who: otabek altin & yuri plisetsky
what: otabek and yuri talk on new years day.
when: january 1.
where: otabek & yuri's apartment.
warnings: dumb teenagers in love.
They had a good New Years Eve. Otabek loved waking up next to Yuri, and he loved spending his mornings, afternoon, and evenings with Yuri. Being with Yuri was a part of Otabek's every day, and he couldn't imagine it being any different now. The two had agreed to spend their New Years day inside. After they showered, Otabek put together a big breakfast for the two of them. Pancakes, eggs, and turkey bacon. He also put together some coffee for the both of them - making sure Yuri's was just how he wanted it to be. They had spent a chunk of the morning relaxing. Late moning, Otabek did a little bit of work at putting together a playlist for the next weekend. He also spent a little bit of time starting a remix and putting together some music.
Otabek's work got interrupted by two cats who had insisted on getting pet, so he stopped what he was doing and gave them the attention that they were wanting, and spent a little bit of time playing with the two of them. Later in the afternoon, he gathered up some blankets and pillows from the bedroom they shared, and set them down in front of the Christmas tree - they'd have to take it down soon, he mentally noted - but for now it'd be nice to spend time with the lights.
He turned down the lights in the living room, turned on the tree, and put out the pillows and blankets. He was dressed comfortably. Just wearing his sweatpants relaxed and hanging around his hips. No shirt, no socks. Just sweatpants and comfort.
"Yura," he said. "Do you want to cuddle under the tree?"
He was sure the answer would be yes, though, so he pulled the top blanket to the side so that they could crawl in under there together.

When Yuri had awoken that morning, he had felt sore, and yet- also renewed, somehow. Everything seemed brighter, more promising. It was wonderful. Rolling over to look at Otabek, Yuri had found himself lost in just watching the other's features in sleep, how soft and young the other looked. How relaxed, in a way that he never really was during waking hours. He had traced the other's jaw line softly with his thumb, his insides feeling like jelly, unable to help but to smile. Otabek was just so handsome, and kind, and everything Yuri had never knew he'd wanted; that he had been missing.
"I love you," he had whispered, leaning forward and pressing his lips to the other's eyebrow, before snuggling in against the other's chest, and closing his eyes. It seemed right to sleep in a little longer than usual this morning, and so Yuri dozed- let them both doze. They had showered together, and then after breakfast Yuri had set to changing the sheets on their bed, bundling them up and throwing them in the corner before crawling into the fresh linens, breathing in deep and snuggling into Otabek's pillow. Despite the fresh case, it still smelled like the other- and, honestly... also just a little bit like him, his shampoo. It made something in Yuri's stomach flutter in pleasure to know that they lingered together like this, in this way too. Potya hopped up onto the bed with him, meowing insistently, before curling up on Yuri's chest once he had rolled over to allow her space. Running his fingers through the softness of her fur, with her purring heavily against his chest he had falling back into a meditative, almost dozing state, fingers working lazily through Potya's fur. He listened vaguely to the sounds of the other through the rest of the apartment, the squeak of his computer chair as he worked on another mix. Probably with his headphones on, Yuri noted- as he couldn't hear any beats lilting through the home. Maybe for the best; EDM wasn't exactly the best for morning relaxations.
When Otabek came in to steal the blankets and pillows Yuri had raised an eyebrow at the other, lips thinning, but he hadn't protested- rolling onto his side, disturbing Potya with a yowl. But she settled again, bumping her forehead against Yuri's chin, making him smile and curl around her. That was how Otabek found him, on their bed with his cat, one of Otabek's oversized sweaters hanging over his frame, his legs bare and his feet covered in a pair of warm fuzzy slipper socks.
"I dunno, Potya and I are kind of having a moment here," he replied, teasing, smiling as he kissed his cat on the head, before rolling onto his back and starting to sit up, grinning. "She might take offense you know." But it was obvious he was already starting to move to join the other. Cuddling underneath the tree- that sounded just... divine.

It meant that he could get through his work much more quickly. So this meant that their afternoon and evening would be open. He considered the ways they could spend it together, and that was how he had decided to cuddle under the light of the tree.
The way he turned off all the lights there - the way the room was lit up by only the Christmas tree. It felt romantic. He wanted to stay there with Yuri, cuddle up. He wanted to maybe talk, maybe stay there in silence. Maybe their cats would join them, maybe not.
"I'm sure she'll understand, and she maybe will join us."
It didn't matter to Otabek. All that he cared was that he was getting to spend his time with the person he loved. When Yuri made the move to join him, Otabek pulled one of the blankets over the top of them. He would snuggle in close to Yuri, wrap his arms around him and hold onto him.
"By the way, you look great." He winked.

