(Lucretia has always fought better in pairs than alone.
Its to do with her defensive capabilities; she's extraordinarily good at buff magic, at covering those with more destructive power, keeping them safe as they dive in head first. She can at least hold her own when she needs to but it's trickier. It isn't as fun, either! She likes being in a team.
Regardless, she's grouping creatures together with lightning spells and the odd fireball, trying to keep an eye out for other fighters or innocents about to be caught in the line of fire, anybody who needs a hand or a quick shield. Her elemental magic isn't at the same level as her abjuration work; eventually she falls back, starts to conserve her higher level spell slots.
Anybody who has just found themselves in a sticky situation or just looks like they need an extra hand will suddenly find a neat shield of faith being cast about them.)

[ He shrugs, thinking she means Riverview in particular. ]
This, though? Holy shit, could you imagine if we had half of this on the ship back in the day?

(She even slips her phone out of her pocket, holding it up.) Even just having something like this would have been so useful.
no subject
You gotta introduce me to her in general, first.
[ Now regarding the phone. ]
It's like a Stone of Far Speech but infinitely improved! Just. Imagine being able to quietly text each other in a tense situation. Fuckin' wild.
[ Incredible. ]

Of course. She's been very busy lately at the hospital what with the flooding; I'd have you over otherwise.
(They're at her office! She opens the door, lets him step in ahead of her. It's... not as messy as it could be, but there's a lot of paper all over the place. Little stacks here and there. Lots of books, lots of clutter on her desk, including a lovely little placard right at the front.)
I know, (she says wistfully, leaving him by the door to edge around the corner of her desk, lifting a stack of paper out of the way with mage hand to place it nearly atop a filing cabinet,) I want it for the camera function. It's so useful.
Here, have a seat. (There's one in front of her desk, and there's only six books on top of it!)
no subject
Nice. So what'd you want to show me?
[ He asks as he takes his seat. ]

Okay. (She gives her monitor a shove around so he can see the screen,) It's a personal research project on the different kinds of magic here. I was intrigued by what kind of powers everybody had; how they cast; how they came to learn their craft. So I started asking around, put up a couple public forums to gather information, and I'm compiling it.
(The resulting word document is very very long.) It used to be on paper, but a friend of mine helped me convert it digitally.

Woah. We got a lot of material to work with here, Cretia...
[ Think of all the possibilities! ]
Just imagine what we can learn about the arcane across different planes!
[ IMAGINE FINDING THE SECRET TO IT ALL ]

(She sounds very smug. She's been developing it on and off obviously, but it's a very sizable chunk of information that she's proud of having compiled alone.)
I know, (she continues, her voice pitching a little with excitement. This is why she's so happy to have Barry here, because he gets this stuff, finds it just as interesting.) Magic is teachable here too, Barry– I've been thinking, and I wonder if we would be able to teach each other different kinds of magic? Loki, for example, doesn't need to concentrate on his magic while he casts. Do you think that's teachable? We could plug up the holes in each other's casting methods.
no subject
None? At all? It just fucking happens?
[ He looks down at the data as if that is gonna answer his question but. Woah. That's such a wild god damn concept. ]
I mean, almost anything is teachable right? The problem might be not having enough power.
no subject
Yeah. He can just do it. No preparation time, no centering, no grounding; literally nothing. He snaps his fingers and magic happens, he hardly has to think.
(Buck fucking wild.
But the moment Barry mentions the aspect of power... she deflates, slightly.)
Oh, I... didn't consider that. Hmm. This, right now though? As I am? Barry, this is almost as powerful as I can possibly be.
no subject
Maybe that's just it. Each person has their max power based on maybe their race or somethin'? Loki's a fuckin' god so. But they kept him here...
[ And that is the scariest thing. It seemed like The Raven Queen, Pan, any of 'em could do whatever they wanted and no one could stop 'em. And here's one of their kind stuck in Riverview like the rest of 'em.
He finally sets it to the side. ]
What else you been up to around here, anyway? Besides flirtin' with girls.

(An unsatisfying answer. She'd ask Loki about it if she weren't so sure he'd be evasive and irritating about giving direct answers. Either that, or he'd answer her plainly and that wouldn't satisfy her either. Knowledge is a hard thing to want to collect.)
Sometimes I forget, that he's a god, (she admits, shrugging a shoulder.) It's strange, being able to talk with him so openly. It skews perspective.
(Anyway. Barry is looking at her expectantly, and Lucretia smiles, even as she rolls her eyes.) Working. Painting. I haven't painted so consistently in a long time, actually. It's... nice. It's really nice.
