who: Shadowhunter cast!
what: Max wakes up in the hospital and his family comes to get him, catch all for anything else other canonmates want to do!
when: After they've all arrived
where: Hospital, other places TBD
warnings: SPOILERS for the book series and probably spoilers for the Shadowhunters TV show too just to be on the safe side, also mentions of violence

This was not where Max had been expecting to wake up. He hadn't been surprised to wake up in a hospital, but after the video he'd been shown, an alternate universe was definitely a surprise. It wouldn't be too much to wrap his head around, given time, since he'd read plenty of books with things like that in them and his family fought demons. He might have even been geeking out about it if he hadn't been so worried about his family. The last few things he remembered were demons invading Alicante, Alec running off to go find Aline, and Izzy going to get her stele while leaving him with Sebastian... Sebastian who had attacked him with a hammer. He remembered hearing someone coming up behind him, turning and seeing Sebastian swinging it at him, then everything going black. The next thing he'd known, he was waking up here.

He'd asked about his family after he'd been shown the video and while they hadn't known anything about most of them, they did mention an Alec Lightwood that had arrived at the same time he did and asked if they were related since they had the same last name. Once Max confirmed that was indeed his brother, the person had said they would send someone to go find Alec and tell him Max was here. While he'd been waiting, they'd asked him some questions and had him do some bioscan. When they'd asked about any special abilities he had that would be biologically-based, he'd been reluctant to answer at first but had eventually given in, holding onto his stele tightly so they wouldn't take it away.

They hadn't and Max was now holding it and the toy soldier he'd been gripping when Sebastian had attacked him tightly in his hands, waiting in a chair in the room he'd woken up in while looking out the window. His glasses were okay but he'd been given a new pair of clothes to wear, having been told his old ones had been destroyed. He might have also enjoyed the view more if he still wasn't worrying about his family. He hoped Alec would be able to tell him more about what had happened.

It's a relief to Izzy that he looks good. She doesn't see any glaring issue that sets off the worry that she has for the smallest Lightwood on the regular. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite, Izzy feels relieved to be able to see him for herself and to have that reassurance that he really is doing okay. She can hardly believe that he's here, though. After what had come out after the battle her mind had been blown and she had...almost convinced herself that she would never see the rest of her family again.

And in the case of Max that wasn't a happy piece of knowledge.

"I am! Better late than never, right?" Izzy doesn't hesitate, hugging Max back tightly and then leaning down enough to press a playful kiss to his forehead before tousling his hair. "Hope you didn't miss me too much, handsome." She's just going to keep things calm and normal for now; that's the best way to do this, though, it's only just starting to hit her that unlike normal...there are no parents here to take care of Max. It's just them. Her, Alec, Jace. Max is now their responsibility.

"How you feeling?"

Izzy can't quite help but match Max's bemusement. She would definitely remember if she had been with her little brother before showing up in this place. And the fact of the matter is that she wasn't. She's actually pretty glad that she wasn't, considering the way that things unfolded in Wayward Pines. "I think I made a pit stop between then and now."Izzy says, keeping it simple, and light.

He doesn't need to be doing any worrying, after all. Plus, the fact that he's in the hospital...even if he's ready to leave has an effect on just how much she wants to say right about now. Better to keep him calm.

"They'll let you leave when they think you're all set, just be patient." Izzy offers Max a smile before her eyes move over his head, as if trying to find something wrong herself. "And bumps on the head can be more serious than you think, so I'm pretty sure that they're doing their job here, little brother." Izzy knows there are multiple head injuries that can be serious, so as far as she's concerned until he's cleared Max is in the right place.

Izzy nods automatically in answer to Max's question. Alec already having explained things does make her explanation a lot less necessary. It saves her from potentially explaining it badly. "Exactly like that. I was with Alec before I got here, actually." Izzy tacks that on, a small smile on her face. Max wasn't in Wayward Pines with them, but having him here really is better, a relief even.

