[closed] exploratory mission
who: John Proudstar, Peter Grant, Clarice Fong, Wally West, Shalimar Fox, Hiccup Haddock III, Ed Elric, Ava Orlova, Iona Lavellan, Lizzie Bennet, Kaldur'ahm, Rosie Nurumi, Shigeru Miyata, Ryo Asuka
what: Exploration missions!
when: Over several days
where: Outside the wall
warnings: potentially blood
[ After a few days of preparation - getting maps together, supplies, blankets, tents, packing it all up tight and efficient (no one can say that military training has no use), John sends a message around to those who offered their help with the exploration.
Then, it's about putting together teams - no need for such a big group to stay together. As long as someone can track, or knows the surroundings, and someone can fight, the biggest bases are covered. And then they're off beyond the wall, and into the unknown. ]

( kaldur bends down for a moment to pick up a stone. a small pebble, really, nothing more. after a glance to peter to see if peter will stop him, he throws the stone.
it would bounce off a shield, he assumes, unless the shield is designed only to keep out living matter. )

Alright, well. I'd just as soon not test it with a person, if it's all the same to you. Maybe see if there's another way in?

( after a moment's thought, he pulls one of his water-bearers from its casing on his back. the tattoos running down the arm holding the water-bearer glow and water flows to it, forming not a broadsword but something more akin to a sabre, thin and light. it will serve well to warn him before he walks into anything shield-like. )

And if he wants to be ready to defend himself, Peter is most certainly not going to argue. He nods once, then begins moving perpendicular to what he feels of the shield, trying to trace along the outside.]
I'm hoping not. Though if it does, that will probably be our answer on what it's for.
