With the prospect of more power in the near future, the Government of Riverview is looking for multiple teams of people to take a survey of the wall surrounding the Abandoned City and note all structural damage and areas where the integrity of the wall is compromised. The objective is to note the location and nature of any structural damage or interference with the tech components (laser emitters, etc.) that is compromising the integrity of the outer wall.

The team assembled by Jim Kirk will head out on the shuttle, making the trip at least far quicker, although long stretches of the wall are done by foot, in smaller groups or pairs. No one is advised to be out there on their own. Everyone will be given a handheld scanning device to study the wall, and a device similar to a tablet where they can store all the data, complete with detailed instructions on how to use both. The shuttle will be available to pick people up and drop them off at different points of the wall as needed, to try and make the trip as quick as possible.

For Hana, too, these missions to the areas that lay beyond the safety of the Quarantine's walls have become something to look forward to. They give her something of a purpose when she's so far removed from what she should be doing back home. Although she's a different sort for the Perimeter Guard, she's still a soldier.

Hana's fighting style in her mech focuses on balancing defense and offense. Being in an armored mech units mean that whenever the monsters rear up for a big attack, Hana tries to swoop in with her boosters to act like a literal body block for someone. Other times, she's using them to knock enemies around and scramble them about, and other times she's using the mech's cannons to dispense fusion ammunition into the big bad monsters.

Though, honestly, she's really impressed by how Jyn fights, enough to say in the middle of a scuffle: ]

Wow, you're really good at fighting!

[ bright pink is not the color of choice of more rebels -- although she has seen some wild hair in passing -- but she has fought alongside a seven foot sullen robot who enjoyed pointing out the odds of her death, so. like, roughly the same thing, right? sure.

usually, jyn shies away from actively fighting with someone else, but a. the mech is pretty huge and doesn't give her much of a choice when its pilot is blocking mashing teeth from mashing into jyn's very human flesh and b. it's kind of nice to have back up for the beasts to focus on so jyn can dart in mostly unnoticed and wreak havoc. ]

I know, [ jyn grunts out, using the swell of her momentum to power a backhanded strike with one of her truncheons, leaving a relatively small monster unconscious in the high grass. she doesn't really know what it is -- part giant ant like insect with slithery, bitey vine snakes for four legs, part... waggly goat tush.

also modesty is for the weak. jyn is really good, it's only natural hana notices. ]

[ Hana takes her role as a tank very seriously, whether it's fighting against destructive murder-bots at home, or crazy jungle creatures here, outside of the Quarantine. And judging from what of Jyn's fighting style that she's seen thus far, it works out - Hana can act as a big pink distraction for the toothy maws of the creatures they're fighting, and Jyn can act as the DPS. (Gamer talk. Hope that she doesn't say any of these mechanics out loud.)

That effortless confidence from Jyn, though, only serves to goad Hana on further, wanting to show off a bit herself, too. So she charges at one of the larger monsters, knocking it back with the force of the impact from her mech as she swings with one of the mech's arms so that the thing slams into a large tree trunk as Hana stops the thrust of her mech's boosters abruptly. At this close to mid range, her fusion cannons are the most effective, and the plasma effectively decimates the big bad monster. ]

Where'd you learn to fight like that?

War.

[ lmao so blunt and at the same time it comes out so easy and blasé. she's not jaded, that's just how it was for... the majority of her life. with the big fella basically mush on the ground, jyn pauses to catch her breath, putting her hands on her knees. her truncheons stay in her grip though so she's not totally off guard. ]

I was raised in the middle of one. You learn to adapt. [ and you know, she was adopted by a soldier. ]
