I'm fine, [ jyn grumbles, struggling to her feet and blinking rapidly so the tears brimming in her eyes will go away. this has the exact opposite effect and a few tears roll down her cheeks. ]

Papa says during the war the clone troopers saved us from the droids.

[ that's why she has a trooper doll which she says with stubborn tenacity like she can change the subject from her tears with willpower alone. ]

[evasives]

You don't seem fine. [because she has literally started crying??]

[but his eyes go wide the moment he processes her words.]

[this girl comes from a republic family. it explains why she'd have a toy of one, but it makes him a lot more suspicious of her.] Maybe they saved you, but they did not save many others. They invaded planets that did not want them.

[realists]

The droid army killed the flower people, [ she snaps with all the pompous determination of being six and stubborn. she might not remember any of this more than remembering riding around in papa's backpack, but that doesn't mean she doesn't know stuff. ]

The troopers protected their planet! And them!

[evasives]

[he bristles. she's probably his age when he lost his parents. it was a wake up call, but it was also a very different image of the war before that. at least she distracted him from her fall!]

And the troopers killed lots of my people. [he's more concerned about them than flowers.] That is not protection.

[realists]

[ THEYRE FLOWER PEOPLE, YOU UNEDUCATED SLUT ]

They're both huttheads!

[evasives]

[he can't help it. they're still arguing, but the way her tiny squeaky voice sounds when she says huttheads makes him snort.]

The droids are gone anyway. But I will always hate the troopers.

[realists]

There aren't any where I live.

[ just... her doll. she doesn't get why this mean boy doesn't like them -- well, they killed his people and that's bad! but they protected people from the droid army! she is six, she doesn't know what she is supposed to think because her mama and papa aren't here to tell her. ]

You can live there.

[evasives]

I'm fighting them. I can't live there.

[it's very odd to be offered a place to live, even if it's from a six year old. a seemingly safe place. he looks puzzled about it, and by how hot and cold she is.]

I don't even know where you mean.

[realists]

It's secret, I'm not 'posed to tell anyone. [ but she's distracted by the first part, looking confused. ]

You're big enough?

[evasives]

Then how am I supposed to come live there if you don't tell me where?

[he fidgets. somehow being questioned about his fighting by someone younger than him feels like he needs to hide it, even though he'd definitely been fighting already at her age.]

I had to be. The troopers didn't care how old I was.

[realists]

I dunno, Saw will bring you like he brought us.

[ duh. sh rubs her elbow idly and sets her doll down on the chair. she supposes that lucky hazz can go on adventures with her today. ]

[evasives]

I don't know who Saw is either.

[and he is Uncertain, because this girl has clonetrooper toys! what if this saw person is former republic, that would be terrible. he doesn't want to go anywhere with someone who might be hostile towards old separatists.]

Besides, I doubt it will stay safe even... wherever you're hiding.

[realists]

He's Saw! The Lion of Onderon. He doesn't look like a lion though, that's just what Has said he was called when he was talking to Mama. He- he lib- he libear- he made his planet safe. [ liberated is simply too much for her child's tongue. ] And he flew us from Coruscant when Papa said he didn't want to work for them anymores.

[evasives]

Liberated? [he's been around enough rebels to know that word by now, even if it took him quite some time to get there.] I still don't know who he is though.

[he sort of squints.] If you left Coruscant, that means your family doesn't like the Empire, right?

[he already hated the empire at age six, it doesn't occur to him others that age may not have such strong feelings too!!]

[realists]

[ jyn shrugs because... she doesn't know. she only knows she is supposed to hide when anyone comes looking for them. ]

Mama wanted to leave. She didn't want me there.

[evasives]

Good. Coruscant is the heart of the Empire. It's better that you left.

[jyn's mama seems... better, if she wanted to leave coruscant, even if she gave her child a clonetrooper toy.]

Even if she gave you a toy of the enemy.

[realists]

[ jyn's always had a temper. it was usually chalked up as reckless and youthful abandon with an exasperated sigh from her father and a stern telling off by her mother, but sometimes -- like when she was unintentionally rude to papa's business friend -- jyn knew mama didn't really mind.

she would probably mind this.

jyn hauls her arm back and pops off, punching cassian in the face with a tiny fist. ]

HE'S MY FRIEND!

[ before anyone can come in and scold her, jyn sprints for the door, little legs speeding her across the floor until she's just a wisp of dark hair disappearing around the door.

whoops? ]

[he's so annoyed and angry he doesn't bother chasing after her, because he is clearly the more Mature child here. instead he just yells after her.]
