[ THOR AND LOKI ]
[ Honestly, Loki is still surprised they're going through with this. He knows he keeps questioning it, but some things are hard to believe, even now. Granted, having a secret older sister has put a lot of his life into a starker context. Loki isn't sure if he's grateful to that. He wishes he could ask Odin . . . or Frigga.
But since he has essentially killed them all, it is better not to let such questions linger. Idly, Loki turns the daggers in his hands, dressed in the outfit he wore into battle on Asgard. This could be a good way for Thor to let loose when it comes to his new powers and release some steam. And maybe Loki is in need of that too, even if he's fine. ]
[ THE MCU ASGARDIANS ]
[ Thor didn't have to mention it. But on the outskirts, far away from Riverview, there is a boat. The insides are strewn with flowers, their sweet scent mingling with the air. There were no weapons or garments to burn, so Loki made do. As for Loki, he sits a distance away, a bow and arrow laid upon his lap. He doesn't approach anyone, not entirely sure he even wants to be present for this gesture. Loki has never forgiven Asgard for not letting him see Frigga's send off and likely, he never will.
But it was not for him. He keeps his eyes down, sharpening the point. ]
[ LOKI AND STEVE ]
[ It was not hard to notice both Steve and Loki were a little on edge due to recent events. And while this would never be Loki's favoured sport, he understands the need to vent and fight. Thor certainly needs to. And so does Steve. Again, another point of similarity Loki tries not to look too deeply at. Either way, Loki takes time to locate them a nice empty gym space and two large sticks for sparring. He's not familiar with what mortals use, but the gym should have enough amenities. For this, he dresses in a simple sleeveless black top and slacks. ]

Thor manages to pretend he's better than he is, but there's not a lot he can hide from Loki, even if his sense of humor remains unchanged. Eventually, he decides he wants to get out of the apartment, he wants to get out of the whole damn city. Loki owes him a hunting trip, and it seems as good a time as any to take off for a few days and get lost in something stupid.
His outfit matches Loki's, it's what he wore to the battle of Asgard as well. He's acquired a set of swords as well, and he finds he's fond of them. It's reminiscent of a classic, younger Thor, still positive he could be a Valkyrie and still experimenting with weapons.]
Have you sniffed anything out, yet?
no subject
[ But he does point out a direction to Thor. ]
Near the healing spring, monsters tend to gather. If we can clear out that area, we can make it easier for smaller teams to travel here.
[ It's where Loki got attacked around the time he first got to Riverview. ]
no subject
He heeds Loki's direction and moves forward. He listens for the sound of rustling and watches for any sign of life- tracks in the mud, braying or maybe a very obvious path of destruction that lies ahead of them.]
..Well, we know its big.
no subject
A surprise, more likely. While many people have ventured here, not many keep notes on the beasts that roam these parts. And none of the descriptions I have heard have given me any clues to their nature. They're always dangerous and violent. They need no provocation to attack.
[ All of Thor's favourite things and all of Loki's least favourite. But this wasn't about him. ]
no subject
The thud of heavy, lumbering footsteps is making the ground shake.]
Are you ready? [Thor quirks a brow, sparks running down his hand as he clenches and releases his fist.]
no subject
As I'll ever be.

He lets his eye fall shut, channeling the power he can feel at his hand and charging himself. When his eye opens, the electricity is flickering up his body in sparks and flashes.
He's mindful of Loki, but fully aware that the odd shock probably won't kill him.
Thor isn't particularly afraid of whatever this is, so he doesn't waste time taking a running leap upward so he can meet the beast halfway when it lunges at him. He throws himself downward as hard as he can, using his weight and his strength to kick the beast on the top of his head. The lightning does the rest, crackling from the sky and shooting downward, making the beast convulse and writhe in pain.]

