[Welcome to Bryn's apartment. The door is unlocked, and personal belongings can be tossed up onto the bed just at the top of the stairs. The party's theme is apparent at once. As mentioned on the network post, gold and glitz is strongly encouraged (though no one will be turned away for lacking either) in clothing, jewelry, accessories, or however creatively someone would like to incorporate it. Those interested in participating but lacking anything gold or glitzy will find gold glitter body gel to spread on their skin, compliments of the hostess.

There's a bar cart by the front door with a sign that reads WELCOME in gold script. It's laden with short shot glasses filled with what looks like liquid gold. When imbibed, however, it tastes like a faintly peach-flavored vodka. The rest of the alcohol and mixers can be found in the kitchen. Clear plastic cups feature labels that can be written on in gold permanent marker, then filled with any number of beverages. Really, there's no real rhyme or reason to what's available, as guests have been encouraged to bring whatever they like and add it to the kitchen island. For those who don't drink alcohol, there's a sign on the fridge indicating that non-alcoholic drinks and mixers are kept within. Anyone looking to fill their stomach a little between drinks will find platters of finger foods available throughout the apartment. Gold macarons, cheese and crackers, sliced fruit and vegetables are plentiful, but guests who are quick enough may find they can grab some of the thinly sliced beef arranged around a bowl of spicy dipping sauce. Of note, there is also a plate of gold fortune cookies for guests. While it's noted there's only enough for one per person, the fortunes feature not only a fortune but a party challenge. Dance with a stranger? Eat nothing that isn't fed to you? Try your hand at inventing a new drink? Why not try it and see what happens? Play a game of party jenga for that matter.

Beyond all this, anyone attending is encouraged to mingle and enjoy themselves. There's ample seating throughout the apartment for people to sit back and enjoy their food and drinks, including a plush rug in one corner covered in floor cushions and pillows around a hookah with a variety of flavors of tobacco. For those who are more inclined to activity there's space enough to dance to the music that booms throughout the apartment. With the windows open the space stays well aired out and comfortable, inviting any who attend to linger as long as they like. By the looks of things the hostess has no intention of kicking anyone out no matter how late it gets...]

It has been a blessing on more than one occasion. [He points out, sternly. He's been the bringer of breakfast before.]

And like that, it has been found. [He's pulled it from a drawer, and now he's standing before something that looks like a coffee machine.]

..I've seen this sort of thing before. [He assures Loki, but he's hesitating.]

[ A wispy smile appears on Loki's smile, like a cat's satisfaction. ]

Oh? Then you'll have no problem, I'm sure.

[At that, he gives Loki a pointed, dirty look before he fixates again on the machine. It looks expensive, and Thor isn't game to press a button and risk breaking it. He pushes at it idly, searching for where the coffee should be deposited, before he steps back.]

Do they sell coffee at this hour?

[ Loki pointedly rolls his eyes. ]

Bring it here, you oaf. Before you give Asgard a bad name, let's rescue you from yourself.

[Thor rolls his eyes back, and momentarily looks ready to fight, but for once he decides to concede and push the coffee into Loki's hands.

Unlike the ship, he does not know how to work this machine. He does not know if pressing it gently will help and he does not want Bryn to lose interest in him because he smashed her coffee maker.]

Had I drunk less, this would not be an issue. [We believe you.]

[ Loki takes it delicately, setting it on the table as he works the lid. He may not be extremely familiar with coffee, but Loki is adaptable in almost all things, even the area of mechanical devices. After all, they are a stone throw's away from magic in Asgard. Clicking his tongue, he easily slots the coffee in and pushes it in the right place before taking a cup and slotting it under the nozzle. ]

Drinking less is not in your nature, so I imagine the issue would persist, no matter what. You always had terrible restraint at parties.

[Now that Thor has unburdened himself from coffee-making duties, he's going to pull a chair out and make himself comfortable. He leans his elbows on the table, frowning over at Loki.] '

It has been a long time since I've drunk so much, I'll have you know. I was not nearly so drunk when Ultron came upon us, back in New York, and gladly so. [Although he did get a little rambunctious and he maybe tried to strangle Tony...]

Ultron?

[ His tone is deceptively light and curious. Loki, of course, knew all about Ultron and the fights that took place. He's not so foolish to avoid keeping tabs on Thor and any kind of hint that he might realize that Loki has usurped Odin's place.

