January monthly log!
who: Ivar and others. Maybe even you?
what: Monthly log
when: All throughout January
where: Abandoned City, the park, all over
warnings: A fight, possible baby mama drama, maybe some body horror with morphing?
A. First rule of Fight Club - For Damian and later on Bucky
Considering how their last fight had gone, even if Damian didn't remember, Ivar was eager to see who would win in this second one. He headed out into the Abandoned City towards the biggest waterfall. It was best not to do this in the city, for it was a certainty that someone would try to stop the two of them if they knew what they were up to. This might have been the wiser course of action, for there was no telling how carried away they were likely to get during this.
Ivar was the first to arrive and he waited, taking out his axe, sharpening it on a whetting stone as he waited for the young assassin to arrive.
B. The blue box - For Marco
It's been several weeks since Ivar broke his leg badly and Marco had to rescue him in gorilla form. While his leg is now healed up thanks to the ministrations of Shigeru, such a traumatic experience is not easily forgotten. They haven't really spoken much of it since then, but observant as Ivar is, he's noticed that Marco seems to have something on his mind.
Rather than press him, he waits for Marco to find the right moment to talk to him. It appears to come when they're relaxing on the couch together, Ivar with his head in Marco's lap and his eyes closed, the TV on for background noise. Marco says something that he doesn't quite catch, so Ivar opens up his eyes and looks up. "Hmmm? What did you say?"
C. Co-parenting - For Letha
Dealing with Letha was rather like strategizing for a war. He kept trying to read her and figure out how to stay one step ahead. Right now, they were in an uneasy truce, both of them remaining civil for the sake of Winter. Ivar wanted to believe that she had changed and actively wanted to be a part of her daughter's life again, but the cynical side of him wondered how long it would last.
The reunion hadn't been smooth. As soon as she picked up Winter, the familiar glow surrounded the baby, and Letha had nearly fainted from stubbornly insisting she kept wanting to hold onto her. Ivar wasn't sure how much babies could remember, but it was obvious he was going to need to deal with this problem of Winter draining her mother's life force sooner rather than later.
The best thing for her would be to associate Letha with positive feelings, love and comfort, the way she did with Ivar. So right now, they were out in the backyard of Letha's house. Winter had on a cute little smock dress as she crawled around the backyard while her parents watched her.
"She's gotten so big," Ivar remarked. He was hoping she wouldn't drain the life out of any of the plants or bugs in the backyard, but if she did, well, at least it wasn't a person.
D. What kind of Pokemon are you? - OTA
With all that had been going on lately, Ivar hadn't had the chance to really get his Pokemon out and about. It made him feel a little guilty. Pets were not to be neglected no matter what form they came in. So he took the three of them out to a nearby park and released them from their Pokeballs so that they could get some exercise.
Skinfaxi and Hrimfaxi galloped around for a bit before settling down to graze. It was amazing how his Ponyta had grown from a tiny foal all the way to a full-grown stallion big enough to ride. Sprig, on the other hand, remained close to Ivar, occasionally nudging him in hopes of getting a treat. He was a gluttonous little thing.
If he saw anyone, he would wave them over, proud to show off his trio of pocket monsters.
E. Morphing - OTA (Set at some point after the thread with Marco)
Anyone walking around the city would notice a certain oddity now roaming the streets. There were different animals wandering around. Some were ones from earth and others were obviously alien in nature. Most of the time, they could be found tearing around at top speeds, or if they had wings, awkwardly swooping down low to land nearby people. It was, of course, Ivar testing out his new powers.
If he noticed anyone that he knew, he was likely going to approach them, trying to look as cute as possible. He wasn't going to be revealing who he was just yet. He wanted to see what advantages there were when people just thought a dumb animal was around them, not a Viking who was far too sneaky for his own good.
This will only end well.

I didn't know Marco had a way to do it.
[Better than a spell that couldn't revert him back to his human form. And at least with Marco around, Ivar would have a tutor to help him learn how to control his new power. She doesn't know how to feel about this, but...if he's happy, what can she do about it?
And...she can understand a little to what Ivar is feeling about this. Her anger diffuses.]
You're able to get around on your own.
[Without help or having people stare.]
I liked you as you were before. [As human, and like as in a friend.] Should I put you down now? I'm sure you have other places you want to wander about to.
no subject
[Ivar wasn't going to tell her the specifics of how it was done. Truthfully, he didn't understand how the Escafil device worked. It might as well have been some magic gifted from the gods.
He nods his furry head when she understands. Ivar has always felt limited by how much he could get his normal body to do. Here, there was none of that. He could walk and run without having to limp along or exhaust himself going a short distance.]
< I'm still myself. It's not like this is going to be a permanent change. > [Then she mentions possibly putting him down and he snuggles a little bit closer to her, quick to answer.] < No, no, this is fine. >
no subject
[She didn't need the specifics. She didn't want to learn the specifics. What she wanted to do was go back to grocery shopping to look for healthier meals for herself, Poe, and Finn, but now with Ivar in her arms...would it be bad if she dropped? No, no, she couldn't do that.]