The others were coming and Loki twice-cursed himself for giving Thor this foolish idea. ]
no subject
He's more careful, lately. More understanding that his allies can't always do what he does or take the hits that he can. With slight apprehension and a glance back at Loki, he decides to unleash and exert more of himself into a single strike into the beasts head.
It's about as effective as he hoped, the beast is already on death's door and the final strike is enough to make it holler and thrash before it comes falling to the ground with a hard thud.
Thor hops off it and steps backward toward Loki. The light fades from his eyes and he raises a brow.]
Maybe that was overkill.
no subject
[ Loki, full of compliments! Or criticisms. To him, it's the same. The thundering hooves seem to be getting louder. Sighing, Loki bends to retrieve his knife, eyeing the blood. ]
I believe that's your cue, brother.
no subject
[Thor's tone is gruff and he rolls his eyes at Loki's criticisms, but he considers them all the same.
Thor rolls his arms back to loosen himself up. He has a few seconds to recharge himself before the next beast comes bursting through the thick of the jungle. Thor spares a glance at Loki, with a look that says watch this before he runs at the beast to meet it halfway.
He draws a sword from his back, using the momentum to spin himself around and take a deep slice at its chest. He narrowly dodges a set of jaws digging into the ground, but uses it as a chance to climb up the beast. He drives his sword into its flesh and uses it to pull himself upward into a blind spot behind its neck.
Thor works on summoning a surge of power, but his focus is on a more subdued attack. While he's distracted atop the beast, a second smaller one darts out of the forest, making its way toward Loki.]
no subject
With a hiss, Loki throws a dagger into the beast's flank, but it's a haphazard shot as he backs away, clutching his arm. ]
no subject
The jolt of electricity he brings down upon the beast is enough to force it into a seizure, but not enough to kill it. He watches a second beast slip past and charge at Loki, nearly allowing himself to lose footing on the first monster when he becomes distracted.
Thor drives his sword down into the neck of the convulsing beast, but he doesn't check to see if it's dead before he leaps from one back to another. The sky rumbles and the power surging over him is moving fast and erratic. He brings himself down on the second beast and his control falls on the wayside in exchange for a more powerful shock of lightning.
The ground shakes, the beast convulses and it dies. Thor looks up at Loki, eye still white.]
You've gotten slow in your old age.
[The beast behind him isn't dead, it starts to try lumbering to its feet behind Thor. It's flashing fangs and dripping venom.]
no subject
I don't need to hear that from someone who lost almost all his hair.
[ Without a second thought, Loki flings his knives into both the creature's eyes, causing it to collapse in pain. ]
no subject
I was getting to that. [He jerks a thumb, at the beast behind him and dismounts the beast he's standing on. He strides toward Loki, brows furrowed.]
Show me.
[If Loki doesn't show him, he'll paw at his arm.]
no subject
It's fine. I'll heal it myself.
no subject
And how long does it take you to heal? [Thor is a set and forget kind of guy. Everything fixes itself eventually. Except his eye, but we don't talk about that.]
no subject
You forget. I have been working with the magics of this place for some time now. I picked up some new tricks.
no subject
Clever. [Thor glances around. He doesn't hear the rumble of hooves or feet, but he's not keen to linger around the bodies. He jerks his head to indicate that they should keep a move on.]
What else can you do?
no subject
Minor transportation spells and the ability to conjure objects. Nothing special.
no subject
He plods along, moving into the thick of the jungle and listening for the sound of more beasts approaching. It's eerily quiet for now.]
Do you just teach yourself that? You read a book and poof-- [Thor gestures vaguely.] --you can do it?
no subject
[ Still, there's a trace of humor on his lips. ]
Yes and no. I need to understand the theory, where the lines of magic must go. It is much like the transfer of energy. I need to use that knowledge on my own formulas to make it work.
no subject
[Thor deliberately blinks slowly, expression blank.] Now you've lost me.
no subject
[ But he wonders what it means. Thor has changed greatly. He has continued to do so. Loki has changed as well, but he has not tried to decipher its meaning too much. Perhaps Loki is a little afraid of what he might uncover. That perhaps, all that has happened, isn't the image of a villain or monster under his skin, but just him. Terrible to the core. ]
It means that I need to calculate internally how to use foreign spells to the way I use them.
no subject
I've never had to think about how much energy I put into anything, Mjolnir just did it for me.
[He won't say anything else was without thought. People say he just smashes things, but he had a multitude of uses for that hammer.]
