over. he's already been scolded by Ed for telling people about his arm, but in Al's estimation, it's worth it if it keeps Ed's arm in good repair. After all, that same arm is the one Ed gave up to save him and he wants to make that sacrifice worthwhile, especially since he can't find a way to have Ed's arm restored.

"Should we tell him, Brother?" he asks Ed, eyes shifting from the stranger's arm to his brother's. As usual, he can see the sliver of metal that gleams from between the cuff of Ed's jacket and his glove. It wouldn't be noticeable if one didn't know what to look for, but Al did. "About..." And he nods towards Ed's hand.

"Sometimes." Yeah, not in his world, so much. Still, he doesn't have much choice. You can only go around casually posing with a non functional right hand before someone catches on that no one is that suave. Helpless. Sparky.

Still, that show of the other guy's hand--what did they call it? Automail? is something else. Though, not in bad shape, like his was. "How'd you get yours?"

As Frankenstein directs his question towards his brother, Al considers the sparking arm set in front of him. He looks it over with interest, gears already turning in his head for how he can fix it for the time being. He's not sure if he should answer the question because it requires a deep, personal response, and though he's grateful for the sacrifice Ed made on his behalf, he's not sure he should be the one to reveal his secret.

So he glances at Ed, mercury-colored eyes wide to indicate without words that he's okay if Ed does decide to explain. But also that he's alright with Ed choosing not to.
