In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire month. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.

i. gift fountain

While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the month, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the month.

Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.

This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming post on the meme community. Any newly apped character is welcome to post on the meme entry as soon as they're accepted, and will be linked to it in this month's acceptance notification, so to all you pre-existing players please keep looking at the Prijata Pregame meme throughout app week and afterward to help give new arrivals a warm friendly welcome!

ii. speed-friending

This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!

For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!

iii. club exhibition

Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a month-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.

And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.

iv. amusement park & waterfight

Remember the Amusement Park that citizens of the city were working together to clean up and power up a couple of months ago? Well, the endeavor has proven to be a success, and after a lot of hard work and technical expertise, the amusement park is up and running! For the first two weeks of June, admission will be free to honor those who helped make the park usable.

Sporting just about any amusement park ride you can think of, from kiddie rides, merry-go-rounds, and ferris wheels to high-speed roller coasters and more extreme rides for the thrill-seekers, the park takes it a step further by adding in a lot of different high-tech attractions not available at conventional amusement parks. It has banks and banks of VR simulators that allow park-goers to enjoy a variety of adventures and scenarios, or join shared mutual worlds with other users to explore or take out their aggression with a VR first-person shooter. There are also rows and rows of typical carnival games, some heavily rigged and some not, with prizes ranging from dollar store trinkets to stuffed animals to bits of advanced tech.

For the month of grand opening, though, the amusement park is offering a couple interesting events - a naming contest for the park, and a park-wide water fight.

The water fight is opt-in, with participants signing up and being given a purple or orange flag, tank top, or cap to wear marking them as to which team they're part of. There are buckets of water balloons around the park that are constantly being refilled by staff, and water fighters can participate in special target practice games to win the use of a watergun for the duration of the day - how big your watergun is depends on how well you do in the game! Ultimately, there aren't any real winners or losers, because the point is to get wet in the brand new summer heat, but it's always more fun to cool off with a bit of competition involved, right?

The naming contest is another story. Anyone who visits the park is welcome to think up a name for the park, and all entries will be listed on a large LED board. Every customer who enters the park is invited to vote for their favorite name, and the name with the most votes wins! To submit either an in-character suggestion or a suggestion from yourself as a player, hit up the thread below with a new top-level; whether or not you have a neat idea, place a vote for your favorite! Votes are one per player; suggestions are one per character.

[ Birds are pretty and he has a book Clary gave him listing all the known birds by scientific and common name, which he's memorized already. But hiking is more his thing so he's here considering joining a club. Really, Jace? It's such a Mundane thing to do and Simon would find it hilarious. He'd also encourage him to join.

Alec, he imagined, would encourage him to join, too. Socialize! Make new friends.
He doesn't really want knew friends. He wants his old friend. His parabatai. His brother. His now married and living with his husband several floors away friend.

Apparently he isn't the only one struggling with the "joining a club will be good for" dilemma.]

Did a friend suggest you should join a club?

I think there's shady establishments on every planet. Someone always want to make a profit.

[It doesn't really bother him. He's seen the best and worst of people in New York, so he assumes that the same occurs here.]

But that doesn't mean that all the games are rigged. There's ones that seem to have customers winning regularly.

[Studying the next customer's shots, Alec grimaces at the target.]

Someone could probably beat whatever's altering the third shot if they knew to compensate for it.

[ Jace is no stranger to high places, falling, climbing, fighting. It's his life training. So he may be a little cocky when he answers from a feet to the side, arms crossed, looking down at the park. ]

You call this a challenge?

[ Wally shakes his head a little in response to the compliment the other man tossed his way. Despite his tendency to showboat, he has never really thought of himself as being brave or worthy of such awe. At least not like his mentor Barry Allen. ]

I wouldn't say that I'm brave. I just like to help people. The paycheck is a nice little bonus, though.

