Lampyr is Here for You.
If anyone missed his commercial, or simply didn't want to respond to it, they may instead find his second marketing scheme. Around the city, usually hidden in alleyways, you may find a small display similar to sample trays in grocery stores. Each has a sign that says "DRINK ME" in a bright neon color, which matches the covered trays of drinks below it. Sketchy? Absolutely, but curiosity may take the better of you... or maybe you read the inscription on the table siting the tempting results of the liquid.
RED - ENRAGED LAMPYR: Feel as strong as an ox! Filled with bravery and fighting spirit! Defeat your foes without giving them a chance!
ORANGE - HONEST LAMPYR: Open up your inner emotions! Come to terms with startling truths! Share with others to learn their deepest secrets!
YELLOW - FEARFUL LAMPYR: Enhance your adrenaline! Give yourself goosebumps or share with enemies for a frightful surprise! Raise the stakes of night-time hide-and-seek!
GREEN - ENVIOUS LAMPYR: Test your social safety! Learn the intentions of others! Share with friends and lovers to learn their honest opinion of you!
BLUE - GRIEVING LAMPYR: Strengthen your bonds! Open the depths of your feelings! Instigate attachment with others!
PURPLE - AFFECTIONATE LAMPYR: Let go of your reservations! Accustom yourself with touch and social comfort! Become cuddly!
Each display also features a very crude drawing of a firefly showing the appropriate emotion, although it looks like a kindergartener drew it. One of these days Dodger will have to hire an artist. While your character will not see Dodger initially, he is watching from a nearby hiding place and will come to observe and mess with them if they take a sample, to see the effects of the drink.
The drink tastes spicy, savory, sour, bitter, sweet and minty respectively, although not particularly good regardless. They all have an aftertaste like cough syrup. Obviously the effects don't exactly match up with the claims; they simply give you a very strong form of that emotion, which may lead to side effects. Bloodlust, impulsive truths, paranoid hallucinations, a compulsive need to check your importance to others, uncontrollable crying, or a lovedrunk, affectionate stupor are respectively the most common side effects. Though the effects are strong, they are significantly lessened within an hour (when they stop entirely is up to the player) and the character will never do anything they are morally against.
While Dodger will generally try to speak to anyone who has inadvertently become a test subject, feel free to make open top-levels for others to come across your character in an affected state. Please assume that Dodger is watching them during their exchange, though, and any information passed between them is now known by him.

Come the release of the mines and springs nimbly backward, rifle suddenly held before her and ready, and then — Dodger. Of course it would be a face like his that she sees, wouldn't it? And all banged up, which simply matches him. She had thought she might regret allowing him access to her tools...
The barrel of the rifle lowers, but she doesn't put it away. Her eyes narrow as she stares at him. ]
It seems to me you have had your drink. One should not be greedy.
no subject
Correction - Officer Jamison Kingsley had my drink. You still owe me one.
[He's actually laughing softly; just a pleasant little chuckle, like the fact that she could kill him is a cute joke.]
C'mon, you really gonna put all this effort to waste?
no subject
Monsieur, have you hit your head? You seem confused. You have mistaken me for someone receptive to... any of this.
[ That's when she steps forward, and in one swift motion she closes the balcony door on him. She glares through the glass panels, voice just loud enough to be heard: ] Do not enter my room again.
no subject
When she closes the door, he disappears in a flash of sparks, and with a loud pop appears directly behind her instead.] I don't appreciate being told 'no'. We had a deal, the least you can do is have some fun with it.
no subject
She doesn't turn to face him immediately, but takes a moment first to savor the anger beginning to rise through her. This is rare. She should thank him for for this — for making her feel something at all.
When she finally turns, slowly, the barrel of the Widow's Kiss has risen just slightly. She'll have it on him in an instant, if needed. Her sniper's gaze levels steadily on Dodger's face, unwavering. ]
A dead woman honored your deal. Perhaps this is unfortunate for you, but it is as it is. And so, you are being told no.
no subject
[Again, the gun doesn't bother him. He could break it if he wanted to, with it so close to him, but he's being polite. Whoever hits first in these sort of games is the one who loses. Still, he never relaxes even as he leans against the wall behind him. He's ready to move if she decides to get violent after all.]
You're not very married anymore, so what's one night fucking around with a friend?
no subject
There are some things, however, that break her from her reactionary state of being. Dodger has just found one of them.
The fact that he isn't wrong doesn't stop what's coming; if anything, it encourages it. Widow slides from perfectly still to a sudden flurry of motion; it's a lunge, the lightning strike of a waiting spider. Her leg swings up, aiming a sharp-heeled blow for the side of Dodger's head meant to knock him to the floor. ]
no subject
The noise he makes is almost a huff of amusement.]
Really? We're hitting now? I thought we had a nice thing going here.
no subject
We did. And then you brought it to an end.
[ Then she pushes hard on the trapped leg, leaning her full weight and all the momentum she can gather into it, to push off of his hold and free her leg as she swings into a flip, gun still in hand. If this is a fight, which is an option she now has zero qualms with, then she won't be having it at close quarters. She'll head for the balcony door, intending to crash through the glass and into the night. ]
no subject
He knows her type, she'll be best at a fight that relies on acrobatics and distance. He can handle that sort of combat, but he works best at close range. And to discourage her from struggling, his skin has become searing hot, enough so to burn or melt her suit. If she does struggle he'll grip her harder, and it will hurt more.]
Listen, if you want to fight, I'll fight. But I hate to kill someone I've got common ground with.
no subject
You are so confident, mon poussin. I hope it is not misplaced.
[ Because the instant he looses his grip, she'll be ready for it. That one instant is all she needs. ]
no subject
I could break your wrist like this.
[It's a comment without heat - just letting her know in case she's wondering. His skin may not be quite as hot now, but it can flare up at any moment if he feels it needs to.]
I'd hate to hurt a sniper, you're a valuable resource. And whatever fucked up world you come from, you've got some nifty toys to play with. So how about I let you go, and you cool your shit. Or else I have to explain to Reaper what his best friend from Talon is doing in a pool of her own blood, and neither of us wants that.
[this is how you get girls right.]
no subject
Her eyes never waver off of his, but the smile does fade out again. ]
Let me go and see yourself out. [ While she envisions his scarred and beaten face as seen from the end of her scope. God, what a sight it would be. ]
no subject
We'll reopen discussion about that drink. [His tone is insistent, but firm.] But I'll leave you to your thoughts.
[With that, he lets go of her. And then he disappears in another flash of sparks, which train down through the floor as he heads back to his room.]
no subject
Within five minutes she's gathered what few belongings she considers useful and disappeared from the room for good. She'll be living elsewhere now, somewhere less known. ]
