It's a reasonably quiet night, pleasantly dry with a slight breeze. Almost nice, for those that enjoy the hours after midnight long before dawn starts to creep on the horizon. Right until it isn't, when the air changes, and there's the scent of heat that promises smoke. In most places it starts with a flash of blue light that arcs from floor to floor as energy pulses through the building, and there's a crack of sound that follows. The power dies for a moment, and if you're one of the unlucky ones, the light that follows is a literal spark in the dark, burning to life in bright orange-red, yielding heat and smoke and trouble. The energy surge doesn't just hit the lights, but sparked flames that burst to life, and they catch quickly, spreading.

The worst of it starts on the ninth floor, where the smoke and the beginning of heat starts moments before the surge. The fire spreads faster there, people starting to startle awake and realize what's happening as the flames crackle. Eventually there's an announcement on the Network, both alerting people to what's happening and trying to organize both those that are willing to help and those that need it.

Some areas are untouched, while others are ravaged badly, reduced to ashes and crumbling ceilings, so watch your step. There's chaos, but through it there's people doing what they can to help each other, and the official fire services show up to help control the blaze. After that, it's just a matter of repairing the damage that's been done, rebuilding and putting things back together, seeing what's been lost and what was saved.

Even later, people start putting the pieces together, and there's the official investigation into what might have caused a fire like that in the first place.

[ Oh. Well. Shigeru wasn't expecting that it sorta makes heat rise into his cheeks and ears as he smiles softly back at Genji. ]

When you're alone for so long...it's hard to open up to people. [ Shigeru at least, while alone, had someone he could confide in and talk too about things.

But he does get a bit flustered at Genji's words after that. ]

I didn't mean to lecture you! [ He's scolding someone older than him, for shame!! ]

But...I'm glad to see that you're safe. [ he types that and shows him shyly. Ah it's embarrassing to be so obvious about his crush. But he's really bad at hiding his emotions. ]

[ Genji tiredly finds himself thinking how cute he is... and he's thankfully too exhausted to get flustered by it. He rests his elbow on his thigh and puts his chin on his palm, just looking at him. ] It is indeed. It's something I've had to learn how to do all over again.

[ He laughs a little under his breath, a soft sound. ] I have been on the end of many lectures, do not worry. More often than not I need them.

[ Genji brushes his pinkie finger out to nudge Shigeru's hand, just briefly and gently. ] I am glad you're safe as well.

[ His face just goes so red before he moves his hand away unconsciously. Phobia please!! He really hates it sometimes, augh! ]

Of course! I don't live in the apartments anymore. I have a house nearby though.

[ He frowns as he looks back at the apartments. ]

I feel bad for people who lost their belongings here. I might try to help rebuild them with my powers. Especially if they're things from home. Getting stuff like that back is...hard. [ He'll turn to Genji then around a moment of staring at the still lingering fires. ]

Is anything of yours damage? I can fix it for you if it is.

[ Genji isn't bothered by it, just smiling tiredly. But he looks back at the housing and frowns as well, nodding. ] That will surely be difficult for people. I was planning to help clear out and go through some of the damaged areas. [ With his enhanced strength and stamina and all, it was easy for him.

He shakes his head. ] I do not have much, honestly, and it doesn't seem to be touched by it. A friend and I have been talking of moving out to a private apartment as it is...

[ And then something he said catches up to him, and he raises a brow. ] —your powers work on more than just people? [ Shigeru you're amazing? ]

If you want help doing that...I can come along. It might be easier to heal anyone found without moving them anyway.

[ Shigeru sounds like he's done this before... ]

Yes they do! I can rebuild or disintegrate organic and inorganic things! [ So he can repair all things. ]

I think that would be a good idea. [ He nods in agreement.

And then his eyes get a little wide in amazement. Why was Shigeru just so dazzling sometimes? ] You're incredible, Shigeru.

[ Says the guy that can summon a giant green dragon. ]

[ Oh my god?! Genji please. You're embarrassing him so much right now, ah. ]

No! No I'm not. I...I'm sure lots of people can do what I do!

[ He just laughs sheepishly as he rubs the back of his head. ]

[ Genji shakes his head and puts a hand over the light in the middle of his chest. ] Not in my world. My body is the result of the work of some of the most brilliant doctors and scientists, over the span of many years. I hadn't seen anything like that before when you healed me.

[ Yer a wizard, Shigeru. ]

[ Ah, well, Shigeru does watch Genji for a moment. His eyes stay on the glowing green light in his chest before he looks away, slightly embarrassed due to his staring. ]

I think this is one of the first times anyone's ever said my powers were incredible. Most people think they're scary and dangerous.

[ Shigeru acknowledges that they are and sometimes when he loses control of them he gets scared of his own powers to an extent. ]

I'm glad that those scientists and doctors helped you. Because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to meet you. [ He's just saying the most embarrassing things right now, please forgive him. ]

People are always afraid of the things they do not understand, unfortunately. I suppose that's something we both know far too well.

[ And that makes Genji smile a tired and tender sort of one. Why was he so sweet? It's doing nothing to stop his heart from taking this tumble and falling for real. ] I am thankful for it as well. I have met so many amazing people since then, including you.

[ He definitely knows about that. Phrobiests are so feared and hated that they live on islands separated from the rest of the continents.

He gives Genji a warm look. ]

I miss home but this place...it's nice not being treated so harshly for the thing that you are.

[ He nods. ] There are plenty of people and things that I miss but I cannot disagree. It's nice to be able to trust in the kindness of strangers again.

[ And speaking of kindness and trust Shigeru will get up to go fetch Genji a pillow from one of the empty cots. ]

I kept you up too long! You really should rest for a little while. I can wake you up in an hour or so...if you want?

[ Does Genji actually need to sleep though?! ]

[ Genji's about to protest but he realizes... no, he actually is quite exhausted. A nap will do him and his poor systems some good. He chuckles and takes the pillow from him, smiling tiredly at him. ] Thank you, Shigeru. I'm lucky to have a friend like you looking out for me.

[ With that, he puts the pillow down and lays on it with his arms crossed loosely. ]
