i — death from above
[ Genji had done his fair share of battling Omnics that took to the air before, but this was a bit ridiculous. It was almost like something out of a movie except it was very real and very much of a concern, and very much not something to be particularly amazed or awed about.

He takes the Perimeter Guard detail gladly and carries around a few extra umbrellas strapped to his back to hand out to those who need it. And any beast that tries to make a meal out of a citizen will be met with a swift strike indeed. If you're in the Perimeter Guard, feel free to chat him up about it, or if you need a cyborg ninja dude to help you out he will be there. ]

ii — homesick bazaar
[ Now Genji doesn't eat that much but he still indulges. Not eating was, honestly, incredibly dull. So when this bazaar shows up he figures he might as well peruse and see what's available, maybe bring something back to share. His helmet filters the air so he's left it behind for once; his tongue is entirely synthetic now and the artificial taste buds leave something to be desired, so his sense of smell is really all he has going for him in that department.

But it's that sense that makes him pause abruptly as a certain scent hits his nose, causing waves of nostalgia to roll over him. It's like he's there again, a young man, waiting impatiently in a line for a bowl of ramen. He whirls around and sees a familiar noodle eating alien creature at one of the stalls and—

Genji can't help a little laugh, putting his hand to his forehead and shaking his head. This ridiculous place, making him remember all of these things. He should go find his brother, he would hopefully get a kick out of this.

But first. He approaches the booth and anybody who is standing near it, or in line. ] I can vouch that this is quite good.

iii — where in the world is genji shimada?
[ It has been established that Genji likes to meditate, and he's needed to meditate quite a lot since coming here. He's found he enjoys the side of the river, so if you're walking on by you may come across him. Most people seem to think he's some kind of statue or sedentary robot at first glance, which is quite amusing. But he's started to leave the helmet at home, so that mistake is probably harder to make now.

[2B sounds curious. So Genji is closer to her than many others, at least physically. But he's still a human still. Well, probably.]

I'm not used to humans performing on this level without some sort of enhancement. I wanted to know what was yours.

[ Genji nods to that. ] That is understandable. Even where I am from, people with cybernetic enhancements are rare.

[ His newfound companion here doesn't look quite like any cyborgs he has seen before, but he isn't going to start judging books by their cover at this point. ] Are you a cyborg then too?

No. A cyborg is a term used to describe a biological human enhanced with technology.

[At least that's what she gets from context. 2B folds her arms, weight shifting to one foot.]

I'm an artificial, mechanical being. YoRHa android number 2, type B. "2B" is sufficient.

[ Genji gives another nod at that. Not entirely different from Omnics, really, she just looks more humanoid. Genji bows his head to her. ] I am Genji Shimada. It is a pleasure to meet you, 2B.

[She nods in a small greeting.]

Genji Shimada, hello.

[She's still on a mission, so 2B interrupts the smalltalk to briefly look around. It seems like no aerial hostiles are in visible range though, so she adds...]

You don't seem surprised. As far as I know, androids are basically unknown for most residents.

[ Genji looks around as well, keeping his ears pealed for any indication some more beasts would be swooping in. Not yet, anyway, so he continues the conversation as well: ] Ah, no, I am not. In the world I am from, there are sentient mechanical beings called Omnics.

[ He doesn't want to think of what it would be like if Omnics were indiscernible from humans however... Things were hard enough for Omnics as it is. ]

I have heard this term once before.

Ah, so you must be from the same world as the one known as "Reaper".

[She sounds slightly amused, saying that name out loud. It feels like someone is trying too hard to be intimidating.]

I also heard the relation between Omnics and humans is... complicated.

[ Genji's body language instantly changes at the mention of Reaper. His shoulders go rigid and his hands clench into fists at his side. He curses himself for being so painfully obvious, he was an expert at stealth for a reason, but he still was far too... mixed up inside, about his former Commander.

His tone is carefully even when he speaks. ] Yes, it is. But we do what we can to try to mend relations.

[ Two steps forward, ten steps back after Mondatta was murdered however... ]

[That reaction does not escape her. Any hint of amusement immediately disappears from 2B's demeanour.]

I hope you succeed, then.

[She doesn't comment on the matter any further, her voice sounding just as careful. Some matters shouldn't be mentioned so recklessly.]

I only need to inform you that regardless of how it may be for others, I only have the desire to help and protect humans. It is my duty, and the same applies to other androids who come from the same world as I do.

[That was more than a little awkward.]

[ Genji's shoulders loosen slightly, realizing how that might have seemed. He shakes his head slightly. ] No, I apologize. I have no ill regard for Omnics or androids. I just— [ He debates how to say it, or what to say. ] —have a history with the 'Reaper' you mentioned. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable.

You didn't. No need to apologize.

[Not entirely a true statement but it's not important right now.]

Since he's here, does it mean he is a potential threat? To the Quarantine, or its inhabitants?

[ Now that's a loaded question. ] In the world we are from, he is a dangerous terrorist. He claimed to not have any intention to hurt people here but there is no way I can trust him. We will have to keep an eye on his actions.

[ He knows what Commander Reyes was capable of and now that he literally has nothing left to lose... ]

[This sheds new light on their earlier interaction. She wonders what exactly is Reaper planning to do while around here.]

Should he try anything suspicious, that would put his claims in doubt, I will report it to authorities.

In the meantime there is nothing to be done.

[No, that's wrong. She reaches out for her weapon, making sure it is not secured too tightly.]
