[ He's glad to see her smile, it helps ease the vice of tension in his chest. Slowly, slowly, getting back down to 'normal'... ]

I, well. [ He sounds groggy now and he clears his throat. ] I was alone and it was too quiet and everything just kind of... hit me at once. All the things we've been through here. Sometimes when I get overwhelmed I kind of just... leave. For a while.

[ Genji's words are continued cause for concern, but before Hana does anything else, she pulls her hand away from Genji and shuts the faucet off first. Then both hands rest on Genji's shoulder and she says, ]

There's been a lot, huh?

[ It occurs to Hana, now, that whenever things happen that they have to 'go through' it's usually Hana seeking Genji out for support. When they shared memories, when ever Hana was feeling low... just in general. And it occurs to her, too, that Genji has never asked for the same in return...

Has he been keeping everything up inside this whole time? Helping everyone else without letting himself be helped...? ]

Do you want to talk about it? What do you need? I'm back now, so you can relax! Do you want to sit on the couch and eat ice cream together?

[ That gets a tired smile. ]

There definitely has.

[ The hands on his shoulders continue to ground him more, and he's feeling better by the second. Genji chuckles a little and nods. ]

Ice cream sounds perfect. [ He rubs at an eye with the heel of his hand. ] And talking would help. This kind of thing I've dealt with since I got this body, it just hasn't happened in a while. I think I was trying too hard to be my master instead of his pupil.

[ She gives his shoulders one last, decisive squeeze when he agrees to her suggestion, and with a smile she nods. ]

Great! You go and sit down on the couch with Pacchan and I'll bring the ice cream! Then we'll have a bonding session. Okay?

[ Still smiling, he nods. ] I shall eagerly follow your orders, ma'am.

[ He ruffles her hair a little before looking to Pacchan, who wags her tail, and starts to head over to the couch. Genji stops at the plant he'd been trying to tend to, brushing his fingers over some dead leaves. Ah, well, he'll do better going forward. It leaves his mind as he goes to sit down.

He pulls his legs up and lets Pacchan jump onto his lap and he gives her scratches, speaking gently to her. ]

I'm sorry if I worried you, my friend. I hope you had enough food while I was out of it.

[ Pacchan answers by licking his face. ]

[ It doesn't take Hana long to join them in the living room, two bowls of ice cream with scoops of both Genji's and Hana's favorite flavors of ice cream in hand. She sets his bowl down on the coffee table in front of him, seeing that he's a bit preoccupied with petting Pacchan, then takes her seat next to him. ]

So, before any of that... I'm sorry, Genji. I guess I get too caught up in my own feelings a lot and always ask for your help, but I forget to ask you how you're doing.

[ He gives her a tired smile after she puts it down. ] Thank you.

[ Pacchan wiggles and gets up, settling herself in between both of them on the couch with a huff. Genji pats her on the head before reaching over to pick up his bowl, shaking his head slightly. ]

You don't have anything to apologize for, Hana. I have only ever wanted to help and be there for you and I am glad to do it. [ He takes a bite, letting it melt in his mouth for a moment before he continues. The cold is another good grounding thing for him. ] I just was not as self aware as I should have been. Rather silly, for it being something I pride myself on.

[ He chuckles and it actually sounds genuine and not forced. ] I guess I will have to think of this as a learning experience.

[ Her brow furrows even as she takes a bite of her own ice cream, not entirely satisfied with his answer. To her, it really is something to apologize for - she'd been unaware of any difficulties Genji was facing, too absorbed in herself to notice. That's not being a good friend. She hums thoughtfully, trying to think of the best way to keep the conversation going. She doesn't want Genji to have to bear it all by himself, even though she knows that he can, and has. ]

What's been bothering you...?

[ She turns her head to look at him directly. ]

—Gladdy leaving? Or— is Dodger giving you trouble again?

[ He takes a few more bites of ice cream. Hana's friendship has come to mean so much to him and he knows how concerned she must be for him. ]

I am sad about Gladio leaving, of course. And Dodger is always a pest. [ He stirs the ice cream a moment. ] It wasn't anything specific, honestly. I just realized that it was the first time since I came here that I was alone.

[ He takes another bite, letting it melt in his mouth with a thoughtful look on his face. ]

I forgot how cacophonous being alone could be. It caught me off guard.

[ She frowns, then, lips almost forming a pout. In a way, that's almost more difficult, for her not to have something more concrete to pin Genji's blues on. It's always easier to blame something - or someone specifically.

But being alone, that being his problem...

Should they try and get another roommate?

The thought furrows Hana's brow even more. No, they can't. Gladio had a place in both of their hearts that simply getting another roommate would never fill now that he's left. Besides - she remembers him complaining about his lack of personal space. And the way he always used her products...

Hana shakes her head. ]

I guess it can get pretty quiet around here now, huh...? What about Shigeru? I thought you guys would spend more time together while I was away.

[ oh they did, Hana, don't worry. ]
