[i: Around Quarantine; open to anyone]

[Bucky has chosen to eschew the communal housing gifted to him, as well as all the benefits that affords. Like food, shelter, and access to a shower. The last two aren't such a big deal, but he needs a lot of food to keep him going, the bastardised serum in his veins makes him burn through calories at a ridiculous rate.

Which is why he's ghosting through Quarantine on the look out for empty housing or possible a not very well attended street food stall, in order to snatch a hand out and take something. He can be found shoplifting in the street; or, if you'd prefer, breaking into your character's housing in search of food.]

[ii: Down a back alley somewhere; closed to Bucky Barnes]

[Ever since he saw that name on the network, his own name, Bucky has been in overdrive trying to figure out what's going on. It takes him a day or so to track down who owns the username, and then another day to just follow them around and try and figure out who they are. It's only when he catches the imposter out alone, whatever he might be doing, that he reveals himself by trying to drag the other man down an alleyway in an explosion of movement and bad decisions.]

[iii: Monster hunting; closed to Clark Kent]

[The perimeter is of interest to Bucky, partially because it means an escape from this town and partially because he knows that Stark is going to be making upgrades to it. It's why he's scouting around it today.

He's too focused on the possible security measures, trying to find surveillance equipment or defence mechanisms, that he has completely failed to notice the large monster shaped like a monstrous caterpillar creeping up behind him on silent feet.]

[He's strong, obviously experienced, but Bucky is ready for an attack and he has the serum-enhanced reflexes to help. His left hand swipes up and deflects the blade with the soft sound of metal on leather-covered metal.]

No, I won't.

[It's said with perfect surety, expression blank to counterpoint Ivar's smile.]

I'll hurt you, maybe worse, and I don't want to do that.

[Ivar definitely hadn't been expecting Bucky to be able to just bat away his knife like that. It definitely improves his estimations of this guy's abilities.]

Oh, you're good. Do that again!

[There's no fear in his attitude whatsoever. Rather, he's more like someone who's just seen a neat trick in a circus. He's already looking to pull out another knife he can throw.]

[He scowls down at Ivar in irritation rather than fear. He's seen men like this before, too eager to get into a fight, and he has no interest in engaging.]

No.

[Just no.]

You made your point, I made mine, you can't fight me. I'm leaving.

[And he's taking the food with him.]

[ooc: Sorry for the wait, I've been on holiday without internet for a few days.]

[Hmph. What a stick in the mud this stranger is. Really, a fight is good for everyone involved. Gets all the little things called emotions out. Ivar sighs, shifting himself. Bucky will have to go past him anyway.]

Fine. You can leave.

[Psh, like Ivar is really going to let Bucky leave that easily. When the man tries to leave, he's going to try and tackle his feet to draw him onto the ground. It's easier to fight someone when they're at his level.]

[Goddammit, Ivar!

Bucky can't move too far around him because of the size of the apartment, which means he has to go into arm's reach to get out. He's ready for an attack, but only because he's always ready for an attack now, and he's moving to defend himself as soon as his feet are tackled.

A knife appears in one hand and it slices towards Ivar, aiming at either one of his hands viciously and completely on instinct.]

[Sorry, Bucky. You just had the bad luck to end up talking to a vicious little shit of a Viking. This was bound to happen no matter what he did. Ivar's already pulled his second knife out of his vest and he uses it to deflect Bucky's own. Despite being disabled, he's fast when it comes using his weapons. Not super soldier speed, but surprising for just a normal sixteen year old warrior.]

[He's better than Bucky thought he would be, and that's his own fault for underestimating him because of his disability. Stupid, really, considering he's an amputee when it all comes down to it.

He's not going to make that same mistake again. He employs every advantage that the serum and his training have given him to attempt to wrench Ivar's arm behind his back. He's aiming to disarm him and pin him in one move.]

[That's one of the great advantages Ivar always uses. He's consistently underestimated by everyone around him in battle. But the moment he has the upper hand is soon lost as Bucky grabs a hold of his arm and twists it behind his back. Dang, this man was really good. He could just give up now. But that was never Ivar's style.

He throws his head back, trying to headbutt Bucky so that the grip on his arm will lessen. He's defiant to the end, this stubborn Viking prince.]

[The headbutt lands true and cracks at Bucky's nose, not quite breaking it but sending a cascade of blood down his chin anyway, but his grip doesn't lessen at all. In fact, it tightens. He's been taught to work through pain, to not let injuries keep him from fulfilling a mission objective, and so he just pushes more of his weight into pinning the man beneath him.]

Stop now.

[It's a quiet order rather than a request.]

You'll get hurt if you keep this up.

[Ivar is smart enough to know when he's out of his depth. He's been pinned down good and tight, with no way of being able to get Bucky off of him. He tries to move, but there's no way out he can see. Finally, his muscles sag in defeat, and his whole body goes still.]

Alright, alright. You win.

[He won't try to fight anymore once Bucky lessens his grip. He knows when he's been beaten.]

[He waits until the words come, even though the body language says defeat too, before he releases Ivar and stands up in one fluid motion.]

You fight well.

[Much better than he would have expected someone in his position to fight.]

But you need to learn to pick your battles.

So I keep being told.

[Not that he ever listens. Ivar's stubborn that way. All Vikings enjoy fighting. It's in their blood. Then he gets a bright idea, looking up at Bucky.]

Why not teach me? You're a good fighter.

[Clearly, he's learned nothing.]

I'm not going to teach you.

[Blunt and immediate, and ever so slightly incredulous.]

I don't teach.

[Ivar looks up at Bucky and shrugs broadly. He expected that answer and it won't deter him.]

My father always said to learn from the best. You beat me, so clearly, you're the best.

Maybe I am.

[He is the best, he knows he is, it's what they trained him for. But it doesn't mean he's going to teach someone else.]

Doesn't mean I'm going to teach you.

[And with that, he turns to head for the window and escape.]

[Ivar lets Bucky get up and head for the window without protest. Maybe he's refusing right now. But he won't forever. Ivar will wear him down.]

Wait. Before you go. What's your name? [He's earned that much at least.]

[Unfortunately for Ivar, Bucky doesn't agree with him. He can't even own his own name in his head yet, he's not giving it out to other people.

So he just glances back in silence, before he climbs out of the window and disappears.]
