[ open ] you are boundless in beauty, with fright in your face
who: Loki + You
what: TDM + Monthly Prompts
when: The month of February
where: All over Riverview
warnings: Will add if ratings change
[ i. Crystal caves ]
[ Of course, the minute Loki heard about the crystal caves, he was there. But he picked a time late at night when visitors had trickled down to nothing and he couldn’t be interrupted. With a small knapsack, Loki collects a few shards and geodes of crystals, turning them over in his hands with a secret grin. He holds one or two up, reaching out with his magic and watching them glow with the faintest traces of glee. After a while, he tidies them up and rests his back against a large oddly cut prism as he watches the lights cast threads of colour over the ceiling.
Loki would have go home eventually. Back to his empty apartment. Every time he thought about it, he hated it more and more. When did being alone become so hard? His eyes droop slightly, letting the strange light-magic of the caves wash over him. ]
[ ii. Dream-sharing ]
[ Loki’s dreams are chaotic things by nature. To reflect his own, obviously. He’s had happy, vainful dreams. Draped in royal colours, amidst the crowds calling his name. Bowing, reveling in his presence. The king. Other times, the dreams are dark and cold, covered in the dust of hollow moons and the strangeness of monsters, alien fingers brushing against his temple. Cold, always cold. Loki manufactures the sensation for his dreams. This time, the dream is simple. Straightforward. There is a crater on the ground and in the center, stands Mjolnir. Loki merely stands beside it, his hands clenched at his sides.
He does not reach for it. ]
[ iii. Clearing the Air ]
[ Once the mist made contact, Loki fled. He has always been a mass of seething resentments and bottled up anger issues and the mist had conflated them in his mind, making him see red everywhere. And Loki, who has quite the temper already could also foresee the danger of being in a city full of people when all he wanted to do was lash out at everyone closest to him. Minor infractions felt like grievous wounds and well . . . Loki generally treated those with a reverence that was probably bad for his mental health to begin with.
( they’re not all imagined slights, they’re not, they’re not, they’re not )
So he finds himself a fair distance away from Riverview, closer to the Abandoned City. Empty. Alone. And he sends out a jet of magic towards the trees, watching them crunch and collapse, splinters flying everywhere. This would be easier, better with someone to fight against, to expend that kind of energy, but the danger of losing control was too great. Pursing his lips, he sends another wave, watching it rip apart more of the forest when he hears approaching footsteps. The red haze fills his gaze. ]
You had best leave. Promptly.
[ v. Wildcard ]
[ Loki can be found at Gramarye, checking out the various stalls for the festival and even sitting down besides a bonfire, deep in thought. If you have a scenario in mind, you’re welcome to PM me or ping me at

You are a god, you've claimed as much.
[He makes a motion, as though indicating his point.]
But did you create the universe?
no subject
[ Loki lacks the ability and the interest. ]
Why would a God do such a thing?
no subject
[He pauses for a moment.]
Out of loneliness, I assume...or boredom. Possibly both.
no subject
[ At least, that much he knew from the newer religions on Midgard. ]
At least no gods that I know of.
no subject
Perhaps, though it is the belief of Andrastians in my own world that the Maker created all from nothing, but turned away from us when our arrogance proved too great.
no subject
I suppose that makes sense for other realities. Gods may have a hand in those. I cannot say it did in mine.
no subject
[And he's genuinely curious.]
Is it not possible some all-dominating force in the universe set everything in motion and then, disgusted with the lot of you, vacated the premises eons ago? How would you know? From whence did you come? And for what purpose? Have you never wondered?
no subject
We were there at the beginning. And we have our own stories to that. Though how many of those are true or not is difficult to say when you are one of the first.
no subject
[ Look, Loki. It's hard for him to fathom just talking to an immortal god, okay? Maybe a demi-god? Sure. ]
What was the beginning like, before there was light in the void?
no subject
[ Loki has touched the fringes of the void. Had fallen into it. He had lost meaning in time and space. He had been immutable. He had been insubstantial. It left a scar across his mind. ]
no subject
[ It's not accusatory, the question. He's simply curious. ]
no subject
My father was never big on sharing.
no subject
What a coincidence. Neither was mine. And now he's dead.
no subject
Mine passed away as well recently.
no subject
[ Not that he's surprised. They've somewhat proven that point back home, as well. ]
Was yours equal parts liberating and shackling as well?
no subject
[ Loki has "died" a couple of times. ]
He ruled the stars and the realms below. He could see everything from his seat and rend galaxies apart. Liberating is not the word I'd use for the All-Father. But he was not . . . [ Loki trails off. It is always a bit strange to recall him now. A father that loved and denounced him. ]
I suppose he was not terrible.
no subject
[ Dorian was rather familiar with the tumultuous emotions that seemed to be effecting Loki, and he nodded. ]
It's complicated, I understand. He was still your father, regardless, and to spite all your disagreements, having one is better than not. I was everything my father had wanted, save in one thing, and that one was enough to damn the rest. I still haven't forgiven him, but he was still my father.
no subject
[ It slips out before Loki purses his lips tightly. Fatherhood is a complicated topic. And in a way, Loki killed both his fathers. It's not something he's proud of by any means. Looking back at it now, he wonders if Laufey ever knew. Ever realized. ]
I was a spoils of war. I owed him my life, my gratitude for my ongoing existence.
no subject
[ And he isn't one to pry, but... ]
And should you like to tell it, I would suggest it happen with quite a bit more wine and less work.
no subject
[ His lips twitch faintly. ]
Perhaps someday.
no subject
The invitation is offered without an expiry date. Date it as you will.
[ He looks about the place, though, then to his book, which he closes. ]
And I thank you for your demonstration. It gives me a place to begin.
no subject
You're welcome.
[ Strangely enough, he means it. The sense of sharing his magic felt . . . good even. Not a feeling Loki is used to. ]
no subject
He inclines his head one last time, heading toward the door. ]
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few pretend fires to attempt. Good day.