Laughing at Max's overdramatic, in her opinion anyway, sigh Izzy nudges her little brother back toward the hospital furniture. "You'll get the chance. I'm pretty sure that nothing is going anywhere in the meantime." Or, at least, she hopes. But you can't say that to a kid, after all. Still, she feels relatively confident in saying that for the moment. The scenery didn't change in Wayward Pines so much as everything else did. So, if anything changes here...that'd be what she'd expect it to be...not the sights to explore.

"And, yes, it's really a whole different world. Kind of sounds crazy, or like something out of a sci-fi book or movie doesn't it?"

Leave it to her little brother to play connect the dots. And leave it to Alec to give him the pieces that he needs in order to do so. "I think, for the most part, my memory is in tact, but there are a few things that I haven't fully sorted out." Izzy tells Max, avoiding giving a full yes or no. She doesn't want him worried about her memory, after all. She remembers everything important. There are still some components, some things, that conflict, but they aren't details about her family.

So, everything important that really matters is fully in tact. And that means that she'll sort it out or it'll just be forgotten.. She hopes, anyway.

Watching Max climb on the chair, Iz can't help but laugh. Not even being in the hospital can dampen his curiosity. "Chairs aren't for sanding, you know." Izzy points out, the fondness in her voice not even hidden while she moves over to the window to peer out at the view herself. She can get the reason that he wants to be out, to explore. She's not even a kid and she wants to know more. Though, she might have marginally more patience than Max.

"Like I said, you'll get the chance if you're patient." Izzy reaches out, poking her little brother. "Good things come to those who wait and all that."

Izzy knows that she should probably be a little more miffed at the cheeky look that Max gives her, but instead she can only manage amusement. It's hard for someone his age to hold back the excitement and interest in this new setting. At his age she probably would've done the same, honestly. "Don't fall." It's both a tease and a warning for the younger sibling. Because even though Izzy could repeat herself, she chooses not to, instead letting his eagerness and perch on the chair slide for the moment.

She's an older sibling, not a parent, so she doesn't make a point to boss Max around at every possible point, after all. Still, she's keeping an eye on him, just to be safe and not sorry. She doesn't want him to take a tumble.

"Well, I can tell you (for sure) that there are people. Buildings. A number of things that aren't that different from home, but I'm sure we'll find more too. And probably at least one or two cool things when we explore." Izzy concedes to the youngest Lightwoods excitement with a smile. It'd probably take tying him up (which none of them would ever do) to really keep him from getting out there and satisfying his curiosity, anyway.

"I'm sure Alec or Jace would be more than happy to discover everything new that there is to offer here with you, anyway." Moving so that she can prop her hip against tl, Izzy crosses her arms, studying her little brother for a moment. "You're sure you feel fine? You're not just saying it because you're ready to escape from the hospital, kiddo?"

"You say that now." Izzy murmurs, a bit of a turn to the corners of her mouth. She can't help it. Every pore of her little brother's being makes it easy to see that he doesn't want to be here--he's ready to leave the hospital already--and it's too bad that he's stuck here until everyone is satisfied that he's good to go. And Izzy is definitely one of those people.

"Lucky you, little brother, I can't foresee any situation that means we'd need to lock you up, at the moment. Do me a favor and don't change that." She's not exactly sure what exactly Max means by last time, but most of her thinks that it's the normal kid dramatics. Lord knows that she had her moments when she was younger.

Much as Max wants to belittle what happened, and being hurt, the scientific side of Izzy's brain can't ignore that blows to the head really can't be tricky, but she doesn't say anything (instead letting Max's comment go because she knows she's being...maybe a little extra protective and worried), at least not until Max gives himself a knock to the head. Reaching out to swat his hand away, Izzy gives a dry look that could actually compete with their older brothers'. "You can promise without the show, Max. Lets not tempt fate. We need to make sure that brain of your's is good to go and not taking more abuse than absolutely necessary." The comment borders on teasing, but Izzy peers back at the door.

"Do you want me to go talk with Alec, and maybe the doctor and nurses, to figure out the ETA on getting you busted out of this place?"
