With the prospect of more power in the near future, the Government of Riverview is looking for multiple teams of people to take a survey of the wall surrounding the Abandoned City and note all structural damage and areas where the integrity of the wall is compromised. The objective is to note the location and nature of any structural damage or interference with the tech components (laser emitters, etc.) that is compromising the integrity of the outer wall.
The team assembled by Jim Kirk will head out on the shuttle, making the trip at least far quicker, although long stretches of the wall are done by foot, in smaller groups or pairs. No one is advised to be out there on their own. Everyone will be given a handheld scanning device to study the wall, and a device similar to a tablet where they can store all the data, complete with detailed instructions on how to use both. The shuttle will be available to pick people up and drop them off at different points of the wall as needed, to try and make the trip as quick as possible.
[ ooc: this will work as a mingle log, so everyone is free to write up their own top levels and/or tag around as much as they like. ]

His eyes lift to the tiny sliver of sky above them as the rain starts, droplets striking off his face and neck. Cool against his skin. Washing the blood away.
He closes his eyes for just a moment. Are you still with me?
"Huh? Yeah." He shakes his head, trying to remember what it was Jim just said. Their options. John knows the call he should make. Jim needs to go back to the group. Beverley aside? They're going to need shelter, and fast.
He'll be slower dragging John along. The risk of slipping about a thousand times more likely with the weight of another man on his back. Jim isn't in great shape, either. He hit his head. They both need medical attention.
If one of them is getting out of here, it should be Jim. John's a harder case. Basic triage.
He takes a deep breath, shifting back against the rock. Making himself comfortable.
"You go on without me, I'll wait here." Is what John says out loud.
Don't leave me alone. Is what he doesn't.

That's the logical side of Jim talking. The corner of his mind that sounds suspiciously like a pointy-eared first officer he hasn't seen in a long time. But then his emotions take the best of him, and he's picturing John sitting here in the dark, all by himself. His breathing becoming more shallow and erratic. His eyes closing and then not opening again.
He imagines coming back to the cave and finding John collapsed across the floor, near death or worse yet— dead. Something tightens in his chest, like claws sinking into his heart. He can't leave John here, no matter the odds.
"Come on," he says, voice cracking. Making sure he's gotten their weapons and whatever few supplies they had on them, he lifts John's weight off the ground, picking him up. He's definitely going to carry him out of here, arguing is pointless.

He wishes he had the strength to fight. He's too weak. Physically, mentally and emotionally. Jim's putting himself at risk for John's sake, and if John were a better man, he'd find some way to stop him.
John reaches up to drag his bloody fingers through Jim's hair, hand settling on the back of his neck.
"I would've left your ass behind." They both know it's bullshit, but John still has enough piss and vinegar in him to play at being tough. As good a sign as any that he's still alive, kicking, and isn't ready to give up just yet. Years ago, he'd accepted the fact he'd die alone, like a dog, but life changed. He changed. It's harder to kiss life goodbye when you've got something worth living for.
Like good friends, and a place to call home.
"Be careful. Wouldn't want to mess up what's left of that pretty face."