[ It was his Aunt Iris that instilled the desire to help people in him long before his career as a costumed hero started. ]

I'm a little faster than a car. [ A lot faster if he's being honest. ] But what about you? You said you run a lot?

She nearly jumped at the recognition, but to hear her voice and able to place a name to the voice. That she hadn't been in contact with her was her own fault; interaction with others besides family and those close was as much as she could usually deal with.

"Hunting accident with Ivar..a creature that was like a feathered lizard and spat venon. The venom made me blind." A hand reached for the orange gold sunglasses at her collar; she usually had them on, but for some reason or another, she'd set them aside. "Don't..don't talk about it with Ivar, he still feels guilty about it."

The two of them were friends, she knew that much by now. The last thing she wanted was for him to feel even worse then he did now.

Carefully, she groped for and found a seat from the table, taking it for herself. "What does your paper say?"

[ Chyler gives him a slow once-over, disapproval Writ Large Across Her Features. A phrase I've never had the chance to use that is exactly as awkward and pretentious I expected it to be.

Basically she's not impressed. Which has earned her many friends so far.

Chyler hates most of these kids on principle, and she can't help thinking of them that way. Kids. Children. People without discipline, without a cause, and probably without any desire to find one. ]

If I find a reason to be happy, I will be. [ Even more stoic than usual? Even more stoic than usual. ]

[ His gaze falls a little at that, feeling an uncomfortable tightness in his chest. ]

I wouldn't want to leave you, either.

[ And yet, it's... complicated. Staying here would mean abandoning his crew, and it's not something he ever considered before, not even when he was with Bones. But knowing that leaving would mean never seeing Victor again is more painful than he can imagine.

And he can't help the feeling of guilt either. How easily Victor says that he won't leave for as long as he and Lucy are around, while that decision is still a struggle for him. ]

[It's a fair question. Thor is not one to encourage just wandering off with strangers.] A fair point. We'll not need to go so far. Have you a guardian I could introduce myself to?

[Hearing that Wanda had worse isn't a surprise, not with some of the people that she knows here, but it still makes her frown on Wanda's behalf. For all of the reasons that Alex wanted to get home, she understood why people might want to be here, when their own homeworlds were well terrible for them. So, she just gives a little nod of understanding before she picks up the balls from the smug looking barker.

Let's be real, they're all smug looking when someone comes in to play.

So, she takes a deep breath and rolls the ball between her fingers for a moment before she draws back and beans it at the cans, holding her breath as she does it. She's watching intently, and she sees the red, but doesn't say anything as the ball connects solidly and then the cans fall down, making Alex cheer.]

Probably not. Too bad we as a group couldn't just sit down and be like "that's it, we demand a time out of this stuff, okay?" It'd be great if we could.

( he's alone -- again; that's an irrelevant conversation and not a subject damian feels like bothering with. )

I don't. ( but whatever, he'll lead thor off in the general direction of the jungle. )

[ Oh girl, don't you know that Chase thrives on disapproval? It's like sustenance to him. His smirk remains, as he's totally undeterred. ]

Aw... You're never gonna make any friends with that attitude. So, come on, come on! [ He snaps his fingers a few times in quick succession. ] Let's get this speed friending started! Tell me what does make you happy.

Hehehe, I love my mom for raising me too!

[ Matsuyo is a force of nature who kinda spoiled him and his brothers far too much... oh, he misses her. ]

I wanna give something in return for your kindness, miss! Anything you want!

[ Chyler glances up at Elizabeth, her instinct to come to attention. This is John's Elizabeth. This is Elizabeth Weir, civilian commander of the Atlantis expedition.

Somehow, even though Chyler straightens up, there's something in Elizabeth's reply that doesn't demand that kind of formality. It fits with their talk before. That doesn't make it less strange. It's like John--she has the same demeanor as John. They don't need the trappings of respect. They have it, or they'll take it, and Chyler has seen John make people regret it when he has to take it.

