[semi-closed mingle] kigu party!!!
who: The IPRE + cr + adjacent cr
what: exactly what it says on the tin: it's a kigu party lads
when: second weekend of march
where: Casa Del Taco
warnings: none atm! will update if necessary
[There's something strange about knowing he's been here an entire year. Twelve months ago Taako stepped out of the portal into this world and while it's tempting to be kind of morose about it (especially after the past month) he's trying to kick things into a slightly more positive gear. The party is his idea but the theme is Hana's, an idle suggestion about how fun it would be to get everyone into a kigu. The best part about the idea is that it requires minimal effort on Taako's party, because for all that he loves going all out for parties, sometimes it's nice to just throw something together. Especially when he's more interested in sorting out his relationship with Kravitz or hanging out with Barry, who he hasn't properly seen for over a decade. So it's a party but it's a laid back party, texts are sent out a week in advance and he spends any free time preparing for the night.
The house is left relatively undecorated aside from the addition of several oversized cushions and beanbags in the living rooms, but Taako also casts Magnificent Mansion to expand the space. He adds two home theatres, for movies, video games or karaoke, depending on who's in control of the room at the time. There are also extra bedrooms, in case anyone wants to crash for the night.
While the theme of the night - wear a goddamn kigu and look cute as fuck - isn't being enforced by Taako, it is being enforced by Hana, so anyone brave enough to get past the door without a kigu might have to spend the night avoiding a tiny meka pilot.
As expected for a party hosted by the twins, food plays a fairly big role, although like the rest of the evening they've gone for a more lowkey affair. Sliders, falafel, tamales, vegetable platters with dips, about five different kinds of fries (zucchini, polenta, kumera, potato, jicama) and mini pizzas; things that are easy to pop on a plate and eat without making a mess, but it's all fresh and delicious. The dessert and snack options are a little more impressive, between the flavoured popcorns and well kitted out waffle bar. There's candy and Taako's signature macarons, along with a veritable selection of wine, beer and punch, the latter both spiked and virgin.
Rather than do something as simple as baking cookies for everyone, Lup and Taako have a much more fun idea in mind. They've prepared separated batches of sugar cookie dough and laid out spices, flavours and additives; there's cinnamon, vanilla, choc chips, butterscotch, lemon juice, and mint, amongst pretty much any baking ingredient (here's some ideas for inspiration). Be careful not to mess up the wet/dry balance of the dough, although ruined cookies can be a bonding experience. Once they're baked (it doesn't take long), there's confectioner's sugar, butter, milk, water for whatever icing characters desire, as well as toppings such as sprinkles and crushed nuts.
There are a few things to keep people entertained throughout the evening. The sun room has been delegated as a mini day spa kind of space, with sheet masks, nail polish, lotions, and an assortment of hair care tools. There's nothing that's too complicated or that'll get too messy, but anyone who wants to get comfy and indulge in a little self-care is more than welcome to kick back and relax.
In those home theatres there are movies, games and karaoke songs from all different time periods and realities. Anything from Taako's media library is available, plus some extra video games that both Hana and Cisco supplied, from racing to PVP battles to VR. And a few very bad dating sims for shits and giggles. In the rest of the house, more traditional games are available, whether that’s board games like Clue and Twister, or party games like truth or dare and two truths and a lie. At one point someone breaks out a bag of marshmallows to play fluffy bunny. (There are so many of these things, make them up, I'm not your dad.)
Despite the general atmosphere in the rest of the Quarantine during Sampremi, the party is kept relatively tame, although some of the games might get a little risqué as the night goes on, it's not as if he can control what people do. So long as everyone's having fun, he's happy.]

loki
[ movies ]
[ Loki hadn't been familiar with movies until Taako. Which goes for 95% of his experience with human pop culture. He's not yet the savant his other self is, but Loki picks things up quickly. Today, he's curled up on the cushions with popcorn, watching one of his all-time favourites. Birdemic ]
Personally, I think the highlight of this movie is using coat-hangers as weapons.
[ nails ]
[ Loki is eyeing the various shades of nail polish surreptitiously before picking a few up and showing it to whoever is closest. ]
This one? Or should I settle for green?
[ wildcard ]
[ Loki will be playing bad dating sims or fucking with the twister instructions. ]
nails
... I like both.
How do you put it on your nails?
no subject
You use this. It is not as easy as it looks though.
no subject
[She eyeballs it, feeling a little silly in retrospect. She's had certainly overthought some of these things — had considered if maybe it's a special vial that makes nails grow in a new color. Silly her.]
Why isn't it easy? Does it hurt? I can handle it if it does...
no subject
[ He plugs it up again, waving the bottle. ]
Interested?
no subject
She nods, looking at the vial as a new challenge. If this is something normal people do for fun, it's at least something she'd like to try. Besides, the nails she's seen around were pretty. Especially the kind that sparkle like space.]
Sí, estoy muy interesado.
...
But not the long nails. I have claws, so I don't need the long nails.

we're playing girls club and you can't stop me
[There's just a veritable platter of boys on the screen, of which none are appealing to Taako.]
I know they're like - teenagers so that's a fucking instant downgrade, but these dudes ain't shit.
[Someone would point out they're very 90s but it's a concept neither Loki nor Taako are familiar with so they just have to suffer.]
do you know how hard it was to watch that
Why is everything they wear baggy and neon? If I wanted to date terrible pre-teens, I would have stayed on Sakaar.
here this will cleanse you https://youtu.be/cSTdrTalcaU
[Isn't there, Taako? Isn't there?]
Maybe that's what teen girls are into?
no subject
[ To some degree. Loki can't claim to be an expert, though he has about the same fuss as a teenage girl. ]
no subject
[Ellie, Letha, even Alyssa who he's only recently met doesn't seem like the sort of Teenage Girls(tm) that are gossip about boys.
Well maybe Letha, but Ellie liked girls so definitely not her.]

movies
Loki's comment, though, that's what makes him laugh. A light little snort. ]
I dunno, the believable birds are uh. Pretty fuckin' choice.
no subject
Very believable, with the way their wings only move up and down.
no subject
[ He takes a seat next to him without thinking much of it. Not too close in his bubble, mind you. ]
Barry, by the way. [ He says while raising his food in a hello since he can't wave and eat at once and let's be real on which is the priority here. ] Nice to meetcha. You here for Taako and Lup or Magnus?
no subject
Taako, though I know Lup and Magnus as well.
I am Loki.
no subject
He brightens as he recognizes the name. ]
Oh yeah, Lup mentioned you. You made that vessel for her while her body was incubating. That's some pretty sick skills you got.
[ He just. Assumes everything is magic because everything is magic in Faerun... ]

(Like Lucretia can talk. She's dressed as a bat, though not by choice.)
I'm going to do mine too; I could do your non-dominant hand, if you like.
no subject
[ Ah. It takes him a moment to catch up. ]
Ah. I can manage. I'm ambidextrous.
[ He has to be, to handle his knives so deftly. ]
But I'd be more than happy to help you out.
no subject
No need. I am also ambidextrous.

The green is nice, but the purple totally rocks with that color change. Kinda goes with your complexion, too... and the dark hair.
[ She pops open the bottle and reaches to take his hand. Apparently she's doing this for him, now. ]
no subject
I've never experimented much with purple. Perhaps I should give it a try.
no subject
That looks so good, Loki. Perfect contrast to your eyes, green would have made them pop less.
no subject
You think so? Then I shall make a serious attempt.
