He was starting to just fade around the edges into sleep when he Jim's voice pulled at him and made him blink his eyes open. It didn't really remove that comfortable weight that made him sleepy, but it did make him feel warmer as the other man tried to explain his point. A point he might've wondered about back when they were in the Academy of this happened, but now...
If Jim pulled something like that now in that point in their relationship as friends, he would be completely surprised and baffled that he never knew him at all. Slipping his fingers out of Jim's hair, he let the fingertips slide along the shell of his ear and the frame of his face before nudging his head up so he could look at him. It wasn't the most comfortable position, but he made eye contact with Jim all the same.
"I know what you look like when you're drunk, Jim. I know." He smoothed his thumb over Jim's cheekbone with a small smile. "Much as I wanted to be with you, if I'd thought you were even remotely drunk where it messed with your perception, I wouldn't have gone along with it." Moving his head that little bit, he kissed Jim's lips softly. "But yeah darlin', it's the same for me."
