[Open] Hygge Celebration on Floor Six

who: Everyone inclined to join
what: New arrival welcome party/Hygge dinner for the month
when: After the new arrivals show up
where: Communal Building - Floor Six
warnings: Please put warnings in subject lines below

Floor Six had managed, in a way, to become their own Found Family. Sure other residents came and went, and many they barely got to know at all, but the core of who was living there now all meant something to Ed. Which meant for this holiday - as cozy as the cabins were - he intended to do something at home as well. The lack of a fireplace might make the setting a bit less matching with the theme of the month, but there was no way the floor itself wasn't warm from all of the cooking. He'd spent the day preparing for this, intent on dragging everyone into it - in some cases, whether they liked it or not.

All residents of Floor Six would have been left an invite with details about the event.

While the food is cooking Ed has set out the usual array of snacks. There wasn't much to this "party" outside of the food, if people wanted to hang out and watch TV or play games everything was available but he hadn't bothered to set it all up like what had been done for Al's birthday. This was more about mingling and socialization than games, getting to know others, celebrating the holiday and welcoming the newcomers to the floor - although should anyone look, they were still present to be used.

The table was set for everyone to eat, the counters littered with whatever food wouldn't fit on the table around the place settings. The usual staples were naturally present, chips, dips, pretzels, popcorn and other bowls of snacks. Mostly, there was food though, substantial food. This wasn't an intel meeting, this was actually meant to be a get together, a celebration of sorts. Anyone is welcome to help themselves to the pots of stew available - not knowing what everyone liked meant he had made smaller portions of a few recipes instead of one large helping, so a variety of options (meats and a strictly vegetable version) are laid out. As are a few other meals - roasts and various meats, salad, and other side dishes, appropriate for this time of year. (Basically feel free to imagine a variety of options to be enjoyed.) Buckets filled with ice housed drinks of all flavors on either end of the kitchen island, although nothing alcoholic was offered should someone provide their own that was entirely up to them.

Warm beverages, hot cocoa, tea, coffee were also available and once everyone's eaten there would be desserts laid out as well. Ice cream, cookies, a small cake thanks to a certain conversation Ed had with another resident in the previous month, and a small collection of pies matching the season.

When Ed sent out the invitations he invited them to bring their own favorite dish if they'd like - assuring that there was no obligation as plenty of food would already be provided for everyone. Of course, the invitation is always extended to bring along friends, the reason this was happening in the communal building was to provide the space for any number of people to show up, while also including the residents of Floor Six that they may not actually know as well.

Board games, video games, playing cards, etc. are all available in the communal entertainment area for others to do while not eating!

"I wouldn't know, I never went back over there after you left." He spoke, making his way out not bothering to hold the door for Damian, the kid was more than capable. Plus he hated thinking about the idea of how Jon and Dick had to of taken that.

"Its on the list, but not that high. And bite me, I know what your thinking, and it's more than worth it. You don't find a classic like I did for the price I did without problems." He spoke waiting for the lift to come up.

He wouldn't hold such comments truely against Damian, after all, it was true.

There was a lot happening back home in just the last few months. He wonders which one made him decide to go back. He shoves the door aside as he followed Todd out to the garage.

"A classic..." So old and rusty but called classic so Todd doesn't feel ripped off. He just keeps looking straight ahead everytime he feels the man shoot him a scathing look. He wants his pie, Todd. He will happily rip into you though once the baking is done.

"Show me this cheaply priced classic of yours." Okay, he has to let a bit of snark sneak out here and there.

Yep, this was Bruce's DNA. Talia at least humored him more when he wanted to do stupid things. Granted, Damian never got the chance to really be a kid so he has to cut him some slack. Its the only thing he truly holds against Talia. How could she treat her son like this?

The Elevator takes them down as Jason gives him a questioning look. "How much do you know about Mustangs?" He asked as the door opened again and Jason started out. His parking spot showed just how much he liked to break the rules. His Motorcycle from home was parked flush against the red rusted 66 Mustang. He only had one space, and he made it work whenever he had to bring the car home.

"Come on." He spoke as he pulled his keys out.

"Mustangs." Now, of course, Damian knew Todd meant the brand of car. He had to memorize different car makes and models for when there was ever a car chase over the police scanners or when looking for a missing person's vehicle... but...

"A fine breed of horse but not the best for desert travel." He said in his usual dead serious tone. He steps out of the lift and followed to the car that... honestly looked in desperate need of a paint job. He couldn't help the nose scrunch that happens when he looks at.

