i. perimeter guard: aerial survey & exploration

[ Poe is ~~making out with~~ getting to know the Intrepid. At the moment he's underneath the ship on a rolling dolly, keeping up a steady stream of commentary to BB-8 while he roots around in an open panel.

BB-8 is next to him, projecting a hologram of the inner workings of the ship. ]

--deflectors aren't bad, but this baby has nothing on an X-wing. No offense. [ That last bit is directed at the ship, which he pats before going back into its insides. ] I'm thinking we can squeeze a little more speed out of these thrusters if we modify the thermal vents. What do you think, buddy?

[ BB-8 chirrups his support for the idea as Poe emerges again, hair sticking up from sweat and face marked with grease. ] Need to clear it with Jim first. Man, if Jess were here, she'd go to town on this thing.

ii. also... perimeter.... guard..........

[ Poe isn't really the weight lifting type. It's boring, for one thing. A static exercise. If he can't be in the air, he'd rather be in motion.

Which is why he's in the Perimeter Guard's fitness area whaling away on a few of the standing targets instead. Kicks, punches, all relatively basic moves executed at high speed. He knows enough to get by in a hand-to-hand combat scenario, but he's no advanced martial artist. The moves he knows are enough to get him a full-body workout, and that's good enough for him. His accuracy isn't great, not when his muscles protest this particularly vigorous abuse, not with the numbness in his arms and legs that gives way to tingling pain somewhere close to the surface of his skin. It makes him grateful the First Order didn't go after his hands. He can deal with the time it takes for the rest to heal.

--Also, he's talking to BB-8 the whole time he moves, conversation punctuated with grunts and the sounds of impact. ] --can't let ourselves get comfortable, you know? We-- need to be ready to-- move at a moment's notice.

[ He pauses, and BB-8 rolls over to the edge of the practice mat with a towel held in one maintenance grip and a water bottle in another. Poe takes both, taking a drink and wiping his face, speaking while his face is in the towel. ] Need to figure out a high-speed way to get a hold of Rey and Finn, so if they line the portal up or whatever it is they need to do we can hit it together. A kind of emergency signal.

iii. a park

[ He's jogging, focused on the motion of legs and arms, entirely absorbed in the rhythm. BB-8 rolls along in his wake, the droid more interested in their surroundings and the things in them than keeping up. At least since they're in public he's not rambling at his droid this time??

But you can bet if BB-8 sees something interesting or someone familiar, he'll detour away from his owner. ]

iv. a bar!

[ Poe doesn't drink much, and he doesn't let his pilots drink either. It's too much of a risk when they need to be ready to move the second intel or orders come in. Still, he likes people watching, and bars are a pretty good place to do it. (BB-8 elected to stay at the communal housing building.)

He is definitely not trying to avoid sleeping, because he's definitely not getting more tense with every day that goes past. Old habits, though. He's nursing a tonic with lime, since it's what the bar tender suggested for someone who doesn't want alcohol. ]

Technically Kravitz is the grim reaper, so he's like the ghost cops? Luckily he's got magic enough to make himself a body, which most ghosts cannot do.

Two weeks ago, even, I would have said you were on Dreamdust. You took the grim reaper on a date to a pottery class.

[One of Taako's favorite past times is making people laugh, so this is a win for him.]

My man, I haven't even gotten started on the weird shit. I also summoned the grim reaper from his spooky ghost plane using a quarter mile piece of glass that I turned into sapphire.

[ ? ??? ???????? What is life???? ]

Transmutation is actually real easy.

[He reaches out to tap Poe's glass, turning it to amethyst. It won't stay that way forever, but Taako is very good at this kind of magic.]

[ Poe stares at his glass, then at Taako, then grins. ]

Do yours.

[ HE IS FOREVER TWELVE OK. ]

Want anything specific or should I follow my heart?

[Magic isn't supposed to be used for tricks to impress people, and yet here he is.]

[ As though Taako doesn't do that like every two seconds. ]

[He considers it for a second, humming thoughtfully, before he taps his own glass and turns it to paraiba tourmaline. It's very pretty, he's a big fan.]

Once upon a time I used this shit for my cooking show, just you know, with ingredients instead of fancy gemstones, but the principal is the same.

Your cooking show. [ Poe shakes his head, taking another drink from his glass like it wasn't just changed into a different substance entirely. ] Cooks, summons ghosts, turns into cats. Is there anything you haven't done?

[Taako huffs out a breath, apparently thinking real hard about that question.]

You know, I don't think there is? [Wait! He snaps his fingers.] Have not fucked a god, there's that.

[Why is he so lewd.]

[ Poe, mid-drink, chokes, gags, and aerates his nostrils with tonic while cough-laughing helplessly. ]

[He's so satisfied with himself.]

What's wrong, pumpkin?

[ There is a profound diplomatic gesture that seems to carry across multiple cultures in his galaxy. Poe uses it now, with the hope that it translates across universes as well as planets.

He's flipping you the bird Taako. ]

[Taako blows a kiss.]

Do not for a second think I'm joking. That's top of my bucket list right there.

[ Poe wipes his eyes as he re-learns how to breathe. ]

I have seen exactly one god-thing in my life and I don't even want to see another, let alone go to bed with one.

[cheerfully:]

You should meet Loki and Thor, they're-- well, Thor is chill.

[He cannot with good conscience say that Loki is chill.]

But I like 'em both.

Thor and Loki. Why is only one of them chill. [ Poe gives Taako a distinctly skeptical look. ] And what is your version of chill.

Let's just say I took the ghost cop on a date after he tried to kill me and I'm into Loki too.

[Taako has a type and that type is 'dangerous goths'. Rin also fits that type, but he's less inclined to tell other people about that because he knows that Rin tries to be unassuming.]

And my version of chill is fine. I might be, you know, a lot, but I'm chill.

[What he means is that he's hard to phase and generally pretty laid back about other people. He's not intense in the way someone like Loki is, or even Lup.]

[ Poe will grant him the latter statement's truth. ]

You are. [ He toasts Taako with his now-way-cooler glass. ] And I'll keep that in mind, if I meet them. The one I met was not chill. And I didn't meet it so much as try not to get eaten by it.

[That sure is a sentence.]

Are we talking eldritch shit here, cause last I checked most gods don't eat people?

[ Cheerfully: ] I have no idea what that means.

This one was in an egg when I got there. Watched over for generations, called the Savior Unborn, was supposed to lead it’s caretakers to their promised land. Turned out the egg had two things in it, and one was very Saviorly and the other was very not. Nice one won, at least.

[Poe didn't ask for a definition, and he doesn't seem bothered by not knowing, so Taako doesn't offer an explanation. There's often things he runs into that he doesn't know, and while sometimes he'll ask, just as often he'll file it away to look up later, if it isn't important at the time.]

More monsterly than godly, is what I'm getting here. That's uh, that's some buck wild sibling drama, though, at least me and Lup stick to petty squabbles over who stole who's favorite top.