Huffing out a breath of laughter as he followed the other into the living room, Yuri couldn't stop the soft, fond expression that passed over his features as he took in the nest the other had built for them. Warm and comfortable in the soft glow of the Christmas tree. Definitely sappy- and god, Yuri wouldn't have admitted it to many, but... he definitely liked it.
"Maybe she will," he agreed, shifting to settle in against the other's side, rubbing his cheek along Otabek's shoulder softly, much like the actions of the cat they spoke of, a soft smile on Yuri's own face.
"Of course you'd say that, you always like me in your clothing," he teased, rubbing his elbow into the other's side for a moment before going lax, pliant against the other's side. Otabek was like a veritable space heater of his own making- and since Yuri always seemed to run cold... well, he definitely appreciated it. Was happy to leech the other's warmth, and use it as an excuse to snuggle.

"What can I say?" Otabek said. "I know what I like." Otabek tugged Yuri in close, one arm moving around his shoulders, as his hand found a spot on his hip, resting there. He cuddled up against him, sighing deeply. He was happy. He was in love.
Yuri had taken over his world, and Otabek was quite alright with that. He wouldn't have it any other way. When he was comfortable there with Yuri tucked against his side, under the blankets and the lights of the tree.
"I love you, Yura." He shifted it a little. "I can't imagine living without you, you know?" There was an implication there. "I want to have you like this for all of our lives."

"I'm really glad you know. It makes me feel... a lot more secure in what I like. Is that weird?" Yuri smiled a little wryly, before snuggling in against the other's shoulder, closing his eyes and tucking underneath the other's neck. Breathing in, Yuri let himself listen to the other's heartbeat, take in the familiar scent of the other's skin, the warmth of it against his own body. This... this was heaven; perfection in a way Yuri had never thought to achieve or hope for.
"I love you too, Beka," Yuri's voice was soft, tender in a way that he only ever allowed himself to be with Otabek. All of his harsh edges softened, blunted by the other's presence, and the comfort he felt in the other's arms. "That sounds like a dream come true. You, and me- forever. Not just here, but at home, too. Just... I never want to lose you. I can't imagine ever being this happy with anyone else," he admitted, a little shyly, but smiling too. Leaning up to place a soft and tender kiss against Otabek's jaw.

He moved his hand from resting on Yuri's hip, up his side and rested it on his cheek. "Not weird." Just sappy. And there was nothing wrong with that here, either. He didn't say it, though. He didn't feel like he needed to. This was what they shared.
Otabek's head tilted a little at the kiss. "I want it at home, too." But it would be harder, he knew. Harder living in different countries, different timezones, and he was already considering that he'd be willing to give up his home to be in Russia with Yuri. That wasn't a conversation for now, though.
"I mean. We can get married someday. I'd like that with you." It was really all that he wanted with Yuri, honestly. Eventually, at least.

Married? God. Otabek said it, and it was the first time Yuri had ever really.... considered it as a possibility. Then again, he'd never known anyone he cared about, loved as much as he did Otabek. So why would he have ever even wanted to think about it? But Otabek said it, and it just-
It felt right.
Like skating did, like his love for all things cat, like breathing air.
A lifetime with Otabek. Marriage. Calling him husband, instead of boyfriend.
Yuri couldn't even begin to articulate what that felt like, to him. How much he wanted it. How utterly complete the idea made him feel. It took his breath away; made him smile so hard his face hurt.
"Yeah. Otabek- yes. Someday. If you don't get sick of me, before then," and that was spoken in a very small voice. It was a very real fear Yuri possessed. After all... it wouldn't even have been the first time someone had just... discarded Yuri. He wouldn't have even blamed the other.

He brushed his knuckles over Yuri's cheek, after the other kissed his hand. Then he moved it to brush over the strands of Yuri's hair. He was exactly where he wanted to be. He closed his eyes, then leaned in, pressing a kiss to Yuri's forehead.
"I will never get sick of you." He couldn't imagine that it was possible. Yuri was a huge part of his life - his world. All he knew was was that he wanted Yuri to forever be in his world. To call him his boyfriend, then fiance, then husband. To have him in his life like that meant everything.
"Ever."