Wait, he... wants them to drive around in that? "...WAIT!" Damian suddenly shouts from behind the man when he opens the door. "Do not put the key in the ignition, this car might kill us all." He said sternly before moving to open the front hood. He, of course, needs to give it a once-over before he let EITHER of them sit in the possible time bomb on wheels.

Jason couldn't help but sigh at that answer. Bruce and Clark both needed slapped upside the head. It was truly a sad day when Willis Todd seemed like a better father... Jason only opened the driver side door, he'd have to back out before Damian could get in anyway with his bike so close to the passenger side door. Unless Damian climbed over the backseat which he doubted would happen.

He leaned in and popped the hood, so Damian could lift the hood. Unlike the rest of the car the engine was shiny and clearly well loved. Jason had already been working on her and that was where he started, that and the tires were pretty and looked more expensive than the car... they may be stolen.

"I've been driving it for months now, Little D. It's not been kind enough to kill me yet." He spoke as if he was serious, but it was his usual death humor. "She's a 1966 289 V8, so don't get scared if she's a little loud, she's made that way." Yes, he was referring to the car as a woman.

"Stop calling me that, Big Jackass." Could've said 'Big J' but you deserved your full title, Todd. Damian grumbles but leans in and actually is pleased with the engine. Not that it shows with the impassive look he is giving the engine.

He shoots Todd a look over his shoulder for the death humor but doesn't comment. He wasn't as humorous about his death. Shrugging it off was just a bit harder for him since he considered loosing to his clone one of his greatest failures. For both him and his clone brother. Not to mention having his mother orchestrate the entire thing was...

"The noise level can be fixed if it's truly an issue, but loud motor vehicles don't bother me." He reaches up to slam the hood closed. "Let's go."

"Never, Little Demon." A grin reappearing on his face. Damian made him proud with that. A nickname from Damian that wasn't just idiot? Or Dead Hoodie, come on, it was a win. He couldn't help but feel a bit of pride well. Waiting until Damian closed the hood.

"It's supposed to be that loud. That's how a classic mustang sounds. Think of it like a rattle snakes warning." He replied playfully. "Now wait a second." He spoke as he slipped back in the driver side and turned her over, to shift to Neutral and let it roll back from the parking spot before leaning over to open the door for Damian which gave a loud pop. "Lets rock and roll." He spoke once the door was open.

Hey, 'Dead Hood' was a good one, okay? It's a process for him, truly. He of course still won't call Grayson anything other than 'Richard' or ‘Grayson’ when it came to names and he didn't really have an insulting nickname for him, because, well, he liked the guy. He was one of the few in the family Damian could stand being around for extended periods of time.

Honestly, he isn’t sure how he’s lasted this long with Todd without at least a punch being thrown. As for the death humor... well, one thing he could say about Todd's death. It was one of the few times Damian could say something crass and not get scathing looks for it.

"If you say so." He wasn't sure how loud noises made something more classic, but eh, to each his own. "We'll get some bandages for your ankle. You're limping around is only going to slow down your cooking." And we can’t have that.

Dead Hood was great, Jason loved it, along with Red Hoodie. Both were great. Signs of hope for the young Al Ghul yet. He wanted to see the boy loosen up before he came out worse than Talia or Bruce. He wasn't Tim or Grayson, but he knows he needed someone at that age and had no one but Alfred, so in a world with little choice he refuses to let Damian deal with the same.

It was nothing short of a miracle that no ones thrown a punch yet.

"I do." He spoke as his phone connected with the bluetooth he had wired in through the cigarette lighter, and music started playing, Jason only turned it down some. "It's fine, I don't need a leg to make a pie." Boy he doesn't know what the future has in store for him. "Now, buckle up it's snowy out." He grumbled before he started to back up without waiting. The store at least was a short drive, but the nice stolen tires would do fine on the snow as would the old metal body.

"No, but having two of them helps." Damian makes a face at the music but doesn't comment since Todd turns it down."We are not raising hell, we are baking a pie... which is hellishly pedestrian now that I think about it." He frowns and is quiet for some of the drives until he finally asks: "What's the last thing you remember about home?" He was still getting used to this time displacement thing.

Having a Jon that came barely fly as opposed to the Jon he knows back home that can fly just fine was disorienting sometimes, but it was nice to pick of his poor flying again.

"It does help, and I plan to keep both. Maybe you have a point." He muttered and shrugged. A grin crossed his face when Damian made his comment about not raising hell, arching a brow, because Damian's an Al Ghul, he'll always raise some hell. "Maybe a little, Shit, why does it matter?" He asked before he looked forward and drove a moment in silence before he decided it was best to just give an answer. He would want to know in anyone elses shoes.

"I was in Qurac, looking for the Bow of Ra with the Outlaws." Just before he was listed as a criminal of war.
