( because why not get a fairly large gathering of overpowered late teens, early twenties (appearing) people all gathered into one room? that seems like an excellent idea.

billy calls loki into the dining room; chase, caleb, and sarah's beds are all in the room across the hall from him, but they're close enough, and billy had given caleb a bit of forewarning about loki. shifty gods. loki teleports his way in like the cheater god he is, and billy pulls him out of the corner he lands in with a hand to his shoulder, gestures to him with his free hand. )

So uh--this is Loki, Norse god of Mischief. I'm sure you've heard of him, right? He's pretty well-known.

[ Green eyes rake the assorted trio as Loki enters the room with Billy, assessing the fields of energy by sending out tendrils of his own power toward his new quarry to seek out the hairs on arms and backs of necks. The room singes with ozone. ]

[ Cue: INTERNAL SCREAMING.

Look, it's not every day you get to come face-to-face with your favorite god! And said favorite god is cute as hell, so that's a bonus. Plus, there's all that power, just radiating from him, so different from the destructive, parasitic force flowing through his own veins.

So maybe he's a little star struck. Not that he'll ever admit it. No, Chase is just gonna play it cool, grinning even as Loki's power sends a shiver up his spine. ]

Billy said that, huh? [ Chase shifts his gaze to Billy for a moment and gives him a wink. OH, YOU... ] I may've heard of you before. Here and there.

[ His curious smile deepens at the corners of his eyes at the pleasant reception, noting the playful wink at Billy. Oh, Billy may huff and puff about missing Teddy but he's going to have a hard (haha) time ignoring these adorable witches.

He steps forward and offers a hand, not to shake but to scoop up Chase's and buff a brief kiss over his knuckles. Good humour runs through his tone with a chuckle, thickening his accent. ~~Bitches love accents.~~ ]

What a coincidence, here and there is in my purview. Pray tell, did you hear about me through myth or on CNN? Because I've been portrayed by both most publicly.

( hissed out in a whisper, the tips of his ears flushing a deep red: ) When someone texts you and says "hey, there's cute boys here", you're not supposed to tell said cute boys they're cute.

( seriously, loki. come on. at least now he knows for future reference not to to discuss possible cute boys with him; he misses kate. and here he invited loki into his. . other house and everything. )

[ It's Tease Billy Kaplan Day, evidently. Loki cocks his head confidently, tossing his hair. ]

[ In high spirits, he pats Billy on the back and continues to beam like a cat that got the cream. The latter comment makes him huff a laugh under his breath. ]

( kate would never do this to him, you monster. loki laughs, and it takes a moment for him to. realize exactly what he'd said versus what he'd meant. his voice raises a little, note of nerves in his tone: )

I'm not worried over it because I don't care. I mean--you can. . there are clearly a lot of other witches here and--

[ Leaning down to whisper in Billy's ear, the hand on his back pats him with a gentle drum of fingers before falling away. ]

My irrevocable favourite, even if there were ten cute witches. Now, let's stop being antisocial with all this hush-hush talk, hm?

( an unwarranted and unnecessary ego boost, but it works all the same, thank you. billy’s head tilts up when loki’s hand falls, lips twisting up just barely at the corners. it’s a half-smile, but it counts all the same. )

You were so much easier to deal with when the word smooch was enough to set you off. ( it’s said with a pleasant lilt; he doesn’t mind as much as he’s implying. teasing loki isn’t what he called him here for, so billy does turn his attention elsewhere. )

[ Okay, so. Caleb is not the best at taking compliments, namely because he is an awkward guilt powered magic machine; which means he smiles genuinely but not without a bit of awkwardness from his seat next to Sarah on her bed and stands up. ]

Nice to meet you. Do you just go by Loki or is there some particular title and naming convention we should be following?

[ That seems like a relatively reasonable question to ask, and he manages to frown at Chase almost immediately. It's like...Vanity and Power², which seems dangerous. Then again Loki kissed his knuckles and Caleb should really focus on something else, now. Not on who's cute to whom or whatever. ]

That's Chase. [ Since he didn't bother introducing himself. ] I'm Caleb and this is Sarah.

[ Caleb is sweet, protocols and manners in a way that flatters, which is why he becomes the next target of teasing. ]

So stiff, Master Caleb! Just Loki will do.

[ His smirk turns into a gentler smile when it turns on Sarah and he curtseys before her, the same way he did for the new Thor. ]

Hello, Sarah! Nice to meet you. If you're feeling out-numbered by all these gross boys I'd be happy to even out the ratio.

[ A blur shifts over the godling like heat in the Sahara and instead of a young man, a young lady rises from the curtsey; long hair and womanly-shaped in previously slim clothes, but with the same twinkling green eyes. ]

[ WOW OKAY THAT'S... WEIRD AND KIND OF COOL? Mostly weird. But hey, that's life any more, isn't it. Mostly weird with a side of what the hell am I supposed to do about this.

