i was gonna do song lyrics
who: Finn + VARIOUS (p. much open)
what: When the portal's a-rockin', it's time to go a-knockin'. aka goodbyes!
when: nebulously stretching over this first week of December? heck, maybe he blasts these all out on the day of, idk.
where: miscellaneous!
warnings: n/a yet, will add as needed
[ Well!
It is that time.
Like, it's hard to not hear the news when the news is "yeah we figured out the Portal, actually, so you can go if that's what you've been waiting on."
Finn can't say if want is the right word, exactly, as much as going home is a need. Maybe a while back he'd have had a harder time of it (he tries not to think about it too much, because it's hard to imagine this being any harder, really). But that's life. Can't put off a war he'd only just made his own choice about being in. Can't let a whole galaxy get steamrolled when he knows he can do something to help.
A lot's happened in the past year, but he definitely still can't look the other way when something he can do to help is right in front of him.
So he steels himself. It takes a lot of steeling. He had a life before he got here, sort of, but not a life. Not like this. Work and friends and things sitting still every now and again. All the stability and routine he doesn't know how to work without, but a routine he got to choose, learned to carve out for himself.
It takes. A lot of steeling. And given the gift of being able to choose when he leaves, a stark contrast to the way he didn't get to choose to come here, he starts working to get his affairs put in order. And beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most important aspect of leaving is getting to say goodbye. Possessions, schmossessions. There are still a good handful of people he knows left in the Quarantine that he wouldn't cut and run on if his life depended on it.
He'll probably never see them again.
It could be a text or a call. A convenient crossing of paths out in the city somewhere. Whatever works. Finn almost systematically gets the word out to his friends that the time has indeed come for him to ship out, and he'd like to see them again before that. And while he's at it, if he does cross paths with anyone that might be more friendly acquaintance than friend, he'll probably want to thank them for like, that one time they gave him a piece of gum or something? Finn is a collector of kindnesses. These are not things he forgets.
(So exactly what it says on the tin! Any CR of Finn's is welcome for some good old fashioned goodbye threads, which I'll backtag probably forever. If you'd like a specific starter put up for your character, feel free to PM me or hit me up at
comatoseroses and I'll get to work on that! It's been a really, really wonderful year of RP here. (: ]

Hey, Finn.
[He gave him a quick wave.]
