A: Out and about (OTA)
By now, Gyda had most of the lay of the place memorized, but that didn't make trips out any less enjoyable. With the allowance provided for her and survival not being as vital as it was back home, she could afford the occasional luxurgy or shopping trip-or just 'window browsing' as it was called.

Her favorite shop, thus far was the comic and game shops. The people there were friendly and she enjoyed finding about this or that comic and learning about various games. If she could, she'd see if there was a series or book that was 'updated'.

B: Training center (OTA):
Going to the training center wasn't as overwhelming as it was in the past. Her training with Ivar could only go so far, and he insisted on her training without him just as much. She was better than she was from the start, but, it was humbling to see so many who clearly had more years and experience than her-though it wen't without saying.

She took hold of her the training sword at her side (the ax was strapped to her back) before going to one of the moving targets.

C: Farmhouse (family; visitors):
Gyda wondered if the reading and writing might be easier some place other than home. Her teacher usually had their lessons in the library, but if it was crowded or easier, they mostly took place in home. She enjoyed reading when she could, but the actual writing and and spelling on her own was trickier and more frustrating.

She was seated at the table in the living room. Her math assignment was already done (that work being the easiest for her), but now she was on spelling and 'sentence correction'. She stared at the pages, trying to figure what was correct and what she 'needed' to correct. As well as having the will power to actually finish the work at all.

While keeping his skill with knife-throwing in shape, Billy noticed the girl almost immediately. She seemed so out of place to him because of how young she looked; she was younger than Billy was when he first used a knife in combat, and the ax strapped to her back only raised more questions. He couldn't help but stare for a moment before returning his attention to his own targets. The knives find their way to various vital points of the humanoid effigies.

When there's a break, Billy calls out to her from across the room, "You're the youngest person I've seen in here so far." There's a hint of admiration in his voice.

"I can't say I blame him. It's a good thing for people of all ages to know how to defend themselves," he said. However, he doesn't want to sound like he's patronizing her, which is why he refrains from bending down to speak with her. His eyes fill with intrigue as she takes the knife into her hand.

"How good are you with that?" he asks, pointing at the knife.

He liked the confidence in her answer and watched as she took aim and threw the blade. He nodded his head in approval, pleasantly surprised.

"Believe me when I say, you just put a bunch of grown men to shame." he remarked, smiling at her. "Before coming here, I tried to teach some of them how to use knives, but they all walked away without even trying." He chuckled and shook his head.

"You'll be treating knives like an extension of your hands in no time if you keep this up."

Honestly, he was kind of pleased to be able to talk about knives since arriving in the Quarantine. It wasn't like many people used them as their main weapon back home, after all.
