who: Taako & whoever wants in on this
what: Fighting monsters in a tunnel basically counts as a dungeon crawl, right?
when: Late March
where: Those tunnels!!
warnings: Uh, violence, eldritch horrors maybe, he's got some weird spells
notes: If you wanna do something that doesn't involve fighting hmu at
batsecretary!!
[Regardless of who asks, Taako will maintain that he had a shitty cleric back home, but suddenly being without one at all is making him appreciate Merle way more than he ever did. Not having a team to rely on makes battle a lot more uncertain; there's no Magnus to take the brunt of the damage, no Merle to heal or buff them as needed, no helpful NPC to swoop in and save the day.
But a threat to the city means a threat to him, so he's signed up to help cull the creatures in the tunnels. He needs the experience, too, if he's going to level up and figure out a spell strong enough to get him home.
Really though he's just hoping that these creatures are easy enough to dispatch, and mostly he's right. Compared to some of the shit he's had to put up with, over-sized lizards aren't particularly scary, nor particularly threatening, though the amount of them is concerning. Luckily he has a lot of area of effect spells.
In the interest of not immediately running out of spell slots, he starts with low level spells and his single attack cantrip, which results in a lot of frozen creatures leaving a trail behind him, although a few of them have also been on the receiving end of a magic missile, leaving them just straight up dead.
Eventually he moves on to stronger shit: a large sphere of fire moves through the tunnels, directed by Taako, held still when he comes across any allies so that they can move around it, and he'll encourage people to stick with him, since he's used to fighting in groups. At some point, a little troupe of water elementals follow after him, attacking any of the creatures that get too close.
It starts to take it's toll, though, both the spellcasting and the attacks that the creatures manage to get in. His clothes are torn and bloody, and he leans a little more heavily on the Umbra Staff at some points, just needing to take a breather. Finally, he realizes it's worth spending two spell slots on fixing himself up, and waits until he comes across a large group of the lizards.
Sleep knocks them unconscious, and Taako kneels down in the middle of them, reaching out with a hand wreathed in shadow. When he touches the creatures, they awaken for a very brief struggle, before they just... die. Taako's wounds knit themselves back together, he sits up a little straighter, and moves on to the next one and the next one until they're all dead.
And then he gets back to work.]

[There are a few brief pauses as Ronan speaks, filled by his gasps for breath. He makes a habit of small fist fights and brawls, not protracted killing of lizard. Plus some of his skin finally broke open from whaling on the reptile thing. He would make a mental note to invest in gloves but he kicks the creature instead to see if it budges.
Nope. Still out.]

["Heat-death" of the universe is a little beyond his understanding of science, at least for now.
In better news, he's finally finished with his transmutation spell, which means he can heft up the bat and offer it handle-first to Ronan. It's not really a baseball bat in the traditional sense, so much that it's just a baseball bat shaped hunk of steel.
But it'll hit harder, this way.]
Here ya go.

[Ronan doesn't know the mechanics of it. He has bigger worries than the universe hypothetically dying billions of years after he's gone. Like, for instance, getting a magic steel bat.]
Sweet. Thanks, man.
[Alright so he's closer to forgiving him for earlier. Not that Ronan bears grudges for long anyway.
He takes the bat. It's heavier than he's used to so he gives it a few practice swings. His hands ache but it's from throwing punches against thick scales not the use of this weapon.]
Any drawbacks to this? I don't know your magic.
no subject
Nah, it's all good. This is straight up transmutation, it's forgotten it was ever anything but that bat.
[Taako gets back to his feet, brushing dirt off his clothes, and hooking the umbra staff back on his arm where it belongs.]
You wanna do this team up bullshit or you wanna do your own thing?
[He could use a little back up, but he's not going to force Ronan to stick around.]
no subject
Transmutation, huh? It's a lot less time consuming. He likes it.]
You went out of your way to make this. I've got to pay you back somehow. Anyway, I don't cut and run. Lead on, wizard-man. Or elf?
no subject
Elf, wizard elf. If the ears don't make it super obvious I dunno how to help you.
[He's not really that insulted he's just being a drama queen.
But the dramatics don't stop him from picking a direction and starting to walk, using those long ears to listen out for any telltale skittering or screeching.]

[He follows along but not before he dispatches the unconscious lizard a few feet away. It would be poetic for it to sneak up on them later, but Ronan's not in the mood for a death worthy of a song to warn kids not to be merciful or something.]
no subject
[He's sort of laughing at the idea, though, so good job Ronan.]

[Ronan's voice is, as usual, coated with sarcasm. He swings his bat around idly.]
Congrats to your parents for having the pretty orc baby.
no subject
I'm sure orcs would be kinda upset about having a pretty baby, but I'm not the expert.
[He could ask Killian if she were here but that's probably like.. orcist or something.]
no subject
Beauty in the eye of the beholder and yadda yadda.
[Ronan idly swings the bat around. It keeps his blood going, not that that's the reason. He is rarely aware of any reasons for the things he does.]
You know any orcs?
[Again, he's trying to work around the idea of talking to a person from a real life fantasy world despite being from his own, different real life fantasy world.]
