It's been a long day of cleaning the apartment, prepping food and decor, and cooking. So much cooking. The apartment smells like turkey and potatoes and bacon and pie and dozens of other amazing smells. The table is set with enough plates and napkins and silverware for everyone invited and a couple of friends each, and there's a festive pumpkin-and-fall-leaf themed centerpiece that Eddie's particularly fond of. In the background, soft music is playing and the whole atmosphere is warm and cozy.

Eddie himself is dressed in a waistcoat and button-up shirt with a tie, his face a little flushed from spending time over the hot stove and the oven, but he's energetic, upbeat and ready to help Cisco greet guests at the door as they arrive.

Once dinner is set out, it consists of a beautifully roasted turkey, brussels sprouts cooked with bacon, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry jelly, candied yams, warm bread rolls, and whatever other turkey dinner trimming might come to mind. There's coffee and hot chocolate, juice, and wine available for whoever wants to drink it. Best of all, there's pumpkin and apple pie ready for dessert.

Giving thanks out loud is optional, but making new friends definitely isn't.

[ Poe's opinion of Cisco kicks up another notch. He is officially Good People, and one of Rey's people, and the combination makes him by extension one of Poe's. He doesn't make the rules he simply must abide by them. ]

It's a little weird. [ He leans back against the wall, pushing some mashed potatoes into a pile and scooping a bit off the top. ] I used to be comfortable with this sort of thing, but you stay with the Resistance for long enough and it starts to feel like a waste of resources.

[ He eats the potatoes. ] I have to remind myself, sometimes, that things like this are the way people show they care about each other. They're to say thank you for being in someone's life.

[ Poe flattens his potato mountain and gives Rey a tiny nudge with his elbow. ] We'll figure out a gift for them in return.

[ If Poe told Rey all of that, it would help her calm down and smile a little more. She’s happy he’s getting along with Cisco. Not that she had any doubts. She was a good judge of character, but she didn’t want Poe to think there was something wrong with her friend.

It’s reassuring to know this is weird to someone else. To see so much food in or place, maybe even wonder if any of it would be left to waste. Food was a precious resource.] It's like that, yeah. I mean....it’s a lot of food and drinks. Feel like Eddie went way over the top when he didn’t have to.

[ Not for her anyway. It was a hard concept to wrap her head around. That for a girl that had been left behind, to have someone do so much for her or partially for her...it was something that didn’t happen. Even the smallest acts of kindness surprised her. ]

...never thought about it like that. [ Thank someone could be thankful for her to be in their life....it’s an odd feeling.

But best to think of something else. Yes, a way for them to say thank you in return. ] Not sure what they would want. Maybe a bottle of something...I don’t know.

Or we could have them over, next time. [ Poe draws patterns in his mashed potatoes. ] Food might not be as good, but between the three of us, we could manage.

[ He grins. ] Probably.

[Rey is wondering if Poe is drawing patterns in his food because he's that bored, or not that interested in the food. Or...did he lose his appetite?

Though, the idea of having Eddie and Cisco over is a good idea.]

Pretty sure we could figure something out. [Figure out a way to make a meal...practice between the three of them.]

Could do take-out again.

[A faint smile drifts across her face, feeling a bit better.] You okay though? Didn't think you'd be the type to play with their food.

[ He looks down, realizing what he's doing. ] Oh. I didn't notice I was, to be honest.

[There's a soft chuckle. Oh Poe..you really don't notice these things about yourself?]

Yeah, you were. [A beat.] Was there...something else on your mind?

[ Poe sets his fork down on his plate so he can scratch his nose thoughtfully. ] I don't think so. Nothing but the usual.

[ The Resistance, the First Order, the fact that they're here, the fact that he doesn't have a ship of his own on this stupid moon.... ]

[...Yeah there's something bothering him.]

Same...but, we can't do anything about it right now. [She says that, but does she follow through with her own advice? Probably not.]

Meet anyone else here that's interesting?

Yeah. [ Nothing to do about it, which is part of what's driving him absolutely insane. ]

Quite a few people, really. Folks around here are pretty friendly, for the most part. Met an elf wizard who can use magic, met a guy named Ivar the Boneless. A woman named Karen Page who's fun.

[ Poe bites down on the end of his fork, holding it between his teeth so it bobs up and down as he speaks. ] Another kid with magic. Magic is a thing here, apparently.

[Rey perks up a little hearing the two people he's met.]

Ivar is a friend of mine. He was helping me train the other day--sword combat. [Because, someone needs to teach her how to wield a weapon like that. Ignore how she sort of smiles at the mention of Ivar's name though.] Who's Karen? She from a world with magic or anything?

[Yeah, she knows about magic, it took her a while with coming to terms with that.]

Really? That's great! [ Oh, he sees that smile. He sees it, he files it away, he smiles a little himself.

Moreso at her questions about Karen. ] Nah, she's from a little planet that doesn't even have interplanetary travel yet. No life in the system other than humans, as far as they know. No magic that she mentioned.

Yeah, he saw me trying to train and offered to help.

[What smile? What? There's nothing to see here.] He mentioned that you and him were sharing a drink?

[Ahh, so they've spoken a lot then? If he's found out that information about her, then they probably have been talking for a while...] Think you'll bring her around some time?

[Come on, Poe. As oblivious as Rey was to feelings and such, if he found someone who he has an interest in...they should meet her.]

Yeah, I met him at the karaoke thing, heckling the singers. [ Poe chuckles.

His mid-bite of too much turkey when she asks him that next question, and it takes him a second to swallow. ] I mean, sure, if you guys want to meet her. She's nice. Smart. Investigative journalist.

[There's a slight sigh.] That...sounds like him.

[Rey pauses, choosing her next words carefully.] If you want to bring her around, you can. You've met my friends, I was curious about yours. If you say she's nice, then she's nice.

[ There's something about the way she says it that gives Poe pause. ] I'd love for you guys to meet her. I wasn't trying to--I dunno, hide her or something.

[She's not trying to pressure him! She's just curious...that's all.]

I wasn't thinking you were. I was just...you've wanted to meet my friends, and... [She pauses, feeling unsure of what she's trying to say exactly.] I don't know, I just thought it would be nice to meet her. That's all.

[Cause...the more allies you have here, the better?]

[ Poe holds up the hand holding his fork, a kind of 'I surrender' gesture. ] You're right. It's only fair.

[ He had gone poking his nose in as far as Cisco was concerned, that was for sure. ] I'll ask her next time I see her, okay?

If you want. [Another shrug of her shoulders. He can do what he wants...but it would be nice if she met his new friend.]

Pretty sure BB-8 would like to meet her too. [Teasing a little.]