She offers Loki her hand with a tentative smile. ] He's really not Master Caleb.

[ Is she still a little mad at Caleb? She might be a little mad at Caleb still. ] It's nice to meet you, too. Are you like. Usually a guy? Because I'm fine with whatever you want to be.

[ WEIRD AND KIND OF COOL is exactly what that is. Loki is pretty attractive in either gender, and Caleb files that away as something he will never mention, thank you very much. He has officially put Sarh through enough. ]

OK. Just Loki it is.

[ IT'S TRUE, THEY DO LOVE ACCENTS, and Chase is no exception. Plus?? The whole hand-kiss thing has his stomach doing backflips, because: CUTE ~~GUY~~ GOD. GIVING HIM ATTENTION. Of course he's going to eat it up, especially since he's eager to focus on something besides his enemies from home.

But hey, at least he doesn't giggle like a total fool or anything. ]

All myth where I'm from. Unfortunately. [ Wouldn't it be better if magic and gods existed out in the open? He likes to think so. Then he wouldn't have had to waste the past five years hiding his abilities. ] I didn't think you'd be so enchanting in real life. [ Of course he's going to drop any magic puns where he can. ]

[ The pun is noted, a grin hitching higher his smile. ]

I don't recommend soliciting any other Loki's for a good time, [ one way or another, ] I tend to be, ah, less sociable in most universes.

[ And insane, but. ]

But I bet you're this lovely in every universe.

[ She shapeshifts back into her other gender, his smile the same as he looks between the pair of them. ]

For about a week before Chase tried to kill us. That was a weird bonding experience.

[ She says it the same way someone might say 'don't forget to pick up the laundry', as though this kind of thing happens every day.

Tho for Loki who knows it probably does. ]

[ Caleb really hopes his face isn't doing something incredibly obvious. And yet, this is the first real public mention of things changing between him and Sarah and he knows that it's his fault, not to mention. A week? A week and he told her everything, put her in danger. In a week she almost died just because Chase decided it'd be easier than going after any of them directly.

If he'd just kept his mouth shut, on any number of levels.

If he'd just gotten here alone, maybe.

Immediately he regrets that thought, expression cycling between hurt and accepting and carefully blank. ]

We should...probably move towards food, yeah? [ He puts his hands in his pockets and looks towards Billy. ] Did we even decide on what we're eating?

[ Glancing from Sarah's blithe reply to Caleb's momentary tell and blatant subject change, he hums agreeably and lets the topic slide. Maybe Chase will get chatty if he enjoys being flattered later. ]

You didn't bring me here just to cook, did you?

[ Billy Kaplan, how dare you!! ]

[ Sarah can't help feeling guilty when she sees the look on Caleb's face. The guilt is immediately chased into a corner by anger at feeling guilty for telling the truth. She really hates this whole feelings merry-go-round.

It is a safer topic, though, so she manages to smile at Loki when she asks ]

You cook? No offense, but it doesn't seem like something a god would be interested in, I guess.

[ Caleb is suddenly hit with the idea that he's a bit extraneous in this conversation; he doesn't know what a god would be interested in, honestly, and also?

He really wants to disappear.

So while he's curious to hear what Loki's response would be, he ducks his head and murmurs ] Excuse me, [ before slipping past Loki and out of the room, into the hallway.

It feels like a coward's way out, and not at all finessed, but at least he doesn't teleport out of the room.

Doesn't mean he doesn't think about it. ]

[ Chase raises his brow, though it's good to know. Don't get too friendly with the other Lokis. If there are other Lokis. Unless this Loki's fucking with him, because he's Loki, after all and-- he's not going to think too hard on it right now.

("Worry about it later." Basically the philosophy Chase lives by.) ]

I like to think I'm the best version of me.

[ Ha ha... ha... No, there's probably some Chase in some universe who's actually a functional human being. But would that Chase be as delightful as him? Doubtful. ]

How do you know Billy?

( it's. not until caleb runs for the door that billy bothers speaking up again; he's familiar with both sides of the party, there's really no need for him to. his head turns to follow caleb out the door, lips pursing before he's moving to head after him. )

He eats potato chips off the floor. ( makes good milkshakes though. ) Hold on a sec.

( it's two steps out of the door that he catches up with caleb, extends a hand out towards him and places it against his shoulder, gently. )

Hey, are you okay?

[ Caleb tenses, only slightly, before he releases that tension with a sigh and glances at Billy over his shoulder, shaking his head. ] Mhm. [ As far as non-commital noises go, it's not a very loud one, but Caleb needs a moment to kind of gather himself up before he can decide what to say. ] I'm probably not great...company, right now? Ugh, I'm sorry. It's been a shitty month.

