This is a shitty way to celebrate spring, isn't it?
who: Lup & CR
what: Sickness stuff, eventual coma
when: start of event to mid-may
where: Casa del Taaco
warnings: Sickness things
She's exhausted. No matter how much she's sleeping, she's exhausted and muscles sore from the fever raging in her. Even more so every time she coughs, rasping and deep in her chest. It sucked to be sick, and everything she had heard so far told her that it was a really fucked-up epidemic, too. It was honestly worrying, which was why she barred her brother from entering the room without protection. Krav couldn't get sick, Taako had promised, and Barry... well, that had been a lost cause from the beginning.
It weird, too. Along the shitty flu-turning-to-pneumonia issue, she has weird green spots, too. Who decided that was a great new magical symptom? Couldn't they at least have been her color rather than green? In addition to that, he room was lit up despite the fact that she was mostly sleeping, because another weird symptom was loss of her darkvision - and that freaked her out. Darkness made her feel trapped. Alone. Stuck in her staff again.
Not something she needed right now.
Sighing, Lup closes her eyes for a moment, not quite sleeping but instead analyzing how much energy it would take to drag another blanket her way. She was shivering again, despite how sweaty she felt.
"Mmm... hey? Anyone out there?"

"Mmm... hey? Anyone out there?"

i. barry nursejeans!
Instead, every tiny thing she could need is given to her. Any possible comfort she could want. And even a few she probably didn't want. Because he's gonna worry like that, isn't he?
Despite himself, he has been keeping outside the room as much as possible. Partially because he still has a job to do. Good thing he was still in catch-up and mastery mode and his bosses seemed to be cool with that. They must get it a lot.
Anyway, he is soon to peak his head into the doorway.
"What's up, beautiful?"

"Mmm... hi babe," she croaks and then covers her face to cough before reappearing again. Lup's voice is rough and raspy, almost all the way down to Merle levels, and her face is flushed from the fever. "Do we have more blankets... or did I steal them all already?"
Despite the mess she is, she's still smiling softly at Barry. Damn, she was so lucky to have him here with her - even if he was definitely gonna get sick after this.
no subject
"Nope. You got 'em all," he smiles despite himself because hello. It's Lup. How can you not smile at Lup. Even when she looks so miserable. He reaches for her bowl of water and washcloth, a hand touching it quickly to ice it up just a little. Just to make it cool. Now he can ring it out and place it on her forehead to help with that fever. Or the inevitable headache that came with it.
"Taako's cookin' somethin' for ya. Not sure what it is but he told me it's the Elf version of chicken noodle soup."
Which might just be chicken noodle soup with a Taako Touch but whatever if it helped Lup.

It's soothing, and Lup sinks further into her pillows with a content sigh.
"Thank you, babe. How are you feeling? Taako?" From the little she had managed to hear from her bed, it all sounded like a shitty epidemic. A normal flu, she could deal with. Magic nanites? Fucked up.

He's gonna keep pressing a cold cloth to her forehead.
"Can't figure out why we aren't, either. We should both be sick by now if you are."
no subject
Then she remembers what Taako had said about Kravitz and smiles at Barry. "Hey, babe? If you're a reaper, can you do that skeleton thing, too?"
She might be a little loopy (pun intended), but she does have a point with that random question. Her brother said it was unlikely that bone boss was gonna get ill since he was just mostly illusion and a front rather than a real body. That could explain Barry.
Taako, on the other hand? Well, she had banned him from her room.

"Pretty cool trick huh?"
The smoke comes and goes and he's back to Barry again.

About to say something else, she starts coughing instead. Making a disgusted face, she turns away a bit so she doesn't cough on him, but she's weak as a kitten and only barely manages.
It hurts, and the jolt to her body isn't exactly great, either. She groans and just... stays in the small heap she's now in, wanting to just crawl into a pocket dimension.
no subject
"Aw me too," he tries to at least keep her laughing. "You hackin up a lung? Sexy."
no subject
"Did we find a new horrible kink?" Lup asks, trying to give him a wink but just ending up closing her eyes instead with a sigh.
"...tell me about our future, Barry. I think I need a good story."
no subject
"Let's see..." Where do you begin. He guesses he hasn't really told her all the ins and outs of their day to day. Just that they're happy and together and everyone is doing great.
"Me and you and the Bossman work together pretty much every day. He's usually off reaping people, me and you are kinda like necromancer cops. You're basically best friends with The Raven Queen. She loves you."
He can't wait to see those two interact again. See them paint nails and giggle while The Queen still looks creepy as shit. It's a great sight.
"We see each other every year for Candlenights. We make a point of it. Family, y'know?"
no subject
It isn't really anything she has not heard before or guessed, but it feels nice to hear it. That, and she loves his voice so much. It was soothing when she was feeling like shit.
"All of us?" She croaks as he mentions Candlenights. Did that mean Lucretia, too? She really hoped so.
"...and I can see Koko when I want to, right?"
no subject
One day someone is going to point out to him he refers to Kravitz exclusively as 'bossman' and he's gonna blush.
As for everyone... "We're... warmin' back up to Lucretia. Slowly. It's harder for some of us to see her." He wishes he could say he was included in that. It hurt, what she did. Taking his family away from him when it meant so much. But she was family too and he loves her deeply. Always will.
no subject
"I think Koko's mad that I forgave her so quick." She says, and it's difficult to tell of she's fully aware she's even saying it. It was hard to think with a fever this high, and shit just ended up falling out of her mouth.
no subject
"Taako's a salty son of a bitch," he says with a kind of shrug. He's gonna be. Because that's just his nature.
no subject
"He's got all the right to be. She ruined him. I ruined him, too."
Apparently this is feverish angst hour right now, courtesy of a fried brain.

(There had been no other way, she knows this. That isn't fully in her head at the moment, though.)
"Luce would never had separated us, then. Taako and me, or me and you."

It isn't until her breathing evens a bit and the exhaustion wins that her grip loosens. Finally asleep, she probably won't remember any of this later.
