[ Jim's been in the Quarantine for a year now. Plenty of time to make connections, and establish a solid circle of friends that he cares for, trusts and relies on.

Granted, nothing's perfect. Plenty of people have come and gone. A number of names come to mind, too many people who left that he misses dearly. But the people he has here now, he cherishes them immensely. They're important to him, and some of them he'd almost consider family.

And Victor has mentioned more than once that he'd like to meet his friends. Jim's not keeping their relationship secret by any means, and after a month of going steady, he knows for sure how important Victor is to him, and that he'll be an important part of his life for as long as they're both in the Quarantine. So, it seems like the perfect time to set up a little get-together and invite his friends so he can introduce them to Victor.

Finding a place is a little tricky at first, because his loft is still inaccessible due to the flood, and it's not like he's gonna ask Victor to do it at his place. Beverly offers the perfect suggestion, though, and so Jim sets up one of the holosuites with his Enterprise program. Once arriving at the holosuites downtown and stepping inside, everyone will get to walk through a few of the various corridors of his ship, but the simulation is still fairly limited, and there's only so many areas one can visit. The small party itself is happening on the bridge, which would likely be the most inadequate location if this happened to be the real Enterprise. Seen as it isn't, though, no harm done.

There are a few snacks and sweets for people to help themselves to, plenty of drinks to go around (alcoholic and otherwise), and Jim has gone with a selection of old pop and rock music to be playing quietly in the background. It's not much, but it's really a very informal thing. His main purpose here —and he'll be going around the party making sure it happens— is to introduce Victor to his friends. ]

(( ooc: I'll be going around tossing Jim at people, possibly with Victor tagging along, but everyone's more than free to take this as an open log, so set up your own starters and tag around to your heart's content! ))

[Maybe it's because she's at the computer pushing buttons, which is more or less what Victor did on his first visit here. Whatever it is, Victor manages to approach her without urging from James]

Is it common for James to let you sit in his chair?

Jim doesn't let me do anything.

[ did you know jim had a little sister, victor? because this is literally what it is like to have a little sister. her legs swish back and forth as they dangle over the side of the seat. she looks incredibly comfortable in jim's captain seat tbh and not likely to move anytime soon. ]

Honestly, if I asked permission he'd probably think I'm ill.

[He did not, but he is an older sibling so he can see the markings of a younger sibling in her attitude. And he smiles, glancing over to where James is mingling with his other friends. He turns back to Jyn and offers his hand]

I'm Victor.

[ oho jyn sits up a bit more, giving victor a blatant once over, briefly shaking his hand. ]

Jyn. So you're the man of the hour, then, yeah? The reason Jim made me come to a party?

Well... He already met my friend, so I thought it was only fair I meet all of his.

[And a bit of silence] So how did you meet James?

Friend. [ jyn repeats it so she can point out the singular, but she seems pretty on board with only having one friend. she would only have one friend if jim wasn't so stubborn. ]

We're work colleagues. [ she told jim she was going to deny their friendship so. ] I'm on the guard with him. Only half on the aerial patrol.

Well, everyone else I know is still in Storybrooke and haven't shown up here. [Though he wouldn't really consider most of the inhabitants "friends". With the population growing, he doesn't even know who they all are anymore]

Ah. That's why you look familiar. I've dropped by to see him at work a few times.

He mentioned you're a doctor, why don't you work for the guard?

[ because he could work anywhere else probably. ]

The thought honestly hadn't occurred to me. Back home, I was a doctor at a hospital. So I just gravitated toward what was familiar when I got here.

I don't have a lot of experience working as a field medic, but if you all did need me, I would do all I could for you.

All I know is field medicine. [ the life of a child soldier. she doesn't mention that the last actual medical care she got before the quarantine itself was in prison. that seems unnecessary. ]

Maybe you could supplement the guard's basic first aid classes.

I'll have to think about it. The scientist in me does want to explore more of this place, and it would probably help the missions having a medical doctor around in case of emergencies.

[He's already half talking himself into it]

I don't think anyone would complain if you wanted to go out past the wall with a group.

[ jim certainly wouldn't so she can imagine a large part of the aerial unit would be happy to take victor along for the ride. ]

Be easier to treat people anyway if you know what they're dealing with.

That's a good point. I haven't thought of it like that before.

[He always sort of assumed that the Enchanted Forest people avoided him because he was Frankenstein, but maybe it was because he wasn't familiar with magical injuries and remedies. And he never bothered to learn]

I'll see if I can go on the next mission, then.

[ lmao jyn is really impressed with how he talked himself into this and a brief smile flutters across her expression. ]

My father taught me first aid because if I knew how to heal someone, I would know how to hurt them as well. The opposite seems equally logical.

[ she shrugs. ]

[Look he's not hard to convince once SCIENCE gets involved. And bonus for spending more time with James]

Well, I got into medicine so I could raise my mother from the dead, so who am I to judge?

[ profiterole halfway to her mouth jyn pauses, eyes wide. ]

You can do that?

[ brb gathering the bodies of her loved ones to drop at victor's doorstep like a cat bringing dead birds. ]

Sure. It's what I'm known for back in my world. Just look up "Frankenstein" and you'll see what I mean.

[Sob Jyn no, don't make him explain to his daughter and Jim why there are bodies in front of their house]

Well... it's a little hard to explain. But my story has been told a lot of different times and in different ways over the years. Not all of them are completely accurate, but there's enough truth in most of them for you to get a general idea.

That's rubbish. Haven't they ever heard of privacy?

You sort of forfeit your right to privacy once you become famous. Or infamous. Hell, where I was living, most of the world just thinks I'm a fictional character. Me and everyone else in our town.

[ jyn's nose wrinkles. ]

I'm glad we died before anyone wrote history books about us.

[That comment earns her a double take]

[ omg jyn no middle name erso you really need to stop springing that on strangers. whatever, she doesn't much care anymore. ]

I am, yeah. There's folks here from a few decades my time, apparently I'm famous in some circles. [ a beat. ] Posthumously.

[He nods. A few decades... She died so young]

Is it a good sort of famous, at least?
