Finding the appropriate decorations had been a bit of a challenge, but Jim was nothing if not determined, and a little bit creative too. It wasn't like he was that used to getting actual Christmas trees to decorate each year, but anyway, he found a tree that was close enough, and found little shiny trinkets and ornaments to decorate it. String lights were easy enough to find, and other than the tree, there were just little decorative details all over the house, such as red and green kitchen and bathroom towels, outdoor walls illuminating the edge of their pool, and even a tiny toy reindeer next to the window, to whom Petunia seemed to take a liking to.
Point was, Jim felt genuinely festive, which was funny considering he never really cared about Christmas all that much. When he got to the Academy he was genuinely relieved for the opportunity to not have to go back home during that break, and it wasn't like Christmas was that big of a deal for most of the cadets, which meant he managed to avoid celebrating it more often than not.
But this year he was excited at the prospect. The decorations, the music, the delicious food (which he fully planned on helping with!), and, of course, the best company he could possibly ask for. He only wished he could find a way to get Jo here too, and really give Bones the best gift he could even possibly dream to get, but... well, he'd have to settle for another gift, and hope that would be enough to make him happy.
"Alright, I'm ready!" Jim was tying the green apron around his waist, while Bones was wearing the red one. "What are we doing first? The food or the desserts?"

"Not playin' doctor. That's just weird." Snorting softly, he leaned over to steal a quick kiss to Jim's cheek. "But I'm all about being thorough." That comment was followed by a wink just before he returned his attention to the work they'd done so far.
Adding a few more ingredients to Jim's bowl, he watched him mix them up, checking each time Jim seemed he wanted him to. Opening up the chocolate chips, he offered a few to Jim before pouring them in. Pretty much all the ingredients were in the bowl now and just needed to be stirred up a bit before they put them on the tray. He should be getting that tray ready, but he couldn't stop himself from drifting up behind Jim and curling his hands about his hips before pressing a kiss to the corner of his neck.

"Mm, I do prefer your more intimate examinations," he almost giggled with those words, following Bones's lead and turning his attention to the ingredients.
It was easier and admittedly more fun than Jim was expecting it to be. Bones took care of all the ingredients, making sure they added the proper amounts in the right order, while Jim limited himself to mixing the batter. He stole a few of the chips and popped them in his mouth distractedly while making sure he mixed the batter as well and uniform as possible.
Bones's approach distracted him, though, and he let out a soft chuckle. With the batter ready to use, he let go of the bowl and mixing spoon, turning just enough to kiss the corner of Bones's lips. "Getting distracted on the job? You know, that's highly unprofessional for a chef."