Sometimes, I just...I can see why my mother liked to drink so much. [ Or why Chase likes the feeling magic gives him. He can see why, but he's determined not to follow that path, no matter how horrible he feels. ]

( shitty months, he gets. shitty days, billy understands. not being good company? also completely understood. billy did spend several months doing nothing but stare outside of a window and tune everything out. he also doesn’t know caleb near enough to be any decent kind of comfort, but. )

I know of a decent nightclub, if you need a day out. ( the hand on caleb’s shoulder drops unceremoniously, moves back to billy’s side. ) Or if you just need someone to talk to who isn’t involved in the shitty month you’ve had, I’m here.

I have to agree, premature though the trust may be. We can live on the wild side today.

[ Ah, but ... how to broach the topic of Me And Billy, it sticks in the back of his throat as he raises a brow and glances over. He did promise he wouldn't lie but he doesn't know how much Billy wants to reveal about their morbid history. ]

I wanted his attention because he was the prettiest boy around, so I invited myself on a roadtrip with him and his friends. Alas, he has a boyfriend and continues to break my heart!

[ Enough truth with the silliness to keep things buoyant in the conversation. ]

I do, it's something I learned on Midgard when I got an apartment in ... Manhattan. [ As Caleb makes a sharp exit, Loki watches him go and turns back to Sarah. ] Did I say something out of turn?

[ Grinning as Billy squawks from afar, Loki continues blithely to Chase, ]

It was a very inconvenient body to be trapped within.

[ Couldn't bear it, in fact, the guilt was literally crippling. No need to share that detail, though, and he spreads his arms. ]

Billy used a spell to create this older form from the original! Didn't he do well? Although I can't seem to grow armpit hair, weirdly.

[ Sarah watches Caleb go, guilt and fury doing a lively tango in her heart. If she was a better person, she would go after him. If she was a better girlfriend. ]

No. [ She forces herself to look away from where Caleb disappeared. ] I did.

I'll probably take you up on that.

[ The nightclub? That'd be a new experience, and he wouldn't mind someone to talk to either. Sarah should have the same, he thinks, and glances over in her direction but doesn't manage eye contact. ]

It's a dumb thing to have gotten twisted up about anyway. [ Since it was a. honest and b. really his fault, anyway. ] It's not like she's wrong.

( when having a shit time, the best way to fix it is obviously by having a party, right? billy doesn't know enough people to pull together one here, but he can invade loki's club, have a nice night.

the friends who have tried to kill you thing is. well. yeah, a thing. billy wouldn't know how to approach that without knowing the story behind it; chase seemed plastic when he first met him, for the first few minutes. he opened up after the power display started, started looking a lot less fake and a lot more excited, like he does facing loki.

which brings the question of what's going on in chase's mind--especially considering he's a power addict. there are a lot of questions he could ask, but may bring answers billy isn't sure he wants to deal with right now. )

Then why are you getting twisted up over it?

Should I ask or provide a lively distraction?

[ Awkward as he feels, though it isn't his fault, he would like to ensure nothing in his purview with these people upsets Billy. ]

Because I'm an idiot, [ Caleb says easily, rolling his eyes just a little at himself. It's great, he thinks, that Chase found someone to get along with; it's fine that Sarah hates everything about Chase and there's nothing weird about being the middle ground, there, with both of them angry at him because he dared to have feelings and even further dared to voice them. ]

I mean. She's right, it was only a week before everything went to shit.

[ Sarah manages a smile, because Loki, weirdly, is nice. Nice is not something she would associate with a Norse god, particularly not a Norse god of mischief, but seriously, what does she know? ]

Honestly. [ A laugh that's half laugh and half a vocalized question mark. ] I have no idea. But I don't want to be like... that girlfriend, so let's go with distraction. Midgard, that's earth, right?

[ What? Billy's a cute guy! And magical! Two things that appeal to Chase! Of course, normally he'd never say anything to that end out loud, because flirting tended to go hand-in-hand with things like dating and romance, which have never been priorities for him (magic being way more important in his eyes, and time consuming enough).

But he's also rarely been in a position where he could talk about how hot guys are with any degree of openness. Like with magic, his sexuality's generally been something he kept close to his chest. So maybe that's why he's looking Loki over, tapping his lips as if he's assessing the god. ]

Oh, he definitely did a great job... Besides-- [ Chase waves a hand and grins. ] I'm a swimmer. Less hair's an asset.

[ Also, maybe he's got an ulterior motive in being kind of flirty just loud enough for Caleb to hear. ]

[ That Billy is spoken for is one of the great woes in Loki's life and he sympathises with Chase with a nod. It isn't until the topic veers back to focus on himself that he perks up. ]

A swimmer! How convenient that I know of a lake which lately sprung up in the jungle, perhaps we could all go sometime.

[ A lake that exists because Loki iced miles of the jungle in a fit of emotional instability, but whatever. Everything that was frozen has melted and the lake is a nice scar on the moon, now. ]
