So that's...normal in your world. The magical creatures battling each other?
[Though he's a bit confused by how all this works, he can't deny he's a little curious about what magical creature the professor might have. Yuuri looks around them, expecting to see--well, something.]
Why yes. But Pokemon battles is not only for defense and captures, it is another way for trainers and Pokemon to test their training together and the bonds they formed.
[When he asks abou his Mach Pokemon's whereabouts, he takes out his Poke Ball from his pocket to show him.]
Right here. It may look very small, but Garchomp is right inside the Poke Ball.
Training and bonding together doesn't sound so bad... [He's still not sure what to make of the battling, but there's plenty of time to ask the professor about it later.
Yuuri does look at the poke ball with some shock, though.]
But... you're right, it's so small. How does anything fit in there?
[He doesn't say anything else when Yuuri asked that question. Instead, he tosses his Poke Ball up in the air, which it pops open and releases a blue energy that transforms into his Mach Pokemon.
Regardless of Yuuri's reaction, Sycamore remained calm as he pets his Garchomp on her snout, much to her delight.]
I think that should answer your question. But I might not able to answer about the Poke Ball's mechanics. Trust me, it's a little bit complicated.
That's--wow. [It's hard to believe that a pokemon that size could fit into the tiny poke ball, but he can't deny it when he saw it with his own eyes.]
That's okay. [He watches with interest as the fierce looking pokemon accepts the professor's petting happily.] As long as it's comfortable and it works--
[Yuuri never gets to finish his sentence, because that's when the Honedge decides to come back, circling around him and the professor.]
[Talk about a good timing. Despite that Garchomp is ready to defend him and the young boy, Augustine stops her before she can even attack as he puts his hand to Yuuri's shoulder.]
Don't worry. Remember, try to stay calm make sure to reason and apologize with it before anything else.
R-right.... [Yuuri nods, turning back to the pokemon that's still hovering near them. Okay. Apologizing to a magical sword creature. He can definitely do that. Maybe. Probably.
He bows to the pokemon, all politeness.] I'm sorry I grabbed you! I wouldn't have, if I'd known what you were!
[Slowly, the Honedge drifts closer until it's hovering just before him. The silence drags on, like it's judging Yuuri very carefully before it decides what to do.
Yuuri just keeps his head down and tries not to fidget too much as he waits.]
[As he watches him apologized to the Sword Pokemon, Sycamore is still holding his Garchomp down to prevent her from intervening with brute force while he still hopes that it might understand the young man's reasons behind that little accident.]
[Just as Yuuri's starting to wonder if this was all a mistake, the Honedge reaches out with its blue sash and steals Yuuri's glasses from where they're dangling off his nose. With a hollow little laugh, it rises up into the air and circles around both professor and confused skater again.
Yuuri straightens up, one hand rubbing at his nose where his glasses had sat earlier. Tentatively, he looks over at the blurry professor again.]
Ah... do you think that means it's accepted my apology?
[At least it's not attacking him anymore--that has to be a good sign, right?]
[Not the reaction he was expecting, but at least it doesn't show any hostility. Yet, he is confused at how the Sword Pokemon just stole his glasses like that. Does that mean it has a mischievous personality?]
I think so... Although, I'm more curious at Honedge's personality.
[As if it's agreeing with the professor, the Honedge takes the opportunity to jab at Yuuri's shoulder as it whirls past him, making Yuuri squeak and flinch away in surprise again.]
I--you really think so?
[Yuuri isn't too sure about it himself, though the pokemon seems oddly determined to heckle him. With a sinking feeling, Yuuri wonders if the pokemon just thinks his reactions are amusing.]
[Yuuri's mouth drops open slightly, this whole thing just taking a turn that he never would have expected.]
I... [Though he takes the pokeball, he simply lets it sit in his palm as he looks between the Honedge and the professor.] How does this work? I saw you call your Garchomp out, but...
[Yuuri looks down at the ball for another second, before holding it up to the Honedge, who's stopped in front of him now.]
Is this what you want? [He asks, too polite and too unused the concepts from the professor's world to skip asking. The Honedge gives another mischievous twirl and then decisively taps the pokeball for him. It's sucked into the capture device immediately, leaving Yuuri standing there with wide eyes. Even when the professor had suggested keeping it, Yuuri hadn't expected the pokemon to agree.
He cradles the device in his palm and smiles hesitantly at professor Sycamore.]
You wouldn't happen to have a guide to taking care of Pokemon like this, would you? [Because he has no idea.]
[As he suspected, the Sword Pokemon somehow accepted the young skater as his trainer once he sees him being captured into a Poke Ball that he gave to Yuuri. Yet, he is still curious at Honedge's personality, which he had a feeling that it might be a little difficult for him to handle without some help.]
I don't have one, but I do have a night class on helping you on Pokemon caretaking and training.
Still, I have a feeling you might have a hard time about your new Honedge, so I may give you some few pointers, Mr...
[Although thanks to Yuuri, he may try to make a guide about it for first-time Pokemon owners and trainers in Riverview.]
Katsuki. [Yuuri answers, a beat later when he realizes what the Professor's asking for. He snaps out of his daze.]
A night class... Would you mind if I attended them? [Even though he's a little confused how it all ended up like this, he does recognize that he should try to learn something about pokemon care, now that Honedge has apparently decided to go with him.
He bows his head, grateful.] Some pointers would be nice until then.
The best way you can find out is to check what kind of things he wants, such as his favorite food or a hobby. Pokemon as like human beings, after all, they all have different personalities despite their species.
Why yes. Other than Pokemon food and berries from my world, they sometimes eat some desserts for human consumption. Also, there's even some special pastries and desserts made for them such as Pokepuffs and Poffins.
If you want to find his favorite food though, I suggest you let him try any berry and food.
[He even gives a can of Pokemon food to Yuuri from his bag.]

[As for some small pointers...]
Well, the first thing you should know is to know more about your Pokemon. You know, what your Honedge's favorites and dislike and it's personality.

[Yuuri sighs, pulls a face, and looks at the pokeball he's still holding onto.]
I think it's safe to say that it's got a... mischievous kind of personality. How do I find out what it likes and doesn't like, though?

[What would magic swords even want to eat??]
