Player Plot: Paint Ball Battle

The Game

It’s a chilly morning when the competitors gather in the jungle for the competition, there are still thin layers of ice and snow on the rocks and leaves and the air is cool and crisp. All competitors are outfitted with a full set of equipment, including a paintball gun, a battle pack (a set of 5 colours, 10 of each colour except for three, glittery pods), protective eyewear, a face mask (in a variety of colours and patterns) and camouflage clothing.

Players are transported in groups (but not teams) of five into different sections of the jungle. The Perimeter guards monitor the outskirts and the boundaries are marked with flags.

Each team is told the general rules of play, which are as follows:

You are given a set of 5 colours, 10 of each and 3 glitter bombs

Each colour has a different effect on its target, summed up with one word.

You need to be hit with 3 different colours or one glitter bomb to be “killed”

Use glitter bombs wisely, you only get three.

Each coloured pod has a word written on it, in its designated colour. The colours, words and effects are as follows:

Red- “Over-confidence”
Being hit with red makes you irrational, your decisions are stupid and poorly thought out. This makes you an easy target.

Blue- “Rhythm”
You are compelled to sing and dance. Every step you take is jazzy, you can’t stop trying to move to the music in your mind. You’re compelled to rhyme or sing every thought you have, to a maddening degree.

Purple- “Flirtatious”
You are now feeling flirtatious. Your mind is off the prize and on your teammates and enemies. They become your focus instead.

Pink- “Ditzy”
You’re feeling distracted. Your focus is shot and you can’t stop spacing out. Your imagination is running wild and you see things out of the corner of your eye. You also can’t stop yourself from chattering away.

Glitter:
Glitter’s effects are long term. The glitter stays on you for weeks after, in your hair and faintly sparkling on your skin. It’s also an instant out, meaning you must leave the game once you’ve been hit with one.

The winner is the one who makes it out without being hit by three different colours or a glitter bomb.

The Hot Springs

After the war is over, paintballers can retreat to the hot springs. For characters over 18, there are washrooms set up before you enter, there are two segregated by gender (but not heavily monitored either way), with a third for those who don’t identify as either gender or for those who don’t care who they see or who sees them naked.

Assisting one another in a scrub down is encouraged, since there will be paint where your arms can’t reach. There are stools to sit on with scrubbing brushes, clothes and a wide variety of delicious smelling soaps to help wipe away the paint.

The glitter will not come off.

Once you’re clean, you’re welcome to soak in the warm waters of the spring. There is a nude spring (over 18s only) and a clothed spring for younger characters. There are soft, fuzzy bathrobes and towels for modesty outside of the spring.

The Lounge

There is a buffet of delicious, wintery foods to warm you up. Hot soups, curry, roasted meats and vegetables as well as finger foods such as cold meats and cheeses, crackers and breads. Fresh fruits, steamed and fresh vegetables and a variety of dips. On the dessert table there are mini pies, tarts and cakes to choose from for dessert.

In the lounge is a hot chocolate bar with a variety of different chocolates, marshmallows, creams, sprinkles and alcohols for the adults who need an extra kick.

The tables are set indoors, in a small but cozy lodge. There is a large fire that warms the room well and dozens of couches, lazy boys, hammocks and beanbags to settle into. The room is filled with lanterns and candles and it’s the perfect time to regale one another with stories of victory and tragedy from the war.

The lounge is open from the beginning of the game, large TV screens will play shots of the game with commentary from a number of people. Those who are unwilling or uninterested in participating can stay in the lounge as long as they like. This means that they can enjoy the thrill of the competition from the comfort of a nice, warm chair.

I) game

[who doesn't love a friendly competition, right? well, in Osomatsu's case, there is nothing friendly about competition. he's always competing with his brothers in some way, or another. it's never friendly. he's dead-set on winning those prizes, and he's out for blood.

he's making his way along the perimeter of where he's been stationed, hiding behind bushes and trees. he's pretty sneaky, but he's also over-confident, even without being blasted with red paint. he will probably make for an easy target]

II) hot springs

[Osomatsu's supreme loss has not hit him yet. he's a little sore, but he's also excited. that was mostly fun, except for the end! he really liked playing with a bunch of other people. it made him feel like... like he was part of a team. and it was so good to relax and let go.

now he's ready to get all clean! he enters the washroom, looking for an empty place to sit, or for a partner to help him get clean.

then you may find him soaking in the hot springs, leaning back against the rocks and sighing peacefully. he hasn't been to an onsen in ages, and this is really nice, makes him think of home]

III) lounge

[Osomatsu is moping like you would not believe. he completely lost this game, hit with a glitter bomb! now he looks like Karamatsu. what a pain in the ass. he huffs as he piles marshmallows, whipped cream, and alcohol into his hot chocolate. he is the sorest loser, and he won't make conversation unless you come to him]

lovebakery! the option is open to anyone! likewise, if you want Osomatsu to hit you with a certain color/glitter, i would love that! it'd give him a boost of confidence (and thus make him an easier target)]

[You are in good company, Oso. Lyle also got hit with a glitter bomb so he's just as sparkly now too. This was a state he did not like.

