In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.
Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire week. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.
i. gift fountain
While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the week, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the week.
Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. ETA: If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.
This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming posts on the OOC community and the TDM.
ii. speed-friending
This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!
For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!
iii. club exhibition
Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a week-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.
And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.
iv. unveiling the new friendr
Prijata this year is marked by something special - the unveiling of a code rebuild of the ubiquitous Friendr app! Anyone with the app installed already will receive a prompt to update the app, and if anyone hasn't yet downloaded it, they'll receive a quick, easily-dismissed pop-up ad on their device when they next access the network, asking if they want to. No one is obligated, and the ad is a one-time instance, intended to make sure any character who hasn't heard of the app gets a chance.
The Friendr app is a swipe-left-or-right style friend matching and/or dating app that is very common in Riverview, both for PCs and NPCs, and it has received an upgrade with a new appearance, a new interests line for more accurate matching, and a wide variety of themes so that the colors can be customized!
Please see the updated appearance below, with the 'default' color scheme. Players are free to change the colors or appearance of the code but please do not remove the credit line showing where the base code came from, out of respect for the code creator.

[Spike has been watching the people strolling up to the fountain and random little boxes just appearing. He's also seen them pick them up and take off with them with no one calling foul. Seems to be part of the whole odd little celebration going on at the moment, and Spike feels he'd be remiss in blending in if he didn't play along.
Nonchalantly, he strolls over to the fountain, watching as a pair of people leave, both cooing over what's in their boxes. Looking around, he sees a box floating over to him, whistling oh so subtly as he just bends his knees to scoop it out of the water, continuing on his way, all the while waiting to hear someone tell him to put it back. No one did, but he still waited until he was around the corner of an alley to open it.]
Huh. Fancy that.
[Top tossed aside, Spike looked down to see a carton of the cigarettes he'd been favoring from home.]
Saves me the cash. Might be able to make some off this.
[He remembered the biker who had a preference for them. But for now, Spike was going to tear the carton open and draw out one of the packs, smiling to himself as he screwed it into his lips and flicked his lighter open.]

[Spike may not be one to fill out a little form like a pathetic sod and hope someone will 'be his friend', but he's all for seeing what sort of clubs and play-places this city has. He's stuck here for the foreseeable future, after all. Makes sense to find something fun to do.]

[ The clamoring around the club tables is a bit much, but.. unfortunately it seems to be the only way through certain parts of town. Her few days off from patrol post-mission had mostly been taken up with sleeping and a few deep cleaning baths to make sure she hadn't brought home any weird conditions from the marshes around the outside of the Quarantine, but eventually wasting time away in her new apartment had grown a little stale.
Her usual coffee drink in hand she makes her way through the festivities, mostly avoided thanks to being skillful in winding her way through the middl of the crowd instead of lingering to the sides, and, well - it helps to be a taller girl with a little too much black clothing and maybe too much blue make-up at your disposal, too. Either way, there's no rest from the constant clamor of voices, and eventually she'll cross paths with a few people she knows even in passing, a quick hello and nod, nothing too entirely personal said before she moves on.
At least until she catches Spike's comment on 'non-demons' and has to have a little bit of a chuckle for herself. ]
Who's to say that they aren't their own kind of demon? All this clamor and attention grabbing doesn't seem far off.

Smell too human? [ That's an interesting tidbit. She can't say she's ever pinned someone by smell - if she had, it would've sorted out quite a few mysteries about Vincent a little more quickly. Either way, she's one part intrigued, another part annoyed at the 'pet' nickname.
Her brow arches slightly at that, taking a look at where he indicated with a quick glance, then back to him as if asking how the hell he could know it from the looks of her. Granted, she's fairly distinct, but - ]

If it's not a sports team I doubt they expect something so far as 'solidarity.' [ Not that she's ever been a part of either - a club or a sports team. There's too much work to be done for fellow citizens of Romdeau Dome to spend doing things like club activities and sports games. There's a bit of a look at the cigarette - mainly because she doesn't want to smell it, but there's always the escape hatch option of, you know, walking away. ]
Considering all the people here, I wouldn't doubt it exists. Or that they might recruit for people to give.

I guess you could say that. [ She wonders if being a clone of a demigod-esque figure makes for some kind of special blood power up, but she has no intentions at all of finding out, either. Honestly, Re-L's interest is more focused on the 'demon' with acid for blood. After all, the only demons she's ever heard of or bothered with were in stories and mentioned in philosophy from time to time. ]
I imagine that's a fairly gruesome process, if not completely ill informed. Drinking blood off of anything demonic seems to be a not-too-bright policy. [ Not that she seems all that phased. She's used to gruesome finds of dead bodies and all that lot, but - the whole thing seems like it might've been dreamed up in an attempt to spook her too. ]

The mention of rats, though, sends her nose wrinkling and nostrils flaring, eyes narrowing at him in a silent 'you can't be serious.' ]
I don't think, even if I were to need blood to survive, I'd be able to stomach settling for a rat. [ A shrug, then - ] Thankfully I'm just fine with regular fair, provided it isn't beans for at least the next few months.
