Richard's frown deepened as he pulled his hand away, both now sitting between his legs and clasped together. The question wasn't something he wanted to admit to, or even think about. It was something he had pushed so deeply into the back of his mind that he'd almost forgotten he'd thought of it, but her asking brought it to the forefront again.

"Once," He answered honestly. He couldn't lie to her, or even evade the question. Well, the truth was that he could, but he wouldn't. If he did the question would be sure to show up again, it would pick at her until she couldn't stand it anymore; just like all the secrets that were between them over the past two years. This was something that he really couldn't lie to Alex about, not without ruining everything they had and possibly losing her forever.
