[ Jim's been in the Quarantine for a year now. Plenty of time to make connections, and establish a solid circle of friends that he cares for, trusts and relies on.

Granted, nothing's perfect. Plenty of people have come and gone. A number of names come to mind, too many people who left that he misses dearly. But the people he has here now, he cherishes them immensely. They're important to him, and some of them he'd almost consider family.

And Victor has mentioned more than once that he'd like to meet his friends. Jim's not keeping their relationship secret by any means, and after a month of going steady, he knows for sure how important Victor is to him, and that he'll be an important part of his life for as long as they're both in the Quarantine. So, it seems like the perfect time to set up a little get-together and invite his friends so he can introduce them to Victor.

Finding a place is a little tricky at first, because his loft is still inaccessible due to the flood, and it's not like he's gonna ask Victor to do it at his place. Beverly offers the perfect suggestion, though, and so Jim sets up one of the holosuites with his Enterprise program. Once arriving at the holosuites downtown and stepping inside, everyone will get to walk through a few of the various corridors of his ship, but the simulation is still fairly limited, and there's only so many areas one can visit. The small party itself is happening on the bridge, which would likely be the most inadequate location if this happened to be the real Enterprise. Seen as it isn't, though, no harm done.

There are a few snacks and sweets for people to help themselves to, plenty of drinks to go around (alcoholic and otherwise), and Jim has gone with a selection of old pop and rock music to be playing quietly in the background. It's not much, but it's really a very informal thing. His main purpose here —and he'll be going around the party making sure it happens— is to introduce Victor to his friends. ]

[People watching is great, and those who say otherwise are stupid. Maybe she and Cassian should make a club for simply people watching....or maybe not, and let it be just a club for the two of them.]

It wouldn't be hard to figure out, but...it's not the same. The last ship I was on, it was the Millennium Falcon, and there's nothing else like her.

[Granted, she was a bucket of bolts, and garbage at times, but it has a legacy and more importantly...it was Han's. She didn't know the old man too well, but he was a father figure to her.]

I would like to think he'd want her to have a good time, even if that involves taking food back. Just hope he doesn't run out of it. [Because well, food was precious and Jyn knew how to eat.] Jim's my friend too, I wanted to be here to support him.

[Though, she prefers to just hang out in the background and not mingle with a lot of people. But, Jim was one of her closest friends and she wanted to be here for him.]

Anything new with you?

[a two person people watching club sounds like the perfect size!]

I have never heard of it. [the perks (?) of dying before the original trilogy. what's a han solo?? skywalkers?? we just don't know.]

Anywhere with food probably translates into Jyn having a good time, at least while she's eating. [he sounds so fond, like, more than usual.] She would deny being his friend, but I don't think anyone is here because they don't like Jim.

[he is a just a Good Dude. genuinely good people feel so rare in the universe. it's not a surprise rey would be jim's friend too though, because they are both Goods.]

I have stayed my own age, which is apparently noteworthy. [he makes out with jyn now! that's definitely new, but not really something he's talking about, so gonna gloss over any real answer.] How have you been, Rey?

[Yes! They could even bring snacks, like popcorn and make observations about people as they pass by. The perfect club!]

It completed the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs....and Han Solo was the captain of it.

[There's a faint sad smile on her face when she brought up her old friend. The man who offered her a job on the Falcon. The man who died by his son's own hands... But, best not to get into that right now.]

That's the impression I'm getting. But, it is Jim's party, he would've only invited people he liked, or considered a friend.

[Or people who wanted free food, and Jyn falls into that category--both actually. The same as Cassian. She raised an eyebrow at him staying "his own age."]

How is that noteworthy? [Was he supposed to look older? Younger? Whatever, it didn't make sense to her. But he should tell her he's with Jyn because she had a feeling about them--they're good for each other, she thinks.]

I've been fine. [A shrug of her shoulders. She doesn't like talking about herself and the mess she's in, but..she's better off here than she was on Jakku, so that's always a plus.]

I don't know who that is either. [all these hero names mean nothing to him! and cassian knows a lot of names. but he recognizes that fond if not sad look on her face. someone more personable to her. recent, if the stories of her childhood are anything to go by.] A friend?

[he sighs a little.] I do like Jim, and he knows that, unfortunately.

[listen there's been a lot of weird happenings in this place, but the de-aging flowers might be among the weirdest.] The flowers that temporarily regressed us in time. I would not have thought to mention staying my own age as relevant before now.

How fine is fine? [concerned anyway!]

[Rey held back the urge to let out a soft, almost chuckle from Cassian's reply. of course he wouldn't know Han Solo. He wouldn't know about the famous smuggler, or anything of that nature. He was busy fighting for the Resistance....and he didn't live long enough to learn of him.]

