Feel like a brand new person
who: Thor and Valkyrie + Thor and his close CR
what: Thor mourns for Sif and Bryn, drinks to forget.
when: Toward the end of February.
where: Past the wall, in the jungle. Home.
warnings: drinking, swearing, maybe NSFW, who knows?
[Closed to Valkyrie.]
[Thor sends Val a message to hit the jungle past the wall just a few days after Sif leaves. Somewhere in the middle of organising a tour into the wild to go hunting, Bryn gets a canister and everything changes. The portal aligns, she makes a choice and she leaves.
For a few days, Thor is difficult to reach, but out of the blue he pushes again to make the trip out to the jungle.
The hunt is just as distracting as he hopes it will be, and Valkyrie is good company. Good, effective company. They drag their kill to a secluded area, and by night fall they have a fire stoked with a dead beast roasting over the top of it. Of course they have drinks, and their weapons life beside them in case the fire attracts any unwanted attention.
Thor takes a long swig of his drink, glancing toward Val curiously.]
Did you ever get lonely? On Sakaar, I mean.
[Wildcard for CR.]
[Thor is unusually quiet lately, he's not getting out much and he's not reaching out. He won't turn away guests, even if he looks bedraggled and his house is a mess.]

But then he's back, pushing for the trip again, and Val figures he must really need the distraction, so she agrees. And it's nice, just the two of them tracking down their kill. They don't have to talk much about anything other than tactic and sport.
Settled down by the fire, though, is a different story. Val brings along a couple of bottles of Asgardian mead she'd nicked from Loki's stash, and she's glad for them just as much as she's glad for the sword at her side.
Her first reaction is to snort.]
No.
[And then she pauses, her shoulders relax, and she rolls her eyes.]
—Sometimes. A little. Having a lapful of pretty girl is fine and all, but nobody there really...got me.

Plus her sadness is a good distraction from his own.]
I don't think anyone there got anything. [Thor replies, dryly.]
Do you feel like people here "get you"?

[They're all idiots??? How did she survive in that place for so long where everyone is a fucking idiot.
She shrugs one shoulder, takes a swig off her mead.]</small. Yeah. More than on Sakaar, anyway. There's a lot more people like us, here. People that're like. Sad and miss home and care about more than money and watching people beat up on each other.

That's true. There's a lot of people like us. [Most of their friends seem pretty like-minded, on grand adventures.] People who are all probably looking to go back home.
[Thor shrugs.] I don't blame them.

[Thor shrugs.] Which I suppose is the point of this place. I mean, we can't say our situation isn't a little dire. It's just.. [Vague gestures..] Fixable. Right?

[She stares thoughtfully into the fire for a long moment, then down at her lap, swishing the mead around in its bottle.]
Feels kind of unfair that there are other universes or whatever where Asgard is just fine.
