who: bryn zethir, taako taaco, loki, thor odinson, kára styrdóttir what: bryn returns to riverview when: this week where: taako's house, bryn and thor's house warnings: will updated as needed
[Although all evidence is pointing to an obvious conclusion, Thor still seems perplexed. He watches Bryn carefully, almost suspiciously, he doesn't move a muscle when she settles in beside him until he can feel her forehead against him.
Then he lets himself breathe, starting with a long exhale of air as if he thinks it will ground him. He leans his forehead back against hers, shutting his eye for a second before he opens them back up again and focuses on hers.]
Yes.
[He answers, softly. Hand moving to cup her cheek, he shifts so he can press their lips together.]
[She's been missing Thor for eight long months, and it means the world to her now to be there lying beside him again. He's there and alive, and awake, and he sees her and knows that she's there. This may not be how she imagined them coming together again but when his lips find hers she really doesn't give a blighted damn.
Bryn indulges herself, kissing him for the first time since she came back, slow and lingering, savoring the familiarity of it. She only breaks it because there is so much she wants to say. Eight months of thoughts and feelings all leading up to this point.]
I've been so worried--that I couldn't get back, and then when I did that you wouldn't wake up...
[Thor isn't sure when, but somewhere in between those eight months, he had given up hope of Bryn returning. There was a desire for her return on both parts, but no certainty. As Thor watched people come and go, some more than once, he slowly removed himself from the idea that Bryn would ever return.
Despite knowing that Bryn might never come back, Thor never really moved on. Interesting that he should awake to find her, given that he feels like he's been asleep without her.
He traces his fingers over the side of her face when she talks, needing to assure himself that she absolutely is.]
[She envies the fact that it's been a shorter period of time for Thor than it has been for her. Looking at him now, taking him in and all of the ways he's still the same Thor she remembers, it feels like she's reaffirming her memories of him. Yes, he really was as handsome as she remembered, yes, he really was that much taller than her, and yes, she fit against him perfectly. Just so.
Leaning into the touch of his hand, she turns her head slightly to briefly kiss the edges of his fingers.]
Not quite. It's only been...three months here? [Give or take.] It was just over eight for me back home. I had everything settled a few months in but it felt like ages when week after week passed without being picked up by the portal again...
[She never lost hope, but it was an uphill battle keeping it, dragging around her heavy go-bag with her everywhere on the off chance that she would find herself pulled away unexpectedly. Never once did she mourn her relationship...but there were times she despaired that it would be too late by the time she returned.]
It felt longer. [Thor says, brusquely, but his expression doesn’t waver from happiness. He watches her kiss his fingers, something intense in his stare. Something particular on his mind that he’s been thinking about for a while.
But he refrains from it, moving instead to sit up a little more. Although he’s loathe to move away from her, he needs to steady himself some more.]
Yes- [She reminds him that she didn’t just vanish into thin air. She left with purpose, he knew that.] You have to tell me everything that happened.
[She understands. It felt longer. It felt like an eternity. She nods in acknowledgment, giving his had a squeeze with her own before letting go.
Bryn shifts when he starts to move, letting him sit up as he likes. She stays close, but doesn't curl up against him this time. He seems okay to talk for a bit and if he has questions, well, she can answer them.]
There's a lot that happened but I can give you the highlights. [Her legs cross in front of her as she faces him, just...so glad to see him. So happy to see him awake and seemingly well.] I made it back to Askoupur in one piece despite how I left in Rhevidjan. It took a little more side-stepping than expected but...I didn't lose so much time that I got home late. I found my father while he was on his job, but before everything went blighted mad and got him killed.
[Not without some set-backs, of course...]
Of course it means I have a few new interesting scars as a result.
[Thor is seemingly well. A little restless from being still so long, which is why he shifts, but oddly he still feels a little tired.
Maybe because he still feels a little hazy and this still feels like a dream. He watches Bryn with a soft, fond expression. His mouth is curled into an easy smile, hand lingering on her neck and shoulder.]
I'm glad to hear you saved him. [If she had to go back and return without achieving her primary goal, they'd both be shattered.]
Oh? [Thor's brow raises, eye raking over her.] Show me?
[Bryn leans in a little into his touch, glad to feel the weight of his hand on her once more, to feel skin against skin, to see him smiling at her like that. She nods in acknowledgement of what he's said, glad that she was able to save her father as well, and..not forgetting that Thor lost his own only a matter of months ago.
As for the scars, well...
Bryn twists on her seat so that her back is to him now. She lifts the back of her shirt from the shoulder, and the rising hem shows a scar that is mostly flat, and more brown than pink at this point. It's four inches long, not jagged for what little it's worth.]