Yes, he was a friend....a good friend. [She'll focus on that instead.] He even offered me a job, but I said no..kind of regret it now. [A man she didn't know too well, only from stories and someone she never thought she'd meet. A man who was taken from him, by his own son and...she knew he deserved better. Han tried to do the right thing..he wanted his son back, but there was nothing she could do about that.]

You prefer to have people think you don't like them? [Teasing a little, because she gets the feeling Cassian likes her as a friend. Otherwise, he has a high tolerance for women who liked to eat oreos together in his apartment.]

Yeah...that was.interesting. It could've been worse. Least no one tried to take over the Moon or anything during that. [Because they were all children and Rey would be more careful about picking flowers or even observing them.

As for how 'fine' she was, there was another shrug of her shoulders.]

It is what it is. The rain flooded the apartment building I was in, just waiting to go back and see the damage. [But it was more than just the apartment. It was dealing with feelings and working so she wouldn't have to think about things like how to further her training and just...other things.]

[there's far more to it than that, cassian can tell. if this was any other person, he might even try to pry and get that more, but if rey wants to tell him, she can do so on her own time. the question he settles on feels like an easier one.] What kind of job? On the ship?

[he shakes his head, not without a wry sort of smile.] I don't usually like people to know what I am thinking in general. Old intelligence habits are hard to shake. [the spy mask is no longer needed and he knows that, but everything else it comes with doesn't just go away with a snap of his fingers.] Lack of planetary takeovers are always a positive.

[then he sort of frowns.] Do you have a place to stay in the meantime?

[which also makes him wonder after why none of them live on his and jyn's floor anymore. had they become.... too hermity??? no, impossible, it is the kids who are wrong.]

Han was a smuggler, so probably as a back-up pilot, or as an extra set of hands for a job.

[He was also a war hero, but no need to go into those sorts of details. Not when they were supposed to be having fun. Rey didn't want to dwell on it, not in public, not in front of Cassian who gave his life for the cause.

There was a soft laugh.] I know what you mean. I'm used to working, day in and day out. I don't know how to stand still for too long.

[Well, she could, but it was more for meditating, trying to gain some guidance from the Force on what to do next.]

The Guard is where I'm staying. Still better than an old AT-AT Walker.

[She wasn't about to encroach upon Cassian and Jyn's apartment. It wasn't their job to take care of her or anything.]

I'm hoping the rain will lighten up soon, I've come to enjoy a soft bed.

I have worked with smugglers before. It was risky with Imperial starships out there, but it could be just as useful too. [it's a little hard to imagine rey on a smugger's ship, but he has no doubt she'd be capable either way.]

[standing still means having time for his brain to think, and cassian never wanted much of that.] I am getting used to all this free time, but it has been a very slow process.

[satisfied she has a place, he nods.] The Guard is not a bad location. But we are here, if you would like a change of scenery. [he doesn't think of it like a job to take care of her. she's a friend, who needs a place to sleep. for once, cassian is even in a position to make that offer.] The sooner the better. Don't they have beds in the Guard?

I've been around them, but never worked for one. [Jakku had smugglers and all sorts of colorful individuals. She only heard talk of Han because he was infamous, and sometimes--most of the time, he owed people a thing or two.] He was also a war hero...helped destroy the Empire.

[So not truly a bad guy. He did his part in helping to destroy the Empire and giving the galaxy the chance to start a new.]

I've been told to try and find a hobby or look for something fun to do, but it's hard to get around to, you know?

[There was some comfort in doing a routine. You knew what you were getting yourself into...and Rey had no clue where to start on finding a 'hobby.'

It was touching....to have Cassian offer his shared space with Jyn to let her stay if she needed it. Poe's voice came to her mind, reminding her she had to let other people take care of her. She wasn't alone, and she didn't have to be. There weren't any strings attached.]

They have beds in the Guard. Some people make it their career so they stay on base all the time. But, I'll keep it in mind. I don't want things to get crowded, especially since you have a new addition.

[The cat. The adorable little cat that she saw when she went over to grab Finn when they were sharing each other's emotions. What a fun day that was.]

[he would have known him then, had he lived. a war hero who survived the war. it almost sounds fake.] I am sure all kinds of people were needed to win the fight.

[he snorts a little, but it's more dry than genuine amusement.] I think the only thing I do that can qualify remotely as a hobby is running. I do know how hard it is to get around to, even after all this time.

[he's gotten better, but a lifetime of war doesn't just leave you to hobbies in a couple months of peace.]

It would not be crowded, I assure you. The cat takes up so little space. The offer stands even for when you find a new home, but I am glad you've found a space until then. [a beat.] It's very strange to be alone on our floor again, I must say.

Yeah. A smuggler, a wookie, and a Princess, to name a few. [And a Jedi, but that probably should be discussed sometime later. Or...] Did anyone tell you what happened? You and Jyn? [The over all play by play of what happened? How the plans go into the hands of the Rebellion, and what battles were fought to win?]

Running is something I've taken up to help quiet my mind--better than meditating. [Because that didn't help so much these days.] If you need someone to run with, or need company, I wouldn't mind.

