who: Shadowhunter cast!
what: Max wakes up in the hospital and his family comes to get him, catch all for anything else other canonmates want to do!
when: After they've all arrived
where: Hospital, other places TBD
warnings: SPOILERS for the book series and probably spoilers for the Shadowhunters TV show too just to be on the safe side, also mentions of violence

This was not where Max had been expecting to wake up. He hadn't been surprised to wake up in a hospital, but after the video he'd been shown, an alternate universe was definitely a surprise. It wouldn't be too much to wrap his head around, given time, since he'd read plenty of books with things like that in them and his family fought demons. He might have even been geeking out about it if he hadn't been so worried about his family. The last few things he remembered were demons invading Alicante, Alec running off to go find Aline, and Izzy going to get her stele while leaving him with Sebastian... Sebastian who had attacked him with a hammer. He remembered hearing someone coming up behind him, turning and seeing Sebastian swinging it at him, then everything going black. The next thing he'd known, he was waking up here.

He'd asked about his family after he'd been shown the video and while they hadn't known anything about most of them, they did mention an Alec Lightwood that had arrived at the same time he did and asked if they were related since they had the same last name. Once Max confirmed that was indeed his brother, the person had said they would send someone to go find Alec and tell him Max was here. While he'd been waiting, they'd asked him some questions and had him do some bioscan. When they'd asked about any special abilities he had that would be biologically-based, he'd been reluctant to answer at first but had eventually given in, holding onto his stele tightly so they wouldn't take it away.

They hadn't and Max was now holding it and the toy soldier he'd been gripping when Sebastian had attacked him tightly in his hands, waiting in a chair in the room he'd woken up in while looking out the window. His glasses were okay but he'd been given a new pair of clothes to wear, having been told his old ones had been destroyed. He might have also enjoyed the view more if he still wasn't worrying about his family. He hoped Alec would be able to tell him more about what had happened.

Lately, it seems like there's always something on Magnus' mind, thanks to the Lightwoods and seemingly constant change of address. But he's a centuries-old warlock, and as much as he hates the thought of it, he'd be able to survive even without Alec; it's reassuring to know that he doesn't have to experience that, though, or being apart from the other Lightwood siblings. But still, having people that one cares about also opens one up to the possibility of heartache, and Izzy is observant enough to know that Magnus is bothered about something.

"Before," he explains, going over the explanation he'd been given. "Head trauma, but he's going to make a full recovery. That isn't the part that worries me." The statement isn't entirely true, since he'd felt concern for Max's condition, but there's more to it that will most likely have a lasting effect on the older Lightwoods. Hesitating a moment, trying to decide if this really was the best time to be bringing it up, he pushes on in a hushed voice. "He said that someone named Sebastian attacked him in Idris. Alec has corroborated the story, says I should remember this, but I have no recollection of being in Idris with him."

Pushing aside her concern for Magnus and the fact that there's something in the air (not literally, but there is something going on), Izzy focuses on what her brother-in-law can fill her in on about Max. He is the reason that they're all here. And Izzy wants to be completely appraised of the situation. The fact that Max got his injury before he arrival, though, does cause Izzy to furrow her brows. It's not impossible for training accidents to happen, but knowing there's more...well...Izzy can't help but try and brace herself, nodding for Magnus to continue, the warlock having her full attention.

What could make her baby brother being injured even more concerning? She's not entirely sure, honestly. And despite her brain going through possibilities, she's not coming up with anything automatically. And she knows that it isn't likely she's going to just be able to guess. So, when Magnus seems to get past his hesitation, well, she's glad. For all of a moment, anyway.

"Sebastian?" Wrinkling her nose in confusion, Izzy can't quite connect the name to a face. She doesn't know any Sebastians. "Who the hell is Sebastian and why would he attack Max...and when and why were you in Idris?" The red flags are definitely up in Izzy's mind. She can't help but go back to what was said in Wayward Pines when the truth came out. Different worlds. Surely, though, that's not what's going on here. It has to be false memories...on someone's part, but does that mean it's her and Magnus...or that it's Alec...because Max was never in Wayward Pines. "I don't remember any of this, none of it sounds familiar to me either. And I'd remember word of my little brother being attacked."

Izzy frowns, looking toward the hospital room that Max is in at the moment. Magnus really wasn't kidding when he said that this was worrisome. "Max wasn't in Wayward Pines....so we can assume that it's not a false memory." Izzy speaks quietly, trying to work through this, but not quite liking where that's taking her. Looking at Magnus, she can't help the confusion on her face because if Alec shares he memory with Max it either means she and Magnus are missing some memories, or something all together much more complicated.
