who: Thor, Val and Kara.
what: Thor slowly moves his girls into his house.
when: Presently.
where: Thor's house.
warnings: General Warning for Valkyrie.
[Although Thor’s house had once been a source of great pride and happiness for him, it has become something of a standing reminder of what he’s lost recently. He’s not usually the sort that succumbs to throes of despair, but the peacefulness of Riverview makes it difficult for him to really throw himself into any challenging busy work.
It’s a big house for one man, one dog and a goat. There are multiple rooms, some of which go untouched for days on ends. Thor occupies his space well and his clutter begins to expand beyond his room as he realises he has nothing to prove to anyone. He spends enough time there that he isn’t neglecting the animals he’s caring for, but he spends as much time as he can out of the house and away from the knick knacks that remind him of the fact that he used to share this house with someone else.
But he’s doing fine.
He gladly accepts the invitation to spend a night out with Valkyrie and Kara. Although his stance with Val has been altered, he still feels perfectly comfortable with her. The longer they avoid talking about it, the easier it gets to move on with their lives.
His home happens to be the closest when they end the night late. Or early. It’s some bleak hour of the morning when they roll in and situate themselves across the large collection of couches and beds. He sleeps easier just knowing they’re there and when he wakes up, he feels a strange sense of peace having other people in the house with him.
The night wasn’t enough to knock him down for long, so it’s not long before Thor drags himself off the couch and moves into the kitchen to start cooking breakfast and making coffee. He manages to plate up and set the table without waking them, somehow. He’s impressed, but he walks into their final resting place to judge them before he raises a metal spoon to a frying pan and slams them together.]

Morning.

She probably accidentally kicks Val in the process, it's all a disaster.]
Fuck.
[Kara isn't quite at the level where she can glare at Thor, but she's seriously considering it anyway.]
no subject
Fucking shit. 'Swrong with you?
no subject
The knife whistles past him and he eyes it, warily.]
I'm fine, thanks. [He sets the pan and spoon down, only so he can assertively place his hands on his hips.]
I'm not saying you should fall over yourselves for bacon but a little gratitude would be nice.
no subject
[That really should be valkyrie 101, even if they're potentially hungover, they're still going to wake up poorly at a sudden noise.
But Kara, at least, feels bad about her reaction.]
Sorry 'bout the knife. You made bacon?
[It's not quite surprise, maybe more like intrigue. She's hungry.]
no subject
[She pulls herself to her feet, groggy, and takes a whiff—oh, Hel yeah, that's bacon.
The dagger returns to its hiding place, and she pads toward the kitchen like she owns the damn place. Val rubs at her temple with the heel of her hand, trying to assuage the monumental headache she can feel coming on.]
Starving, thanks.