[Anything is better than simply sitting around. Anything is better than thinking about the past and re-examining things and thinking about the future while they were here. So running helped out a lot.

Cassian's offer is sorely tempting. She misses being able to see him and Jyn on a near daily bases whether it was coming or going. Sure, they all work at the Guard, but that was....work.]

Maybe I'll stop by soon? Bring a movie or something--and chocolate. Or shrimp, whatever you and Jyn prefer. [A beat.] I miss having you two close by. I don't really know my neighbors.

We have gotten bits and pieces when we asked. It's one of those things that is strange to discuss. Hearing about the future is... [it's uncomfortable, sometimes, especially when he's feeling hyperaware of his death.] It's tricky. I know the Princess Leia retrieved the plans. I knew her father much better.

Jyn and I try to run every morning. You are welcome to join us sometimes, or just join me, if you would like too. [he doesn't want to just offer up jyn, even if she doesn't think she'd mind. they don't always run together, but they usually go at the same time.]

We have that shrimp dispenser, all you can eat. [jyn's paintball prize.] But you should stop by, and you can bring some of those cookies again. I hope your new place, prior to the flooding, was at least a nice one.

[A slow nod of her head. She wasn't sure if she was in his position if she wanted to learn of the future--other than that their cause was a success. The Empire was destroyed, but now a new enemy rose from those ashes.

Now...wasn't the place to discuss it, considering the feelings it might dredge up, but he should know. He and Jyn should know about the other member of the Rebellion who helped--if he didn't know already..] If you ever want to talk more about it...we could. Not specifics, but there was another person who helped out, someone important.

[The offer to go out running is met with a slight smile. It would be nice...go out running with friends, better than going out alone.]

That sounds nice too. I'm fine with either or. Maybe..tomorrow morning?

[Assuming they don't have too many drinks tonight, or he's not busy tomorrow.

Oh yes! The shrimp dispenser, how could she have forgotten about that? or the look on Jyn's face when she actually won--her team covered in glitter, battered and colored, but victorious.]

Wouldn't you have to refill it with shrimp after a while? [Just curious about that, unless it was a magically shrimp dispenser that never needed to be refilled.] I could do that. There's more flavors with those cookies--something about being double stuffed or vanilla flavored.

[There was a pause as she thought about her place, how much time and energy it took to make it okay, and then the little touches she added to make it her own.]

It was nice--I had a few small plants, and a sizable bed. Hoping the flood didn't ruin it too much.

Thank you. My curiosity is always there, but finding out about things like the First Order has mildly dampened it. [cassian literally committed and gave up his life to stop the empire. that it would rise again, under a new flag but with all the same ideals, isn't something he likes to dwell on.] But I would not mind hearing about the people who fought sometime. What is the name?

[he nods, not quite smiling but ] Tomorrow is good.

[he sort of huffs a laugh about the shrimp dispenser.] It stays refilled. I have not asked how, but it is quite literally an endless supply of shrimp. [and jyn loves it.] Maybe the double stuffed. More food is better by Jyn's standards.

You should see how many plants Jyn has gotten now too. [THERE ARE SO MANY REY.] Let me know if you need any help to get re-situated. You probably have any repairs down on your own, but the offer stands there too.

[There's a feeling of guilt for having the First Order become such a strong presence now. It wasn't like Rey could've done anything until BB-8 had landed on Jakku and the events unfolded as they had.]

The work you've done hasn't been forgotten--and the First Order will be brought down. [That is a promise, she nor the Resistance will stand to have them imposing tyranny in the galaxy. But the name...] Luke Skywalker. He...[It still feels wrong to say this.] He was the last Jedi--he didn't start off as a Jedi, but became one.

[Oh, he wants to smile, she could tell, but she won't try to make him.] Tomorrow then, we'll go running.

[Something for both of them to look forward to. A way for Rey to be with her friends once more and bond together. Nothing says bonding like getting one's heart rate up.]

Wow, she must be very happy then. Nothing but endless shrimp--what more could she want? [Teasing because, there's probably other things that Jyn wants, like different foods and the like.]

Really? I wouldn't have thought she'd want plants if she has a cat.

[A nod of her head.] I know--and maybe, when it's in better condition you and Jyn could come over. If you two want that is. Could even bring the cat too.

People have mentioned the name before, but I had no idea who it was. [a jedi. he knew they couldn't all be dead, but with their eradication he assumed it would be a long while before any resurfaced. not that he's sure he would trust them right away - but there are a lot of old republic faces in the rebellion. times and people change.]

I must admit, it's useful when you do not feel like cooking or ordering food. Press a button, suddenly shrimp. [what a good paintball prize.]

The cat keeps away from most of them. We put the ones she likes higher up, out of reach. [he loves his cat.] We can bring her to visit with us. She likes to go outside, but only when one of us is with her.
