I. After Work
Working in a hospital is always a strange feeling to him now. Ever since he took that position as Chief Medical Officer that Jim offered him, his view of medical care had changed intensely. Now it felt even stranger in a lot of ways. The technology wasn’t the same. Not that it was the dark ages, but it certainly isn’t what he’s used to.
Which was why he didn’t leave immediately from his shift end. He sat with manuals on the medical technology and different available medicines spread out over the table so he could read. He pretty much took over a quieter break room, intent on staying out of the way and getting some work done. Between reviewing charts of patients and the books. It felt a whole lot like he was back in medical school again.
At some point though, he likely should’ve made a pot of coffee because he soon started to feel his eyelids get heavier. Right along with the feeling of heaviness that came with that impending feeling of falling asleep. He refused to give up just yet, though.
Which is likely why his head finally made contact with the book as he was out like a light.
II. Lunch Break
He forgot his lunch. Somewhere in the rush to get his shit together that morning, he left the apartment without his food. Which meant he had to make a run out to scrounge up something to eat. Something he just hated to do. It meant less healthy choices and more exercise later to make up for it. Not that he was against exercise. Just workin’ in a damn hospital also made it harder to keep a normal schedule as it was.
So there he was, standin’ on a sidewalk tryin’ to decide where he should go to find the lesser evil of fast food. Nothin’ seemed all that promisin’ however.
III. Wildcard! Start what you want with him.

Yeah, he sounded slightly put out at that. Mainly cause whatever Jim did to get his hands on a car while only thirteen meant it was not going to be smiled upon. Letting out a soft sigh, he looked back at her and smirked a little. "Don't think I've met that Gladio person. Seems like a nice guy though if he's willing to give you a piggy back ride." He tried to focus on how cute that must be, rather than puzzle out how the hell Jim got a car to begin with.
Sliding into a chair, he set the food down and started to open up containers. "Got a place to stay in the mean time?"

"Wait - " She pauses, seeming to reach back in her mind to her conversations with Jim in the car. He'd talked to her about someone he was staying with who looked out for him that he'd called 'Bones' - maybe she'd managed to stumble on him? It seems about right, though... she wouldn't have called him 'old' necessarily. Probably one of those things she shouldn't rat Jim out about, she knows, but at the same time.
What part of that was interesting? "- He said he was staying with an old guy named 'Bones' - but you don't look that old. Grandfather is old." Connected to oxygen and the lot, in a wheelchair.. that's what she considered old. Donov Mayer was ancient, compared to her. Bones wasn't nearly that old from what she could tell, and it was only natural to be up front about these kinds of things, right? Right. She boosts herself in to her own seat, carefully picking open containers with the same meticulous air about her that she has as an adult, placing things down in a very precise manner.
"No. But I've met enough people that I think I will, anyway."

Least she didn't think he was old. It helped a little with the ruffled ego. His own comments aside, he didn't really think he was old just yet. "Well, if you don't find anything, you can stay with Jim and I. I rather you not wander about with no place to go. So our door is always open. Maybe you can help me deal with his teenage craziness." Not that he expected her to be much better, but at least they would keep each other company.

To be fair, younger Jim probably would consider Bones an old guy. Hell, if Re-L didn't have Donov as a reference point for 'old' she'd have probably said the same thing. People in Romdeau tend to remain young in appearance anyways, but... too many times under a revitalizing lift or whatever else and everyone began to show a little wear, right? "Well, grandfather still looks much older. And you're not in a wheelchair, so..."
She shrugs. Childish ignorance, yes, but to her he does not seem any bit of 'old.'
(Yet.)
She makes a small noise of contemplation whilst digging in to her food, seeming to think his offer over. "Well.. it can't hurt until I find Iggy."
We can probably tie this up here? <3
He offered her a small smile leaving that statement ambiguous. Whether they were right or not was really up for interpretation sometimes, but it was a true statement regardless. "Sounds like a good plan though. So just eat up and you can crash with us till you find what you need, alright?"
Or rather, they figure out how to get them back to normal. He really didn't want to raise them again. That just wasn't high on his list of things to do. But he'd do anything for them, so come what may, he wasn't ditchin' 'em.