She clasps her hands at the small of her back, a compromise between Elizabeth's preferences and Chyler's own comfort. Not quite rest. ]

It's beautiful. [ She looks back at the model. ] I knew it would be.

[That is perhaps more concerning, minors being brought here without adult guardians. Hm.

Thor doesn't follow, instead picking Mjolnir up from the ground.] You haven't a fear of heights, Damian Wayne?

[ Oh, that tracks. Support and counseling. Finn can't say he knows much about the counselors except that they seem a lot chiller than psytechs. Which also tracks. ]

Right. Must be keeping you pretty busy lately. [ Between like. Actually, now that he thinks about it, it's been a wild lineup the past few months. There was the "clear the air" thing that made everyone think about their problems all the time. The flooding. Memoria. The nanite virus. He absolutely must have been kept busy lately. ]

I'm Finn. RR-1 unit. [ After a beat, he turns enough to offer a hand. ]

I'm not afraid of anything.

( especially not heights. he's spent numerous years jumping straight out of helicopters, off of buildings. but the question itself has him turning in to thor, watching him with a careful eye. )

Don't tell me you fly.

[Okay, about half-way through what he's saying, Alex has decided that she likes him a fair amount, and that he reminds her of Nic, so she's just going to laugh softly and nod with a grin.]

It's okay. [And it was, because Alex was someone who could often ramble as well.] I'd offer but I'm a running monogamist as well, and I've already got a partner I run and [have a huffy little sigh because Alex is still not liking this yet, but Strand's gotta Strand.] do rowing with.

Then I'll not tell you. [He hefts the hammer in his hand, holding it by the leather strap and beginning to spin her slowly.]

Come, then. Hold my hand or climb on my back. Take care you've a good hold.

Yeah, of course! I know it's probably not something that you've done before, but I thought maybe you'd like the experience of it. It's fun once you get used to it, I promise. It's a spa day where you just get sort of pampered. I figured I could go along with you unless you'd prefer someone else to!

[Alex clearly wouldn't be offended in the slightest if that was what was what Rey wanted to do. It was a gift of course, and she just waves her hand at the mention of not knowing.]

It's okay, really. I'm sure I'll see you again to get it!

It does, though I've only been here for a few days.

But enough about me. You mentioned you were also interested in politics. What does that look like for you?

[The people running the speed friending event had supplied them with snacks, and Allura now finally took a sip from the glass of cola in front of her. She was still listening to Padmé, but she had to stop for a moment to peer at the glass and wonder just what this drink WAS. Humans sure had some strange foods.]

No.

( he's not taking this trip up into the sky thank you. it's one thing to be carried by one of the kents, even if he's still not that fond of it. it's another to take a trip with an unfamiliar possible-god without his kit full of helpful landing gear.

so damian crosses his arms over his chest instead. tilts his chin up. )

Sounds like you really are fast!

[ That's still impressive on its own - Jyushimatsu beams at him and curls his sleeves over his chest, fists pumping. Cars are already fast, but if you're faster than a car itself then... wow! ]

Yeah! I run and swim and climb and also jump off tall places sometimes! I love doing physical stuff in general, but running is always the top choice!

"I would use the same to describe China. The mountains, especially, they are barren and can be treacherous, but to look at them in the dawn is to truly look in another world."

She suddenly smiled, wondering why she harped in such a poetic manner-not something she was wont to do. "My sisters and I have traveled and spent some months to the Hunan province there, so my memories are slightly nostalgic."

To his other question, Elizabeth shook her head.. "The army, but that was some years ago, and a conscription. He left the Service once his term was over."

Her father had been a young man when the Plague first broke out, and all gentlemen were required to spend some years in his majesty's army.

[The spining slows and Thor looks almost suprised.]

No harm will come to you, Damian Wayne. I swear it.

[If he refuses again, Thor won't push. He'd been a bully, when he was younger. He'll not be one again.]