I mean without powers, I still liked you as you. [So there was his compliment for the day. It didn't matter to Rey if someone had powers or not. That's not what made someone special. Having a good heart and being a good person were. So far, that's all Ivar has shown to be--for now. Time could change things.]
...You know, I don't think I'm allowed to bring in a cat into the store.
no subject
[He ducks his head in a movement that could almost be seen as being shy if it was done by a human being. His chest begins to rumble again with the start of a purr. It's nice to be this close to her even in cat form. Oh, if only she knew what really went on in Ivar's head, she might not think he was so good anymore.]
< Tell them I'm your comfort animal. >
[He'd heard that modern term before. Frankly, he thought it was weird someone would be weak enough to need an animal around them all the time, but hey, if the excuse worked for his purposes, it was a valid one.]
no subject
You're welcome.
[The words are murmured softly and it feels a bit weird to do this, but Rey starts to scratch his head, giving him the attention she gave him before realizing he wasn't really a cat. She's making sure to scratch by his cheeks, then down his neck and chest. The notion of calling him a comfort animal made her raise an eyebrow.]
An animal for comfort? No.
[That sounds ridiculous.]
Besides, I won't be able to do my shopping and hold you at the same time.
no subject
< I can just sit on your shoulder. >
[He's going to be making every excuse he can to keep himself around Rey for as long as possible. He doesn't want her to go. He feels something around her he doesn't feel with anyone else in the Quarantine. He's close to figuring out what that is, but not quite.]
no subject
Can you really balance on my shoulder?
[Or would he prefer to simply hang off of her? He could fall, could possibly scratch her, but she could take the pain. Still, this was all assuming she would even be allowed to bring him in as a cat! Or...maybe he could fit in the basket? No, she wouldn't do that...
Was he really going to make her delay her little trip?]
You know it wouldn't take me long to grab what I need. You would be waiting ten minutes, no more than that.
no subject
< Of course I can. Cats have a wonderful sense of balance. >
[It was all in the spine, tail, and ears. Combine the three of them and it made for a very graceful being. He had no doubt he could balance on Rey's shoulder if put to the test.]
no subject
[Forgive her if she doesn't sound totally convinced. Her interactions with cats has been very much limited. She did help find the mother to some stray kittens, and as much as Alec would want her to have a cat, she said no. She couldn't exactly have a pet, or be responsible enough to take care of it and deal with so many other things...]
You're being stubborn, you know that?
[But, Rey wasn't about to put him down. No, she actually gave into his (cute) demands and went back on her way to the store. It was a sight to see her holding a cat in her arms as she walked.]
no subject
[Is that a little cat smile on his muzzle? Why yes, yes it is. He looks very content as Rey carries him with her back to the store, still purring away like a little motor. Ivar seems to always get his way sooner or later. It's better than arguing with him because he will just continue being bullheaded until the other person just gives up.]
no subject
[Because he has other qualities about him that are just fine too. The fact that he's a caring and doting father. Or, that he is there willing to help her with training...or that he willing to help at all shows he's kind. More qualities that Rey could point out, but she needs to focus on her trip...and ignore the cute way he's purring up a storm.
When she walked into the store, no one really seemed to care. Rey started to pick up some fresh fruit that would be good for her and for Poe and Finn. Then came the veggies and other items. It was a bit difficult to carry Ivar and her basket, and put items in it, but she made it work.]
no subject
Ivar is content to be held as Rey makes her way through the store. He doesn't squirm, only occasionally moving so that she can keep a good grip on him. When they reach the checkout, he perches on the counter, finding delight in sitting on the moving belt with the other groceries. The cashier seems to find him charming rather than annoying. He turns to look at Rey as the belt moves him along.]
< See? Nothing to it. >
no subject
You're lucky no one had a problem with this. [She huffs softly, walking out of the store.]
Have you played with Winter in this form?
no subject
< Not yet. I wanted to really have a hold on the animal's instincts so there would be no chance of hurting her. >
[Fortunately, he'd been able to master those fairly quickly, the strength of his mind helping to overcome most of what the animal continuously wanted to do.]
no subject
Understandable. You seem to be doing well in this form. I would imagine someone would still need to watch over the two of you--just to make sure Winter doesn't pull on your tail or anything.
no subject
[He actually looks down as if to assure himself, yes, that fluffy appendage is his own and attached to him.]
no subject
[ Just to prove Ivar was indeed an animal at one point. Precious memories of Ivar being with his daughter. She adjusted her hold on him, making sure he was comfortable and held properly. She didn’t want to drop him. ]
You know, you won’t be this close to my chest next time. [ Because, well, he is very close to her chest and she wasn’t blind to why he would be purring. ]
no subject
< I think it's time for me to be going. >
[Smooth way to avoid talking about the fact he'd been curled up right against her chest. Very smooth.]
