Everyone looked down at a small piece of plastic and metal and glass in their hand, and as amazing as that bit of technology was and what all it could do, it left him feeling all the more isolated on a whole new level, and decidedly uncomfortable with it.
For someone like him to have felt that, it said much. "You can imagine I didn't get much friendly traffic, doing what I do, when I did it. But they were people yet, warm bodies and voices you could tell were real. Your phones do a lot, but they also take a lot away."
