Líadan 4/17
It takes some time to get his phone back in his hands, but he manages, deciding that texting her may be the best way for her to learn technology after all. At least while he's stuck in this bed.]
It's a little late for me to cancel, but I'm in the hospital again. Sorry. ♪ Let's reschedule once I'm out, okay?
TEXT | @the.young
Are you okay, Eichi? What's a hospital?
no subject
A building where you can receive medical help. You see, I pushed myself a little too far this morning and passed out. I'm being made to rest here for a while, unfortunately.
no subject
So, you're staying with a healer right now. Where is this 'hospital' or are you in too bad a condition for visitors?
no subject
I'll send you the address. As long as you sign in as a visitor, they'll direct you to my room.
[And so, he sends her the information. The hospital, his floor and room...]
no subject
[ Because if they aren't, so help her. The thought alone draws a face. She's already pushing herself up from her perch, water still in hand. She's probably going to have to ask for directions. Probably a good thing she isn't too proud to do as much. ]

ACTION
Suffice to say that by the time Lí makes it to Eichi's room, she's more than happy to have finally made it. Quite frankly, she is a bit pressed by the idea that someone or something else might try to keep her from her friend, so she will poking her head across the threshold to peer and be sure she's in the right place. It isn't like she can read the charts and be sure. ]
Eichi? Are you in here?

I'm right over here. ♪ [He smiles, closing a hand over his phone as he gestures with the other for her to come inside.] It took you so long, I was beginning to wonder if you'd really come at all.

[ Because it basically looked like chicken scratch, then a circle that was obviously supposed to be the moon after which she was named. She'll cross the threshold of the room gladly and move to join him at his bedside. ]
How are you feeling?
no subject
[What kind of floor is that? Well, he doesn't bother saying, quickly and literally waving it off to gesture that she sit at the foot of his bed.] I'm feeling fine. I'm just a little tired, so I should recover in no time, though I'm sorry I kept you waiting.
no subject
[ Don't think she didn't catch that. Just because she can't read doesn't mean she isn't sharp. It... just means she's got a horrible attention span for really boring things. She'll be claiming a seat at the foot of his bed with a bit more care than she might have otherwise done. ]
There's no sense in apologizing. It isn't as though you could have helped it. May I ask what exactly is wrong, though? Healers don't tend to keep people unless it's something more serious in my experience.
no subject
I've been like this since I was born, you know? This weak body of mine can overwork itself so easily; at times even normal walking can exhaust me. In this case, Gladio-kun tried to take me for a run, and I collapsed.
no subject
Gladio put you up to that?
[ Yeah, she's reaching into her satchel for her phone. Somebody is in trouble. She distinctly Eichi mentioning to her that his body wasn't the strongest during the festival. He was open with her about it. Chances are he told Gladio, too, so someone is going to be getting a phone call very shortly. That is, if he isn't here. ]
I don't suppose he's out getting a drink, is he?
no subject
He doesn't seem to listen when I tell him that short lifespans run in my family, you see. I believe it's concern, but a few of those potions of his won't prevent that.
no subject
It runs in your family?
[ That's... something new, something that distracts her from her anger for a split second, then it's back again, bubbling up to the surface with a side of curiosity for his mention of potions. An illness that couldn't be beat with potions -- that's familiar, disturbingly so, for that matter. ]
I need to take a moment. Is that alright?
[ And she'll be pushing herself up. She can't quite wait to make that phone call. It needs to be made now and she needs a moment to process this. ]
no subject
Of course. [He's not going to refuse her, glancing back down to his own phone as he flips it over in his hands.] I can't leave just yet, after all, so all I can do is wait here. Take your time.
no subject
[ A moment is really all she needs unless Gladio picks up the phone. Then, she might need a moment or two. The longer it sits on her mind, the more difficult it is to keep her composure, so she's fairly quick to take her leave of the room and put a little bit of distance between herself and the door.
First things first. She calls Gladio and, when he doesn't answer, leaves him a voice message that should leave no question as to the fact that she is upset with him. She keeps her phone in her hand, leaning against the wall for a moment, and folds her arms, her expression twisting as her eyes wander the hall. It's sinking in with alarming suddenness, the fact that Eichi has such a serious illness, that he lives with that sort of mentality, that he's so... accepting of it. She hasn't heard, hasn't sensed even the tiniest bit of desire to fight when he's spoken about his condition and that's -- that's her phone ringing. That's her fumbling it, losing it in the air, nearly catching it, and dropping it, effectively missing Gladio's phone call.
She takes a deep breath when she reaches down to pick up her phone and check her voicemail, after which she'll spend a minute more musing over the circumstances and the pit that's set itself in her stomach. Right, right. She'd told Eichi a moment and she's fairly sure it's been several. It sees her refrain from returning the call and opt instead to send a text in turn as she turns her feet and heads back to Eichi's room. It doesn't take her too terribly long to cross the threshold of his room again. ]
My apologies, Eichi! Gladio says he will be momentarily.
[ And while she sounds a little happier for that, well... ]
no subject
Once again, there's really no need to apologize. Were you so worried that you called to rush Gladio-kun back? I feel a little bad, since he already looked so guilty when I woke up.
Mm, after all, it's my job to appear perfect at all times, so it can be surprising that I'm actually this fragile, weak nothing. [His phone is out of his lap and to his side now, so he was probably clicking around at some things himself and is now bored of it. He coughs again, and then regards her.]
Does it bother you?
no subject
You shouldn't. Gladio should be here. You don't leave a companion with inattentive healers, but especially when it is your fault he wound up stuck with them to begin with.
[ It's a firm statement. Why these healers are so inattentive and how he isn't going stir crazy stuck in that bed, she isn't quite sure, but then, her not being sure about any of this is part of the problem and -- and the way he just spoke about himself? Oh, that sees her eyes narrow. Bothered? She's more along the lines of visibly upset now and for an offense she deems quite high. ]
You are not nothing, Eichi. You take that back and you take that back right now!
no subject
You're making such a fierce expression that it only makes me want to refuse. I wonder, will you keep defending me? [He glances down to the hospital bracelet on one wrist, to his gown, the thin sheets.]
You don't have to worry, Líadan-chan. As the top idol of Yumenosaki Academy, the "Emperor" who climbed the ranks and made himself known, I have no problem with my ego. Not even after I was chased from that throne. It's something that I will keep aiming for, no matter what. I'm aware of my own talents.

Eichi, you're my friend and I'll defend you against any enemy that threatens you, even if that enemy happens to be yourself. You aren't nothing and I don't want you to feel like you can't be your truest self around me.

[He continues smiling like he always does, small, polite and calm. It's warm, but it's something he's always putting on. As an idol, appearance always matters, doesn't it? And to everyone, he wants to appear spectacular and perfect. His "truest self," does it really matter?
There were a few special "friends" who could have been that for him that he lost, and a few who he did relax around, but viewed him too differently for it to matter. He thinks he's beginning to understand things like this, but he wonders if it matters for someone like him.]
