Ren stares at him, mouth pulling into a frown as he considers the doctor's instructions. Perhaps he can strong arm him-- or another doctor-- and let that be the end of it. The thought crosses his mind, and then passes. He's well enough to face the dangers beyond the wall; he knows it. Showing Dr. Whale how well his injuries have healed should be no problem at all.
Even though he's still a bit sulky about it, he pulls his sweater up, over his head, to toss onto a nearby chair. There's only the slightest wince, the movement aggravating his left arm. Getting shot in the shoulder has done a number there, with the nerve pain extending down to the tips of his fingers, but it's improved over the past six weeks, thanks to a combination of whatever back-alley medtech he could access and stubborn physical therapy. He's not at 100%, but he's functioning.
The second injury, just above his hip, still causes aches, but all in all, seems to be responsible for fewer complications.
At least these two fresh(er) injuries are easy to tell apart from his multitude of older wounds, the various scars from lightsabers and blaster bolts. ]
[he waits patiently until Ren follows instructions. Victor knew he would eventually. While the kid could go to someone else, Pierce is more familiar with Victor and would know that whatever diagnosis came out of this exam, it was one not strong-armed by the patient.
Speaking of arms, Victor snaps on some gloves and starts pressing his fingers not very gently into the muscle of the shoulder and back where Ren was shot. He didn't miss that wince]
Do a few physical therapy routines for me.
[he has no doubt Ren's been doing it, but six weeks is hardly enough recovery time after shoulder surgery]
[ Ren grits his teeth, trying his damnedest not to hiss when the doctor presses into the muscle of his shoulder, still strained and healing. Extending his arm, Kylo begins to go through the motions of some routine exercises he's been practicing.
...and it's pretty obvious that it's still painful, and his muscles are still weakened, thanks to the damage to his brachial plexus. Still, Kylo seems determined to push past the pain and prove just how totally, completely recovered he is. ]
Not really, no. Because the rule about physical therapy is that if it's painful, don't do it. And you're clearly pushing your body to keep doing it anyway.
I get it, you want to be back out there doing whatever you do, but I'm not lying. Better to be patient than injure yourself and have to come back anyway.
[ Now that determined expression gives way to a scowl. The rules of physical therapy are in opposition to his training, and it seems counter-intuitive to him to not push his body. ]
Pushing myself should make my body stronger. [ The scowl softens after a moment, though his expression remains sullen. ] If I follow your rules, how long will it take to recover?
Yeah, well, despite what your personal trainer tells you, pushing yourself beyond your limits is never a good idea. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. Maybe you should listen to it.
[he sighs. Ren is not going to like this] A month, maybe more if you keep being an idiot.

[ Another month. His disappointment is palpable. ]
A month. And then, if all is well, I can return to the field? [ Because HE WILL BE BACK IN EXACTLY ONE MONTH FOR A FOLLOW UP, IN THAT CASE. ]

[he shrugs] We'll see. I'll put you in for a check-up, anyway. Keep doing the physical therapy exercises in the meantime.
