It's a party, ya'll
who: Everyone's invited!
what: That potluck he mentioned
when: Saturday afternoon
where: The park
warnings: None so far!
[True to form, Remy pulled out all the stops for this particular potluck. He has it on good authority that Rogue's bringing cornbread, but he's got what seems to be a wireless two-burner setup that he's brought along to the park, one of which is dominated by a very large pot of fragrant and spicy gumbo, and the other by a very large pot of cooked white rice, on warm. There's a small table with plastic-seeming (but totally biodegradable) bowls and utensils, two large coolers (because people might be bringing drinks), two big folding tables (for all the things that might be brought) and a big expanse of the park to cop a squat in and have some good grub, place some outdoors-y things, and have some fun! The park as a grill too, if someone wants to fire it up!]
(OOC: Feel free to post your own starters and have a ball! This is meant to be fun, after all. If you want Remy specifically, let me know! He'll be wandering around.)

But she gestures to her wrist where her phone is.]
Yep! We're good for the park though. We got it on the first day! It's the best place to run, really.
But yeah. [Alex is pretty glowing.] Really good day.
no subject
Alex, I didn't know ya cared so much ta me see, chere. Yo' gonna make me blush.
no subject
Well, what can I say, I do love me some good gumbo!

I suppose I could keep going, but you threw this awesome party, so I really don't need to butter you up anymore.
It really was a great idea, though.
no subject
[He nods, still smiling.]
So, what's with the smile, eh? I know it's a pretty day, but you look like Santa just gave you all you asked for for Christmas.
no subject
I guess you could say that. I got some sleep and my friend and partner from back home showed up finally. Definitely something to thank Santa for.
[Along with all those answers she'd sought without realizing it.]

[He follows her gaze as she looks over to Richard, raising an eyebrow in the process. "Partner". That's how he supposed he'd describe Rogue, too, and a friend, even though they'd been more and he hoped one day, they could be more again. If the girl ever got over herself.]
An' just friend? [He chuckles slightly at that.]
Or somethin' else?
no subject
So, she leans in and confides softly:]
He hates the term boyfriend, but that's what he is. We're in a relationship.
no subject
Thought that's what that smile was all about. [He grins.] Well, glad you got him around. Maybe I should introduce myself.
no subject
I honestly just thought that it was all unrequited, but... [But they were here together and Alex felt the happiest that she'd felt in a long time. After a second she laughs and warns him:]
He can be kind of an ass sometimes, but I love him anyway.
no subject
Well, I think I can handle it. [He chuckles.] I've dealt with some hard-asses in my day, cher. You got any pointers?
no subject
Honestly the best advice that I can give you is not to take what he says personally. He just kind of is how he is.
no subject
cher, if I took ta heart every negative thing anybody ever said to me, I'd be flat out of feelin's.
no subject
Well, don't do that, you're too perfect as you are! But yeah, Strand's a special case.
[That may be a slight understatement.]
no subject
Perfect, eh? Now yo' jus' tryin' to butter me up.
[But fair enough, he crosses his arms, looking at her curiously.]
An' what makes Strand a special case, 'sides the obvious of course?
no subject
[The question was asked with a little grin, because it's Alex and she definitely would, but she's not here to do that in this case. She doesn't need to, they're already friends in her mind.]
Um, it's sort of a long story that he'd kinda hate for me to tell, actually. But he really is, and definitely worth all of the thorns he's got.
[A beat, and she looked down before she added:]
But for the love of god do not tell him that I'd said that, I'd never hear the end of it.
no subject
Now dat's true love an' no mistake, but don't you worry, cher. Yo' secret's safe with me.
no subject
Well, I hope so, because I love him and he loves me. I just try to smooth things out when I can. He's too pretty for a black eye, really.