And honestly, it was the best entertainment he had in years. Watching the Avengers scurry around fixing the problems they themselves created? Priceless. ]

Why the sudden change?

Yes. A creation of Stark's, with unintentionally murderous tendencies. A short lived problem.

[He wasn't really fucked up until Wanda meddled with his head, at least.]

I had less time for parties. Less interest. [He shrugs.] Now I've more free time than I know what to do with.

[ Thor has changed. This much, Loki knows. Thor can peer through his illusions. Trick Loki into doing his bidding. He has a healthy, albeit wary, respect for this new version of his older brother, no matter how galling the changes seem to him.

Still, this . . . this unnerves him. Like a sinking stone in his gut. Loki had warned him, but Thor would not heed them. Not now, not ever. Loki would not mind seeing his brother broken. Defeated. Ashamed. A variety of scenarios.

And yet heartbreak is not one of them. ]

You've fallen out of orbit with Asgard and keep time with mortals. Is it truly so surprising that time seems freer and longer to you?

I hardly keep time with mortals, they move at their own pace. [Thor says, with a shade of annoyance in his tone.]

I set forth for Asgard, last I recall. I had left Midgard, but time has passed for others where it has not passed for me.

[ Loki shrugs away Thor's annoyance without much fuss. ]

Considering my time has permanently stopped, I am, as they say, out of the "loop".

I suppose it is poor form for me to complain about such things. [He forgets Loki is dead, sometimes. He remembers most frequently when he thinks about needing to return home, and wondering if he could bring himself to do so without his brother.

Now isn't a great time to think about that, however.]

Fortunately, you've missed nothing but nonsense.

[ Loki shakes his head. The deception sinks icy fingers in his spine. He ignores it before grabbing a cup of coffee for himself and turning to Thor with a mocking grin. ]

Well, don't leave me in suspense.

It will be difficult to explain without coffee. [He says, pointedly, but he'll try anyway.]

As far as I know, the Avengers have divided among themselves. They went so far as to fight one another, in the name of the law. [He shrugs.] It seems Midgard has lost their trust for us. Not all too surprising, given all that has occurred.

[ With a sigh, Loki hands his mug over to Thor. He had heard whispers of what took place, but nothing to give him a concrete picture. Besides, Thor was not involved and that limits his interest in hearing the Avengers beat each other up.

Well. A little. ]

Mortals do have fascinating ideas of freedom. And men as powerful as the Avengers seem to think their ideals hold supreme over others.

[ It's such a Loki thing to do, though. You would think the Avengers had a bit more self-awareness. ]

Stark was for control, Steve was for rebellion. But that so many of them would not bend to the idea of a little control makes me wonder if the source of control could be trusted.

[It doesn't make sense to him, that he'd align with Stark at a time like this. Steve would surely have his reasons to rebel against a reform, Thor hopes it doesn't all boil down to the Bucky he's heard so much about. Then again, there a few people he'd kick up such a fuss for, as well.]

I wonder if they will enforce such a thing here.

[ Loki snorts lightly. ]

I would like to see them try. So long as I have a seat to such madness. I'm only surprised it took them so long. They compromise for their enemies, after all.

[ Even with what paltry knowledge Loki had, it was easy to drive the wedge. Loki united them by his existence and he learned that lesson well. ]

It is a peculiar place. [Thor notes.]

We live peacefully, for such circumstances. Perhaps it is my age speaking, but I cannot help but wonder when it will change.

[ Curious. Loki eyes Thor even as he takes a sip of his own coffee. The look isn't suspicious or observant, mostly thoughtful. ]

What do you think it will change into?

I have no reason to believe it will change into anything, specifically. [He shrugs and sips his coffee. He's tired and drunk, okay.]

It seems a vulnerable place, however. They have no control over what comes here, it may not be long before they bring in something they cannot subdue with generosity.

[ Like Loki, for example. He doesn't respond with that, however. ]

It's not like you to be so concerned for the bigger picture. Why not focus for what lies in front?

Yes, I suppose you're right. [Thor says, but he's not so sure. He turns his focus back to his coffee, contemplative.]

I hardly know what lies a day ahead.

[ Loki hums, finally peeling his attention away. ]

Is that not better? You will manage as you always have.

[ With that, he raises his mug in salute before wandering off. He's had his fill. ]
