survival of the fittest

who: Bucky and anyone!
what: Bucky is a big old thief, tracks down his name twin, and also goes monster fighting with Clark
when: Anytime between March 8th and March 12th
where: Around Quarantine
warnings: Probably violence

[i: Around Quarantine; open to anyone]

[Bucky has chosen to eschew the communal housing gifted to him, as well as all the benefits that affords. Like food, shelter, and access to a shower. The last two aren't such a big deal, but he needs a lot of food to keep him going, the bastardised serum in his veins makes him burn through calories at a ridiculous rate.

Which is why he's ghosting through Quarantine on the look out for empty housing or possible a not very well attended street food stall, in order to snatch a hand out and take something. He can be found shoplifting in the street; or, if you'd prefer, breaking into your character's housing in search of food.]

[ii: Down a back alley somewhere; closed to Bucky Barnes]

[Ever since he saw that name on the network, his own name, Bucky has been in overdrive trying to figure out what's going on. It takes him a day or so to track down who owns the username, and then another day to just follow them around and try and figure out who they are. It's only when he catches the imposter out alone, whatever he might be doing, that he reveals himself by trying to drag the other man down an alleyway in an explosion of movement and bad decisions.]

[iii: Monster hunting; closed to Clark Kent]

[The perimeter is of interest to Bucky, partially because it means an escape from this town and partially because he knows that Stark is going to be making upgrades to it. It's why he's scouting around it today.

He's too focused on the possible security measures, trying to find surveillance equipment or defence mechanisms, that he has completely failed to notice the large monster shaped like a monstrous caterpillar creeping up behind him on silent feet.]

Hey, Scott doesn't know anyone's secrets. Well, except Hank Pym's, kind of.

And of course he manages to grab Scott's wrist. He's an engineer, not some supersoldier with freaky reflexes. He's just a slightly criminal nerd in a suit!

He looks down at his hand, then back up. "Not sure I have a choice, here." But seriously, couldn't he just get you a bagel or something?

Aaaaand at least they're agreeing about something here. He'd probably be more freaked out by, you know, Really Firm Grip tm by a metal hand if his last memories of the other guy were less Epic Fighting on the Same Side. That puts him in Scott's mind, clearly in the category of good guys.

Okay, well, the whole 'you're gonna have to go through me' posture in the alley is a bit less comforting buddy good guy, but by this point, Scott's kind of stuck with it.

"Me! It's me! You know. Ant Man?" Dramatic pause, so his fame can precede him.

Yeah, well, Ant Man...not exactly a big name hero. Even back in Pym's day, Ant Man had been kept kind of on the DL.

"Did you get hit on the head or something?" That's...not actually supposed to be a joke. He's trying to figure out how the guy could not remember him. Like, at all.

"You and Captain America had to go to Siberia for, I don't know. A thing. We had to fight a bunch of other guys." Scott Lang: not helpful.

"Yeah, maybe because it's true." Wait. "Told by who?" By whom? Who? Grammar: not his strong suit.

Oh, right. Sure. Actually, that makes sense. In that 'physics verges onto philosophy' stuff that was normally a bit above his level.

"Yeah, hey, we could be causing some kind of time paradox right now just talking about it." WEIRD.

"Sam? Yeah Sam's a good guy." He may still sound a little excited about being on a first name basis with an Avenger, himself.

"We met, like ten minutes before the whole airport thing." Wow, that sounded a bit weak. "But, you know, a friend of Captain America? Totally a friend of mine." Despite the fact that half the time it wouldn't work the other way around.

"Look, I'm a good guy, really. Just had a few tough breaks." Really! Kind of.

"Yeah, I ran into him already." Which was only a little awkward, but much less awkward than when he bumped into Black Widow. "Also the scary lady's here." He doesn't need to explain who that is, does he?

"Uh huh." That's his 'is that voice that kind of sort of but not really but maybe so a threat?' response. "Man, we're on the same side!" You know, work together. Teamwork. Good things!

That's not how this works, man. Same-side stuff means same side. End of story.

"What's the big deal?" No, seriously, Scott does not get it. The implied threat, he gets, don't get him wrong. It's the whole whyyyyyy behind the threat. "We could maybe figure a way out of here if we got together."

Oh, Scott's not impervious to the threats. He spent his time at San Q, one of California's leading penal institutions: he knows a threat when he hears one. But hey, they're a team! He got all GiAnt Man for this guy! That means something!

...something.

"Yeah? Well...just YOU remember this!" This is Scott yelling at Bucky's back, most likely. "If you need anything, Ant Man's got your back." Yeah, you heard him. The fearsome and terrible Ant Man!

He runs after just a few steps. "You know where to find me, right?" Just, because, well, he's not good at this stuff yet. Work in progress.