But he wandered over to the hot chocolate bar, spotting a familiar face also currently glittery. He paused next to Osomatsu, watching everything he was putting in his hot chocolate before he spoke]

That's a definitely a loaded hot chocolate if I've seen one.

[Osomatsu jumps a bit, then leans back, dramatically holding out one hand while the other covers his face]

Ah! Don't look at me! I've completely shamed the Matsuno name! [he melts to the floor, lying down with his cheek against the wood] I don't deserve to live anymore!

[okay, he's just playing around now]

[Lyle just watched as Osomatsu overreacted, snickering as he did. The sinking to the floor was a nice touch. It was something he'd want to do at some point if he could get away with it. Neil might find it amusing. Tieria would roll his eyes at him]

Then we have both shamed our respective names. I'm a sniper and I got "killed" by my own glitter bomb.

[Lyle completely failed there]

[that... actually makes Osomatsu look up from his dramatic fall]

Eh? How'd you manage that?

Oh, it was amazing. I was trying to take out this other player and she could apparently form barriers and threw them back at me so I got hit.

[And now... because he can't help it, he leaned against any empty portion of the table]

I have failed.

[Osomatsu pops up to his feet, going over to pat Lyle's arm comfortingly]

Man, that's rough. You really did fail, big-time.

[Lyle started laughing when Osomatsu did that. He'd really been joking about that, but it was also serious at the same]

I didn't know someone could fail that hard, but apparently they can.

All the more reason to get drunk! [he goes back to his mug that he'd set down on the table before making his dramatic fall] Might as well live it up as losers.

You do make a good point. Why not.

[Lyle straightened up, perusing the hot chocolate bar]

So what options do they have for helping to forget we completely bombed?

They have a lot. Looks like... Coffee liqueur, peppermint schnapps, marshmallow vodka, even tequila. [Osomatsu hums, adding more sprinkles to his cup] I used the vodka, myself.

[Lyle hums for a moment as he looks over the options before reaching out for one of them]

Peppermint schnapps... because its fun to say "schnapps".

[And he hasn't even had anything to drink yet. But Lyle gets himself a mug of hot chocolate and pours some of the schnapps in it. A little bit of whipped cream and some sprinkles and he's good to go... for now]

[Osomatsu snorts at Lyle's reasoning. but... it's true. it really is fun to say "schnapps!" kind of hard for a Japanese speaker, but that's fine. he does his best.

once they have their beverages, they find a place to sit down and drink]

Did you hit anyone, before you got yourself?

[It's the perfect reasoning, at least according to Lyle.

Lyle did follow Osomatsu over, sitting down on the couch next to him before taking a sip of his hot chocolate]

I did get a few people before I got killed. You? Did you hit anyone?

[Osomatsu makes a face]

Naaah... [then he drinks. oh, hey... this is really yummy! another sip before he answers] I didn't get very far at all. I wasn't sneaky enough.

Ah well, did you have fun at least?

[Since that was the important part of this beyond whether they had won or not.

He took another drink of his drink. For just kind of throwing it together, it was pretty good]

[no, Lyle, the important part is winning! always!]

Yeah, I did. It was a huge group and, like... I've never been part of something that big before. It was kinda nice...

You haven't? Really? I guess we'll have to see if here are more events like this one. Try and do something in group.

[Lyle took another sip his hot chocolate]

Maybe something together.

[hm. Osomatsu also sips at his cup. this is new, people other than his family wanting to spend time with him, hang out with him. he still doesn't have many friends but...]

Yeah? This place seems to be good about making events for two people.

Yeah it does. Heck, we could have done this game together. The only down side is if there could only be one winner, eventually we'd have to try and shoot each other, which wouldn't be all that fun.

[Lyle's used to being the loner in his family. He prefers to spend time with people and those who don't know his brother (or didn't) are easier for him]

It might be fun! Maybe if there were two prizes. [he downs more of his drink. it isn't as hot now, so he can drink it faster]

Yeah, two prizes. Definitely we'd have to team up then. Because then there wouldn't be a problem with two winners.

[Lyle's definitely drinking his faster now too]

[Osomatsu looks into his mug once it’s empty. maybe he should get more]

Team up, huh? No one’s ever wanted to be on a team with me. [then he looks up at Lyle] I might hold you back, yanno. I’m not the most athletic dude out there.

[Lyle leaned back on the couch he was sitting on]

So? I'm not exactly the athletic type either. I can handle a gun. Doesn't mean I can play rugby. I prefer living, thank you very much.

Hell, yeah! Here's to living! [he clinks his empty mug against Lyle's] Ain't no fun if you're dead.
