[ Jim's been in the Quarantine for a year now. Plenty of time to make connections, and establish a solid circle of friends that he cares for, trusts and relies on.

Granted, nothing's perfect. Plenty of people have come and gone. A number of names come to mind, too many people who left that he misses dearly. But the people he has here now, he cherishes them immensely. They're important to him, and some of them he'd almost consider family.

And Victor has mentioned more than once that he'd like to meet his friends. Jim's not keeping their relationship secret by any means, and after a month of going steady, he knows for sure how important Victor is to him, and that he'll be an important part of his life for as long as they're both in the Quarantine. So, it seems like the perfect time to set up a little get-together and invite his friends so he can introduce them to Victor.

Finding a place is a little tricky at first, because his loft is still inaccessible due to the flood, and it's not like he's gonna ask Victor to do it at his place. Beverly offers the perfect suggestion, though, and so Jim sets up one of the holosuites with his Enterprise program. Once arriving at the holosuites downtown and stepping inside, everyone will get to walk through a few of the various corridors of his ship, but the simulation is still fairly limited, and there's only so many areas one can visit. The small party itself is happening on the bridge, which would likely be the most inadequate location if this happened to be the real Enterprise. Seen as it isn't, though, no harm done.

There are a few snacks and sweets for people to help themselves to, plenty of drinks to go around (alcoholic and otherwise), and Jim has gone with a selection of old pop and rock music to be playing quietly in the background. It's not much, but it's really a very informal thing. His main purpose here —and he'll be going around the party making sure it happens— is to introduce Victor to his friends. ]

Depends. I try to pick the most complex ones, but I used to have insomnia and so I’d end up doing them to pass the time. It take so me longer these days since I have less free time.

I imagine they are for a first-timer. You get the hang of it after a while.

[talentedscavenger]

Used to? What changed?

[Because, there are nights where she can't sleep. She can't get her mind to wind down and meditating can help, but not enough for her to get sleep.]

We'll see, I haven't tried anything like that. It's been a few months, but I don't have a reason to bake.

[jolting]

James. It's easier for me to relax with him around.

[He nods in understanding] I guess I wouldn't either if I didn't have a young girl in the house. And James has a sweet tooth, too.

[talentedscavenger]

Ah, I thought you meant something else. [Because, of course James helped him relax. Being around someone you like--someone that likes you back and to have something that meaningful would calm anyone down. At least that's what Rey thinks.

Though, the mention of a young girl makes her nod her head a little, trying to recall if Jim ever mentioned anything like that. It didn't quite ring a bell for her, but maybe the alcohol was making it hard to recall that specific information.]

Does he ask you to bake constantly or only when both of them want something sweet?

[jolting]

I try to keep things at a healthy middle. We cook together when we can, but sweets only once in a while as a treat.

[talentedscavenger]

[That only brings go mind Jim asking or maybe pleading with something sweet, and the thought of him doing that is enough to make her chuckle.] That sounds nice--though, I imagine it might be hard to say to both of them when they're asking you to bake something sweet.

[jolting]

It can be sometimes, but since they’re the ones cooking too, I don’t mind it as much.

[A pause, and his lips move up in a smile] Are you wanting me to make you something?

[talentedscavenger]

Me? No, no. [There's a shake of her head and a faint smile coming across her face.]

I was just curious, since I only see Jim at work or when we're running together. [Or movie nights, which may be far and few between, which was fine.]

[jolting]

I guess you guys keep pretty busy, huh? Do you enjoy working with him?

[talentedscavenger]

[There's a small shrug]

I wouldn't know what to do with too much free time.

Mmmhmm, I enjoy it a lot. He's a good Captain, and he was one of he first people I came to meet when I got here. One of my first friends. [Her smile had a touch of fondness there, recalling when Jim did his best to comfort Rey when Poe first left.]

[jolting]

[That gets a much warmer smile. He loves hearing James's people talk about him]

He does have a talent for befriending everyone he meets, doesn't he? Clearly. All of the people in this room are here as his friends. I have to admit it's a little overwhelming. This is my first time meeting the friends of someone I'm dating.

[talentedscavenger]

That he does, and he knows how to make people feel welcomed. [Her smile grows a little more.] This is the first time I'm meeting someone he's dating--and if I'm honest, I'm not usually one for parties.

[jolting]

Really? Well then, I'm honored you came for this.

[talentedscavenger]

[There's a soft chuckle.]

I'm honored to meet the person Jim cares so much for.

[And, she didn't like parties because she wasn't used to being in such large crowds. More than five people was too much for her at times--like when she went to a Thanksgiving party that Eddie threw together and it was hard to adjust.]

[jolting]

[He grins at that] I'll do my best to take care of him.