Someone managed to slash there in the middle of the fight. I had to leave myself open to protect my father so... [So that's the first.] It's the worst one, at least?
[She would have been able to heal it herself if she'd been here with her powers. Back home she'd been without them once more. Mortal, relying only on her training.]
[When Bryn turns to show him the scar, Thor lets out an impressed hum. He feels a sting of anger for whoever harmed her, but he’s proud because he knows she fended them off.
His hand reaches out to run over the length of the scar and it makes something in him ache. It’s a needy little feeling he’s been ignoring in lieu of enjoying her company, but on the off chance she disappears again tomorrow he knows he’ll regret not acting on it. His hand traces back and forth and he leans in toward her, closing the distance between them so he can press his lips against her neck and kiss it hungrily.]
[Bryn has been resisting doing what she wanted almost immediately after Thor woke up and realized she was real. What she'd been hoping to do when she first arrived on their doorstep. They've kissed since her return but there's intimacy between them that they haven't renewed and...she was trying to be good. Trying to tell him everything and get it out of the way...
But his hands are warm over that scar tissue and the surrounding skin, and there's nothing in any blighted world that could convince her to tell him no when he comes closer and presses his mouth to the curve of her neck.
It's been eight very long months for her, and Bryn groans his name at once, hands reaching up behind her to slip into his hair and over the back of his neck.]
[With their words aside, Thor is glad to get onto something that they are very good at together. There will be plenty of time for talking, he's sure, but he wants to feel the kind of closeness he can't achieve through words.]
I've missed you far more.
[He promises, voice low and dark. His hands slide up her middle and front, squeezing her breasts in his hands. His stubble tickles against her neck and he lets out a breathy laugh.]
And I missed these too.
[He values the fact that they can be completely honest with each other.]
[She might argue with him over who missed who more, but it seems less important than the fact that they were both missed, that they're both happy to be there now. Eyes closing, she leans her back against his chest with a smile, hand drawing forward to cup one of his cheeks as the other drops to cover his hand. She responds with a low chuckle of her own, arching into his touch.]
The feeling is mutual.
[Enough so that she starts to reach for the hem of her shirt, intending to pull it up...then she pauses. Leans forward and grabs her phone off of the nightstand. From his vantage point he can no doubt see open a text message and address it to Taako and Loki.]
Thor is awake and well. Talk to you both later.
[She almost wrote "a few days" but...they'll probably guess as much, won't they?]
[Thor is watching the hem of her shirt intently, so he's surprised when she leans forward for her phone instead. He does glance over at the text, remembering that it was probably relatively concerning for the people around him that he had just collapsed for a few days.
Her mindfulness is, as ever, one of the many reasons why he's so taken with her. Once he's absolutely sure she's done writing, he wraps his arms around her middle and pulls her in close so that her back is to her chest. From behind is not the most romantic position for some, but personally Thor thinks it allows for more closeness. They're side by side and his hand slips between her thighs, rubbing her through her pants.]
[Even when they've been apart, they still seem to work well as a team in small things like this. Thor doesn't know what she's doing when she reaches for her phone but he accepts it, lets her do whatever she thinks is necessary...
Leaving her feeling in the free and clear to enjoy their reunion without anything hanging over their heads from that point on. Humming low at the back of her throat, she lets him pull her back against his body and half turns toward him. It's not a position that allows her to touch him easily, or kiss him, but while his hand slides between her legs she parts them further for him and strokes his arm.]
I think it was implied, considering what I had in mind when I first got here...
[She glances up at him, twisting further to face him, to look him in the eyes even with flushed cheeks.]
[Thor murmurs. It's easy to fall right back into their old routine. A little flirting and joking, running their hands over each other and lying in bed together. Bryn may not be able to touch him easily from this position, but Thor feels best when he can feel the warmth and shape of her body slotted perfectly against his.
His hand presses up between her thigh, fingers massaging between her legs while he watches her.]
[There was so much she meant to say. So much to tell him, months worth of stories and conversations and a bag full of things brought from home...
But it's all forgotten with his hands on her body, feeling him familiar and pressed to her back once more. She sighs, eyes closing as she sinks into the feeling--but not content to simply touch she twists around to face him.]
I should make you anyway...
[Her lips curve up slightly as she looks up at him once more, hands sliding up his body to wrap around his neck. She uses the weight of her body to try and press him back against the headboard.]
But I think I could be persuaded to let you off the hook this time.
[She's missed him too much, missed feeling him next to her and the intimacy they share. Hugs from friends and family have only served to make her all the more touch-starved now that she's here and he's awake.]