I relish the opportunity to play host to drunken, violent women. [He says, with a sweet little smile before he sits himself at the head of the table. It's a decent spread of toast, butter, eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and sauces.
Thor takes a long sip of his coffee.]
Did you sleep well?
no subject
Couch is soft.
[It's been.... a while since she's slept in a real person bed. It's also been a while since she's eaten at a real person table, which is why she just picks up a piece of bacon with her fingers and shoves it right in her mouth.
She doesn't quite finish chewing before she adds:]
Thanks for letting us sleep here.
no subject
[Violent, she can't exactly argue with. She sits down, too, already dishing up before her ass has even hit the seat, taking an Asgardian-sized helping of everything. Val nods along with Kara, face in her coffee mug.]
Best sleep I've had in ages. Community housing beds are shit.
no subject
[Thor nods, agreeing with Valkyrie. He slept on those beds for a long time.]
Yes, the communal housing makes this place seem like a palace, but at least you're never alone. [Thor shrugs, shoveling some food into his mouth as well. Just because he's the head of the table doesn't mean he eats with manners.]
no subject
You wanna listen to snoring you can have my bed, I ain't using it.
no subject
Do you just not sleep?
no subject
But where do you usually sleep? I thought you lived in the communal dorms.
no subject
[She sort of gives Thor a look like she's not sure if she's being insulted and she's not sure that she can do anything about it, even if she is.
After a second, she shrugs.]
The forest, if I gotta. Nothing out there annoys me.
[A great place to sleep that don't involve being surrounded by a bunch of strangers. Monsters lurking? Totally fine. Some weird human she doesn't know? No Trust.]
no subject
[Val looks mildly impressed, and a little rueful.]
...Shame I didn't think of that.
no subject
If you're going to sleep in the dirt to avoid people, you can at least sleep in my garden. [He offers, between a sip of coffee.] Or in a bed. I'm not picky, as long as it's not my bed.
no subject
[Seriously, Thor, she's not an animal. Says the woman with toast crumbs on the side of her mouth.]
You want us to stay here?
[Just checking that he's not joking, because she doesn't know this Thor as well as she knows her own.]
no subject
[Except she would and they both know it, but that's neither here nor there.
Her brows raise.]
Seriously?
[It comes out more like "smrslm" though because she has a mouthful of egg.]
no subject
I would prefer for you both to stay here, rather than sleeping in the woods or pestering other innocent people. [He says it easily, stifling the fact that this idea is really growing on him.] Besides, I like this place too much to leave it, but it seems ridiculous to have such a big house with one person in it.
no subject
At the end of the day, Kara isn't sure she'd deny a request from Thor, even one that he's sort of dancing around actively making. This, at least, she understands. It's hard to ask for company.]
Sure, got nowhere better to be.
[Letting him keep up the pretense this is just a convenience thing.]
You want rent?
[She isn't actually sure if he owns this place or just rents it so - she can chip in. All she does with her money is buy booze and she's earning more than she really needs.]
no subject
Might as well. Be nice to have a little privacy.
no subject
No, rent won’t be necessary. I own the place, anyway. [Thor shrugs.] You could chip in for food and utilities. Replace the booze you drink, that sort of thing. [His eyes fall pointedly on Val when he says that.]
Do you want to come and claim a room, then? [He’s pretty much done with his food, so he’s rising from the table.]
no subject
'Kay.
[It's a response to both statements; she'll chip in for groceries and utilities and she'll pick out a room, although she does grab one last piece of bacon as she gets up.
To Val:]
You wanna pick first you can, I ain't fussy.
[A room is a room, really.]
no subject
Fine by me. I keep my own stash anyway.
[Damned if she's going to get stuck as a teenager again and be caught empty-handed and unable to buy her own.
She grins at Kara, standing up from the table and slamming down the rest of her coffee as she heads up the stairs. The first room she comes across gets a brief glance of approval; good view, not too much sunlight.]
This'll do.
no subject
He doubts it.]
I’ll show you the next one. [He leads them over. It’s not a huge room, it’s nicely lit (just as the whole house is) and very simply furnished.]
Do you like it? [He looks at Kara, wanting her approval.]
no subject
Nicer than most rooms I've had.
[They aren't high standards, she's spent most of the last decade living out of shitty motel rooms.]
Why'd we sleep on the couch last night when these were here?
[Sort of a legit question, sort of a joke, she doesn't remember much of the 'getting back to Thor's' adventure so it's entirely possible there was a logical reason she's forgotten.]
no subject
Yeah, what the fuck? You could've carried us up here and stuck us in bed.
no subject
[Thor folds his arms over his chest, an unimpressed look on his face.]
Besides, once you both settled in I couldn’t stand to move you again. Mostly because I was worried you’d start throwing up.
sorry im slow garbage
Haven't done that since I died, don't even think it's possible.
[She's definitely been intoxicated, usually with the help of magical alcohol or drugs, but she's never hurled.]
you're our slow garbage <3
She does, however, look incredibly offended at the thought that she might have thrown up.]
Say that again and you'll taste my steel. I never puke.
