[Welcome to Bryn's apartment. The door is unlocked, and personal belongings can be tossed up onto the bed just at the top of the stairs. The party's theme is apparent at once. As mentioned on the network post, gold and glitz is strongly encouraged (though no one will be turned away for lacking either) in clothing, jewelry, accessories, or however creatively someone would like to incorporate it. Those interested in participating but lacking anything gold or glitzy will find gold glitter body gel to spread on their skin, compliments of the hostess. There's a bar cart by the front door with a sign that reads WELCOME in gold script. It's laden with short shot glasses filled with what looks like liquid gold. When imbibed, however, it tastes like a faintly peach-flavored vodka. The rest of the alcohol and mixers can be found in the kitchen. Clear plastic cups feature labels that can be written on in gold permanent marker, then filled with any number of beverages. Really, there's no real rhyme or reason to what's available, as guests have been encouraged to bring whatever they like and add it to the kitchen island. For those who don't drink alcohol, there's a sign on the fridge indicating that non-alcoholic drinks and mixers are kept within. Anyone looking to fill their stomach a little between drinks will find platters of finger foods available throughout the apartment. Gold macarons, cheese and crackers, sliced fruit and vegetables are plentiful, but guests who are quick enough may find they can grab some of the thinly sliced beef arranged around a bowl of spicy dipping sauce. Of note, there is also a plate of gold fortune cookies for guests. While it's noted there's only enough for one per person, the fortunes feature not only a fortune but a party challenge. Dance with a stranger? Eat nothing that isn't fed to you? Try your hand at inventing a new drink? Why not try it and see what happens? Play a game of party jenga for that matter. Beyond all this, anyone attending is encouraged to mingle and enjoy themselves. There's ample seating throughout the apartment for people to sit back and enjoy their food and drinks, including a plush rug in one corner covered in floor cushions and pillows around a hookah with a variety of flavors of tobacco. For those who are more inclined to activity there's space enough to dance to the music that booms throughout the apartment. With the windows open the space stays well aired out and comfortable, inviting any who attend to linger as long as they like. By the looks of things the hostess has no intention of kicking anyone out no matter how late it gets...] |

"I think we'll always have some trouble with our schedules, but we can at least try to get the same days off." Not that his job as a surveyor kept very strict shifts, not as strict as the ones Bones had at the hospital. And understandably so. It would be easier for Jim to just mold his own schedule around the doctor's, so they'd have the time to find a place.
Shifting comfortably, he settled close against the doctor, sighing as he closed his eyes again. "Never really went house hunting. Should be fun. Any kind of place in particular you'd rather look for?"

"Sounds plausible. You know, if we could afford it, I think I'd rather a small house." Not huge. Just enough for the two of them and it gave them some peace. No worrying over little things like disturbing the neighbors and such nonsense. Or the typical worries like if your neighbor leaves the stove on. He wasn't sure that Riverview was as automated as much of the flats and apartments back home where things like that could be remembered by computers. And of course, he's likely the only person out of thousands that even worried about such things anyway.
Hugging Jim close for a moment, he finally let one hand go back up to play with his hair as his eyes fell closed. He loved that feeling of Jim's hair sliding through his fingers and how the thud of his heart against his chest was like the best sedative he could ever ask for. "Just something nice and private. Small... if it's far out enough windows. I like windows." He wasn't necessarily the most picky man in the world. Not really. "Possibly a nice kitchen cause I like cooking for you."

"Mm, me too. A nice little place, with a garden maybe." Not that Jim knew the first thing about gardening. Then again all this was fairly new to him. Not just living with someone else, but the whole... settled and domestic vibe to it. This was the kind of thing that would've normally either bored him or scared him, a step he definitely had never imagined himself taking, much less so looking forward to it.
But he did look forward to it. There was a low happy thrum of excitement at the pit of his stomach, making him smile warmer and softer, his arm curling tighter around Bones briefly. "Windows, then. With a nice view. And a really nice kitchen, too."

Honestly, he'd thought he'd sworn off this kinda thing since Joce. He hated the idea of getting himself so attached to anyone. And now here he was. Quite honestly he couldn't imagine his life in the least without Jim. Hell, now that he knew what it was like to live with the man, he knew he'd be a mess if that changed.
"Sounds damn near perfect." God, he knew he was head over heels in love with Jim.

Okay, so maybe he said that only to tease Bones, but the mental image was oddly sweet and domestic. Exactly the kind of thing Jim had never cared about before, and yet... well, here he was. Guess there was plenty for him to learn about himself in all this, too.
"It does," he nodded softly, letting his head rest comfortably on Bones's shoulder. They should probably move to one of those quiet corners Bryn had set up before Jim fell asleep, but for just a little while longer, he didn't want to move. "Can hardly wait."

Granted he remembered enough times his father yelled just that when he'd get hot back in Georgia during the summer and just pull his shirt off to keep working. His dad always managed the most long winded and persistent talkin' tos he'd ever heard. Guess Jim got a little flavor of what that was like through him.
"Me neither." The doctor couldn't help but smile at that, a warm rush fluttering in his chest. Still... "You're tired." His voice got soft, like smooth velvet as he kissed just by his ear. It wasn't a question. Just a true statement as he wrapped the other man up close and let one hand tangle up in dark gold hair. "You know I've got you if you want to sleep..."

Probably a straw one, just to poke a bit of fun at Bones. Not that Jim could talk, really. Even though he'd hated growing up in Iowa, he had still done a few things around the farm, if nothing else then just to pass the time. He usually stuck to jeans and a plaid shirt or a tee, though. Not ridiculous overalls.
"I might just do that, then... if you don't mind," Jim hummed a little lazily, arm draped around Bones's waist, hand tucked around his side. "You're very comfortable."
no subject
Turning his head a little to press close to Jim's, he let out a soft sigh. "Go ahead." He pushed him gently, wanting Jim to just relax finally. "I'll take that as a compliment, darlin'. Get some sleep. Not goin' anywhere." Pressing a kiss to the top of Jim's head, he couldn't help the smile as he sank into the cushions getting comfortable. And well, Jim felt surprisingly comfortable in his arms as well.
